Horrible Music School 4/12/2012

I had gone here for 2 months. My cousin went for 7 years. They teach you like nothing here! They have different teachers every week and sometimes your just writing notes in your book. This place was crazy and not so steady. There was an agreement you pay for the whole year which is $700. But, I couldn't stand it anymore they teach like nothing. i was like 5 and my cousin was 8. They teach everything in the most difficult way. My sister and my cousin went to Victory Music Studio. Now, this is a place where you spend your money. They are private lessons, and it is so close to Dr. Trogans .Music School. You have to pay here per month, and no contract. My sister learned piano, and it seemed so easy when they taught it. Even though it would come to $1000 a year, so worth it! Trust me, going to Dr. Trogans Music School is a waste of money. more

Well, I see that not much has changed in more than twenty years. I was a teacher of voice, piano, and music theory at this place for the better part of the Eighties, and the best way I can describe their approach to teaching is ""assembly-line instruction:"" get 'em in, get 'em done, get 'em out, and make sure you get their money. The claim that students can have all the time they want is a lie wrapped in the truth. They can spend all day working at their theory papers if they so choose, but on a busy day some of my voice and piano lessons got cut off after barely fifteen minutes with the student and nothing I said or did changed things one bit. The only reason I stayed as long as I did was that the job fit my schedule, and while the money wasn't great, it kept body and soul together. But in all the years I taught there I can count on fewer than ten fingers the number of students that actually learned to play their chosen instrument or made any significant progress cultivating their voices. Don't send your kid there unless all you're looking for is a babysitter. more

this is THE music school 11/29/2010

DR TROGANS MUSIC SCHOOL IS THE ONLY ONE ON SI THAT IS BOTH HONEST AND QUALIFIED TO TEACH ALSO THEY TEACH FROM AGE THREE TO SENIORS AND ALL INSTRUMENTS AND VOICE AND THEIR THEORY TEACHING IS SIMPLY NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE IN TOWN. MY WHOLE FAMILY STUDIED THERE FOR THREE YEARS AND IT WAS THE MOST PLEASANT EXPERIENCE WE HAD DURING THAT TIME, CONSIDERING THE ROUGH LIFE WE HAVE THESE DAYS WITH MONEY IT WAS MEDICINE FOR US. ALSO-, THEY HAVE THE LOWEST RATES IN THE TERRITORY. WE PAID ABOUT THIRTEEN DOLLARS PER SESSOION A more

Here is the only fine music School in town! 11/17/2010

This is the most sensible and orderly way to obtain a true musical education. Everyone works at his own speed on theory with constant, friendly help--even by PhD.s from Columbia University. Private lessons are not timed but many run up to an hour and the wonderful thing is that if you want more time you simply ask for it and you get it cheerfully becuase these poeople are not selling time, they are selling knowledge and skills for everyone from 3 to seniors. Also, if you want to change instruments or study singing, you can always switch. Of course the competition is jealous and love to lie about Dr. Trogan. They know his School has been around for over 40 years and they can't deal with a place that has taught even people like Alyssa Milano and dozens of other famous people--andf still manages to have the lowest rates on SI. If this sounds too good to be true TRY THEM! That's what my family did. DON'T BELIEVE THE LIARS. more

Stay Away 10/9/2008

Chaotic place. There does not seem to be any consistency or continuity. Kids get put with any teacher that is available. Lessons are supposed to be a 1/2 and hour, never seen a child in a room for more that 15 minutes for a ""private lesson."" My child had only 2 lessons. The first was 10 minutes (they claim the were assessing her) and the second, a week later with a different teacher, was 15 minutes at the most.\r \r They have no printed material to tell you before you sign up what the schedule is or the conditions to which you are agreeing. They write it on the back of a business card. I was given at least 6 cards. The receipt is the agreement READ IT CAREFULLY. I did not. I paid by check for a year and they give NO REFUNDS. This was NOT mentioned to me at all. I was only given the these conditions after I handed them my check. Now I am out nearly $700. Cons: Length of lesson, continuity with same teacher more
