My husband and I eat at The Flying Burrito about once a week and love it! They have amazing specials, especially the seafood. Their chips have the yummiest seasoning on them and their salsas are great. Be careful of the hot salsa and anything with Ultimate in the name--dangerous! Their wait staff is also very friendly and efficient. We found that on weekends it gets extremely crowded and there is often a wait, so now we try to go during the week. Their margaritas are also fabulous! more

I can't get enough of the flat-out wonderful food, service, and service at the revamped Flying Burrito. All of the dishes I've had during my many repeat visits over the past couple of months - from the legendary Flying Mayan to the best area hamburgers, in my opinion - have been amazingly prepared and delicious. I remember the old FB, but I'm hoping this new, wonderful incarnation will not be counted out - it is truly wonderful, and welcome addition to the Chapel Hill area restaurant scene. more

I love their Flying Mayan veggie burrito! 8/15/2011

I like their drinks, I love their Flying Mayan veggie burrito, and brunch on the patio is awesome!!!!! more

They have THE BEST hushpuppies! 8/9/2011

Having grown up in the deep South, I can say I've eaten my share of hushpuppies. The FB has the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommended if you prefer: fresh fish (Yucatan Mexican) child friendly huge portions neighborhood bar friendly service It's located on King Blvd. (formerly Airport Rd.) behind Hunam's. more

Ate there often growing up 8/8/2011

I recently visited the Flying Burrito. I grew up in Chapel Hill and we ate there often it was a staple in our family. The atmosphere is different now. The food was still great and the service is better than before. We loved the food. more

Flying B might be my favorite Mexican place 8/4/2011

The Flying Burrito and I go way back, as my dad used to take me here when I was a kid. He would get a drink at the bar, and the bartender would always give me a little, plastic statue of a bull, a novelty item that came with the beer. Ever since then I've been hooked. While my love for the Flying B started over plastic bulls, it has since grown from an appreciation of their unique south-of-the-border dishes. Their flavors and taste combinations are very creative, using a lot of fresh vegetables and seafood inspired ingredients. I love any of their seafood tacos, but the last time I went I tried their Carborro enchiladas. They were awesome! Two corn tortillas with squash, zucchini, broccoli and carrots, smothered in green chili and cheese served with a side of rice and mashed sweet potatos (something I'd never tried before but was quite tasty!). They've got some good (and local) beers on tap and have an excellent outdoor patio that makes for a perfect spot to enjoy your meal when the weather is nice. Overall the Flying B might be my favorite Mexican place in Chapel Hill. Good food, good service and a relaxing, enjoyable atmosphere. more

Great 2$ tacos 8/2/2011

I went today after almost a 4 year break in between visits. While I don't remember anything about the last time I was here - today was more memorable. The food is great! We had lunch here -- great deal, 2$ tacos. These tacos were excellent. Almost gourmet? The guacamole and salsa were tasty as well. I will be making a return visit to try the other tacos. more

We will all be going back there again! 8/1/2011

My friends and I attended the Flying Burrito last night for the first time in ages. After reading reviews on here and knowing about the new ownership we were a little skeptical. Upon entering it looks very different! Much more clean and contemporary. While the menu had changed, and some of my favorites were no longer on there, it still had a lot of what we were looking for. The Flying Mayan is still there and still sensational! We also tried the Flying Wild Mushroom and the Flying Catfish. Both were very good and the mushroom was packed full of flavor. I would recommend either of those to anyone. They also offer a variety of wonderful tapas. We tried the steak tacos, salmon enchiladas, and spinach quesadilla. The quesadilla was quite large for being on their tapas menu, but everything was very impressive. We finished off with one of their dessert specials, a guava and cream cheese empanada. Very good! The staff was very attentive and seemed to anticipate everything we needed. We will all be going back there again! more

I really enjoy flying burrito 7/29/2011

I live right across the street so when I'm feeling some good baja (I suppose would be the best way to describe it) food and a beer, I walk over to Flying burrito. I actually have yet to try anything other than the tacos, because they're only 2.50 during happy hour. The owner is nice and friendly, as is the bar staff. But the tacos are very different and imaginative from any others in this area, oh and delicious, did I mention that? Cheers. more

Good Food/Horrible Service/too many flies during summer 2/7/2011

I absolutely love the food at Flying Burrito. Their margaritas are excellent! Unfortunately majority of the time I take someone to this restaurant I receive horribly slow inconsistent service. One entirely gross thing that is hard to get are the flies during the summer months. They really need to do something about this. You have to fight off anyonying flies while you eat. Pretty dis gusting. My husband refuses to go here & unfortunately my visits are becoming less & less. more

Customer service, food on the upswing 10/28/2010

The Flying Burrito has had it's moments in the past two years, and I'd had many hit or miss experiences. But, recently, I've been going for lunch, and if you live or work in the Chapel Hill area, you really shouldn't miss their $2 taco menu. The vegetables are tasty, tortillas soft, chicken tacos juicy and flavorful. Heaping portions of sides like mashed sweet potatoes, black beans or Yucatan slaw are just $2. At all my recent visits, the manager has been friendly and helpful, visiting our table and saying goodbye when we left. The food is flavorful, plentiful and inexpensive. Definitely don't count The Flying Burrito out. more

It's getting worse! 12/29/2009

I went there when it first re-opened and the service was atrocious. I decided to give it another chance last night. The service was mechanical but efficient -- until the food never came out. When I asked what was going on, the food instantly came out -- stone cold. No explanations and no apologies. When I decided to get up and walk out without eating, the waitress came back and asked if she could reheat the food, obviously knowing that it had been sitting in the kitchen for at least a half hour. I kept walking. I'll never go back.\r I loved the old Flying Burrito. This place doesn't begin to compare! Pros: Nice artwork Cons: Horrible service; tasteless, tiny portions more

bad behavior 10/29/2009

I called ahead to see if the game would be shown. They said yes, I went with a group, ordered food and drinks proir to game start. Food was bland, drinks watered down. Asked again if the game would be shown, was told yes. Game time arrives and they dont show the game. Spent 50.00 buck and had to go somewhere else to watch the game. Very disappointed in the way they treated us. Will never go back. Pros: Location Cons: disregard for customer, customer comes last more

Bad Mexican food 9/30/2009

We used to love the Flying Burrito before the new ownership. The decor is great but the food is BLAND. We noticed there were alot of young families there, and maybe the lack of seasoning works well for the kids. We won't be back. Pros: Nice bar Cons: Food that tastes like a frozen dinner more

highs and lows 4/26/2009

While there are absolutely great high points on the menu (many of the tapas plates are top notch and very affordable, especially on Wednesdays, and the drink specials are great) a lot of the food really has no taste. The basic burritos probably have the smothered option because, without it, they are flavorless. My husband just a huge lump of chicken and rice wrapped up, and had to pour salsa on it just to add any type of flavor and moisture to his meal. Please, stop flyering our neighborhood unless you're going to give us coupons. Pros: great specials, some great sides, nice staff Cons: bland food, bad music more

Lackluster & horrible marketing 4/17/2009

Ate here and the service was okay. My wife and I found the food very bland. Later in the week our entire apt. Complex was littered by their advertisements. It rained the same day and their promotions were glued to everyone's windshield. It took me an hour w. a credit card and windex to scrape off the photographic image off my car more

Disappointing mexican 3/19/2009

Disappointing mexican food...if you want authentic, go to Fiesta Grill or Los Potrillos. The food simply had little taste , what else can you say? Pros: Large portion of tasteless food Cons: Overpriced more

Not the same but still friendly 3/6/2009

I have been going to the Burrito for 20 years. While I don't find the new burrito as good as the old. I do still like their bartenders and the people you meet at the bar. Jim has done a good job making the bar a place you still like to visit (Who doesn't like seeing Prof. Phil). It takes some getting used to, but the new burrito is pretty good. The music could use an upgrade though. Pros: nice people, good beer list, great tv's Cons: too bright, changed the train wreck more
