Wren created a new-old wedding ring for me (added a stone and some design to my original band). She created the new ring exactly as I wanted it - It has gorgeous detail & a smooth profile ? both! It?s better than I imagined. How is that even possible? Thanks Wren!

I was assigned by my group to purchase a gift basket for a guest speaker and was very pleased with the service that I received at Southern Season. An employee in the flower arrangement section helped me understand how the baskets were organized and other options that I have for creating a basket. She then stepped aside and said that I could call for her if needed. Great experience. I actually had a cheering squad when I made my selection as 2 employees watched me carefully decide.

Paint the Earth is a place to prep and paint your own pottery; they fire it in the kiln for you and it can be picked up at a later date. They have numerous pieces in the studio for inspiration, which is important because there are so many options of items to paint! It is a really relaxing place to channel some creative energy and catch up with friends. The painting area is larger than I have seen in other pottery places which is good since they can get busy. The only problem is finding parking, but that is true of most businesses in Chapel Hill that are on Franklin St. Paint the Earth is also located close to some amazing restaurants so it's a great way to spend an afternoon in Chapel Hill.

Uniquities is the best shopping in Chapel Hill. This store has a wonderful selection of styles (in my opinion, their buyers have a great eye and select fashionable items that are also easy to wear.) Most of the reliable labels are represented as well as some new designers. The staff also has a good eye - they are very good at helping pull items to try and giving honest opinions. The Chapel Hill area is lacking a good department store so Uniquities has become my "go to" store for work clothes and special events. They also have nice selection of jeans and casual items.
Pros: Great selection of styles, great service
Cons: Need more selection of sizes, carry more shoes

Where to begin! There are so many great things to say about Salutations that I don't where to start, but I think it speaks volumes that I moved to New York almost five years ago and still buy all my stationary and invitations from Salutations in Chapel Hill. Simply put, there is no better place to shop for a great selection and superb service! The staff is not only friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable -- but super creative! Together, we have come up with party invitations that have had my guests begging me to share my source, which I happily do. Since Salutations' proofs are available via email, it makes it a breeze to work with them -- even from out of town. Additionally, when I'm in Chapel Hill and need a quick, last-minute gift, I can always find something there -- a candle, a cute notepad, pretty guest towels -- and how delightful to have them offer to wrap it quickly at no charge! Indeed, shopping at Salutations is always a pleasure.

Time After Time is located near the Carrboro side of Franklin Street. It is a small store but it is full of great finds. Although it looks like everything is jumbled into different areas, the store is actually well organized into shoes, dresses, hats, jewelry, handbags, etc. Clothing from the 1920s to now can be found in Time After Time and it is a great place to find nicer quality costumes for Halloween or any costume party. Take time to dig through the racks and try things on - you never know what you might find!

Southern Season in Chapel Hill is simply an unbelievable place. It's a gourmet shop that's the size of a department store. It's the kind of place you can visit over and over and everytime discover something new. The homegoods are all top quality and the food products are amazing. The wine section is HUGE and they have a good selection of unusual import beers. The candy section is amazing - imported Belgian chocolates (at imported prices) in the display case, just about every kind of packaged candy bar, and some local favorites. Southern Season also has a great deli area -- good for stopping in to grab lunch on the go. They have every kind of spice and seasoning and sauce - about one aisle dedicated to each type of cuisine (Japanese, Chinese, Cajun, Mexican, etc). They have a nice floral department too, and lots of good gift items.
The summer sale is the best time to go to Southern Season. They discount just about everything, so you can stock up on your favorites.

VisArt has the best selection of movie rentals period. The only thing that comes close in comparison is Netflix. VisArt has all the newest releases as well as completely obscure movies. It is a great location to find the Independent films that are not carried in larger chains, to get a flick for the children or to check out films that the staff recommends. This is one place that needs to expand its locations so that we can have the benefit of a store in Raleigh.

Cameron's is the best place to find gifts. You can find things for a sibling, co-workers, or friends. They have a plethora of unique and interesting gifts from gag gifts, candles, flatware/glassware, purses, cards, etc.
I highly recommend this store if you need to buy a gift for anyone. And make sure you stop by the Elvis shrine and meditation room.
