What a fabulous place to do business. If it were not for Alan and his genuine concern about my vision, I would be unable to drive a car or read. I have Fuch’s Dystrophy Syndrome, a disease of the cornea. I had corneal transplants in both eyes and had severe astigmatism. Alan took the prescription from my eye specialist, researched my disease and realized that contacts would be the best solution in my particular case for distance vision and modified bifocals for reading. I have never had an optical company whose staff was so sincerely helpful and concerned about me and my vision. Thank you Clair Optical. You have a customer for life. more

All I can tell you is you are not going to find a more committed owner. My family of near-sighted bats has been a customer of Clair Optical for 20 years. You can go to all the chain optical shops you want, but you will never find an owner more dedicated to his customers. Alan is highly educated optometrist that is well respected by all the local eye doctors- just ask. With a chain store you are lucky to see the same people the next year and who knows about their credentials. \r \r It's the little things that sets Alan apart. Run out of contacts before you next shipment? He'll work with you, especially if you are a repeat customer. Need a specific style of hard-to-find frames? He'll find them for you. \r \r Alan is a second-generation optometrist and is genuinely kind and very knowledgeable. My eye doctor recommended him when I was a kid, and every eye doctor (that doesn't own their own optical shop) recommends him, in my experience. \r \r As to costs, Clair Optical can and will compete with all the chains. I've asked around and when you finally get to the bottom line, Clair Optical is as competitive as 1800Contacts and Costco. \r \r Honestly, I would not trust my eyes to the cheesy, cost-cutting chain stores like Americas Best and Pearl, let alone the warehouse at the end of the interne. The owner, Alan, is accountable to his customers. I always have my family's glasses independently checked for an accurate prescription with my eye doctor. Over the years that is probably 20 pairs of glasses. EVERY time it was spot on. Good luck getting that with any chain or internet mail order; their quality control is no where near that. If there is a rebate available, Clair Optical always makes sure you can get it. \r \r As to the person known as ""Reviewer B,"" I wouldn't put much stock in her review. She had her eye doctor skip the contact fitting (to save her money obviously) & wanted Alan to do it for free, so she could use her Happenings coupon for some out-of-state mail order house. So somehow Alan is the bad guy? Does anyone you know like to work for free? Maybe they tear up their paycheck instead of cashing it every week? Why should he do a fitting for free, if she won't even buy a couple of boxes of contacts?\r \r If you believe in small businesses and in buying local (Utah First! campaign ring a bell?), AND you want the best at a competitive price, Clair Optical should be your choice. more

I am doing a Owner review to respond to the review Reviewer B. has posted. There are inaccuracy's in in the review that this customer has posted.\r \r This customer wanted me to finish a prescription she just got from her Doctor and write out contacts on the Rx so that she could go somewhere else.\r \r The place she is quoting has the following prices as of today. 7/26/2013\r \r Airoptix Night & Day $183.96 four boxes.\r \r Costco for example charges $35.00 for a fitting of a prescription that is not finished for contacts.\r \r Then : Airoptix Night & Day $183.96 + 35.00 = $218.96\r \r Clair Optical quote for the same thing :\r \r Airoptix Night & Day $200.00 after rebate, she was adding in the fitting fee that I told her we don't charge. She never seemed to hear that part. She wanted me to do all the work so that she could go somewhere else to buy contacts.\r \r Her coupon was a one time first order only. After her first order they would charge her $203.96. \r \r I was polite and tried to explain that I could not do it for nothing that she had to at least buy two boxes for me to finish her Doctors prescription. This Lady does not even know our business and how hard I try to please my customers. \r \r This is a free market country, if she found it cheaper, and the place was willing to take a prescription that was not finished and fill it, she should have just done that. Getting angry because I would not do something for you for free is wrong.\r \r \r Alan .\r more

This place is overpriced. Shop around and learn the prices for contacts before you go there. For example, they've asked $275.00 (with 'free' fitting exam) for the yearly supply of the same brand and type of contacts that I ended up getting at VisionDirect.com for $120.00 (after $30 rebate and 25% discount available online for first-time users or use code from 'entertainment' book ""EBOOK25"" - expires 12/31/2013. Established customers receive 20% coupons via email on a monthly basis afterwards). Or check Costco. Or just call around. You will have to pay a fitting fee (around $50), but it is still less expensive, than getting your contacts at this place with free fitting. I've done fitting exams for my family members in the past seven months at three different places and the most expensive one charged $59 for contacts prescription, which you can fill at the place of your choice. Or 'America's best charges $139.00 for a five-year membership to have an unlimited contacts fitting and eye exams free of charge ($99 for a three-year membership). The owner of this place was very pleasant at first, but his demeanor changed very quickly once he learned that I will not buy contacts from him. He accused me of wanting things for free, which is not true, as I am aware of the contacts fitting fees and was willing to pay for it. He was argumentative, accused me of being rude to him while he is so nice and polite, would not let me say anything, all while shouting 'you are not listening to me'. Horrible behavior. Once I posted a negative online review he called me and yelled over the phone that he is going to sue me. Once I hung up, he sent me a certified letter once again accusing me of wanting things for free and being rude to him, all while he is being so nice and wonderful :) more

I have been with Clair Optical Co for over 30 years and the owner asked me to respond to the lady with the review. I have always been treated with respect and great service with Clair. I have consistently found them to be more competitive than 1800 contacts. If I have ripped a lens or need a few until I get into my doctor they take care of our family. I totally do not understand any part of her review given the 30 years of service I have received. I would recommend Clair Optical and have done to family and friends for 30 years. Some people just choose to be unhappy and spend far too much time trying to hurt others.\r \r Julie more

Wonderful Customer Service 8/10/2011

Alan, the owner, worked with me for several months to find a pair of contact lens that would work for me. This was quite a lengthy process but he never tired in helping me. I received the same high end customer service each time and finally we found the type of contact lens that would work for me! I have also purchased glasses there and found the staff to be very knowledgeable about what type of frames fit best per face type. I have never had so much help picking out frames. I must say that the glasses I have now I enjoy wearing because I actually like them! Thank you Clair Optical for all you do! I would recommend them to friends, family, anyone! more

Great place to do business 8/2/2011

My wife and I were referred to Clair Optical by a good friend and neighbor. We needed glasses and our previous optical shop was no longer in business. We did not know where to go but followed our friends advise. We now have our glasses and loved the service we received at Clair. I can honestly say it was like going back home to our previous optical shop that we had liked for so many years. I would recommend Clair Optical based upon our experience. more

Best Optical I've ever used 4/14/2010

Alan and his staff are the friendlist, warmest people I have ever come in contact with in a professional setting. They are very helpful and do anything and everything to make sure your glasses or contacts are fitting right, andlooking good and that you are satisfied before, during, and after your purchase. I have been going to them for over 20 years and would highly recommend them to anyone. Please rest assurd that they do everything they can if your not satisfied to correct the situation. Which by the way rarely happens. So Please go and see them they are all wonderful and I would never go anywhere else. Pros: Nice,Clean and Freindly Atmosphere more
