best train store ever! 12/31/2010

Love this place. Not only do they have a great inventory, but the staff is top notch...knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. I drive 40 miles to shop there, and would drive 100 if need be. If trains of any scale, especially O gauge are your thing, shop here. And if you're new to trains, no place could be bertter for you to start your new hobby! more

The Best I've ever Found 12/1/2010

If you're a member of the early baby boom set, this is definitely a magical place. It might not have been intended as such, but in this shop Christmas seemingly extends throughout the year. Unlike the department stores of years past which took down their train displays and stopped stocking accessories and supplies by mid-January, the trains run every day of the year in this shop. Well, they do take Sundays off during most of the year. I've been to a few train shops which might be as well stocked, but at Eastside Trains customers can actually find what they're seeking. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable without being intrusive. I have never asked a question they couldn't answer. Nowadays, I go mostly for the Lionel O-gauge, but they seem to have pretty much everything a model railroad enthusiast might desire. This is a place where the serious train collector and the novice 'rug-runner' can rub shoulders. Sometimes I've been known to just stand around and eavesdrop on interest more

This place is hard to miss in downtown Kirkland as it is contained in a train depot like building. A fun place to be at any time to observe model railroad action or talk to the informative staff. They carry all the major brands of models, magazines, books, posters and train related items. more
