Sad to say I am not having a great experience. 4/11/2011

I was injured in an accident and very frightened I saw my dr in the emergency room, then I was advmitted to Tampa General they were fantastic I cannot say a thing bad about them, my surgery was scheduled for Monday, nobody came t osee meI was brought to a room left alone and somewhere along the line put to sleep never saw the dcotor, woke up and no doctor, moved to a room, have no idea where and crying because I was so afraid, turned out was send for a CAT scan and just left, they apologized and then I must have fallen asleep again, I do not remember anything, the staff at hospital took fantastic care of me, again did not see Dr. Chan that I remember, was released 4 days later made appt to see Dr. Chan, waited 2 hours to see him no xray nothing to show no explanation what they did, go to thereapy, so now doing that and waiting to go to see him again. I have been at this facility before and was treated like royalty, that was when they were new, maybe they have become so large they no longer care, really sad because I had heard so much good in the beginning, now I just hear more and more negative. more

Great Experience 1/19/2010

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews, as I had a great experience at FOI. The staff and my doctor were very friendly and professional. I feel that I was provided very good care and my outcome from\r surgery was excellent. Pros: Excellent outcome, good care, professional, friendly more

Terrible Service 11/17/2009

I had almost identical experience as ""MS"". I sat around for hours with an appointment with sciatica problem several times. I was worse when I came out after sitting around for all those hours in each appointment. The whole staff did not care. I put up with it but after two injections that didn't work, I gave up and swore to myself that I would never go back there or recomend it to anyone. It is that bad! Cons: waist of time and money more

Worst place you can chose! 9/17/2009

they have and insist on a cancellation policy - but it is only valid for the hospital! no problem for them to cancel an appointment within hours notice (twice in three weeks!).\r complete disrespect of patients - from receptionists to doctors. attictude is ""we are the best, we have the business anyway - why would we care"".\r facilities need renovation, so does their customer service.\r if you want to do yourself a favor, chose another hospital! Pros: (outdated, wrong) recommendations Cons: non existent patient service more

This is an AMAZING Facility! 8/14/2009

Recently I have brought my mom here to evaluate her back problems- Yes, we had to wait for quite a while to see Dr. Small (and actually saw the PA or Nurse Practicioner the 1st v isit) but when a facility is good at what they do, they will be busy, you will wait---and I feel a wait is worth it in order to receive competent and quality care!- Just bring a book , or work, or whatever, and try to be patient! Since then, I broke my elbow while on vacation and became a patient of Dr. Michel, as well as several visits to Physical Therapy. Again, I have been so SO impressed by everyone! I am a nurse in another physician office - I can tell you first hand, that as busy as these people are, they still strive to treat everyone with kindness and respect. The thing to remember- if you have to wait longer because they are taking time with the patient(s) ahead of you, you can usually expect that kind of time from them when your turn does come up! Thanks to everyone at FOI!!! I will highly recommend them to everyone! Pros: Friendly and Professonal Staff Cons: Very Busy (Because they are so good) more

Terrible Service 3/16/2009

I have degenerate spinal disease and have been experiencing chronic pain in my lower back, legs and feet for a couple of years. I have had quite a few tests done and have seen several specialists. My primary care doctor reccommended that I have Dr. Jackson look at my test results and talk with me about options other than surgery. She said that he was having success with steroid injections but she didn't know if that was a viable option for me. I took off work and arrived early to complete the paperwork as I was asked to do. I sat in the waiting room over two hours before being called. When I finally went into a room a nurse came in and told me that a physician's assistant would come take my information and then I would see the doctor. The assistant asked me a lot of questions and then told me I still needed another test. She left and came back and said that Dr. Jackson did steroid injections. She asked if I wanted to make an appointment and I said I didn't know because I didn't know anything about the procedure. She left again and came back with a pamphlet on the subject. I was told to read it while I was waiting to see the doctor. A few minutes later she came back and said that Dr. Jackson wanted to see me. She directed me to the desk where he was talking to the receptionists. He asked me if I had been for physical therapy. I said that I had and that I didn't feel like it helped. I had another bulging disc since that time. He then told me that he couldn't help me since I didn't want the injections. I told him that I didn't say that. I was there to consult with him and get more information on the procedure. The physican's assistant said that she gave me something to read. She was very rude. At no time did the doctor talk with me privately and go over the film/reports that I had been asked to bring. I had to take time off from work, pay my co-payment and sit for 2 1/2 hours which is very hard to do with a bad back and sciatica. It was a total waste of time and money and now I'm in more pain than I was when I went in. I would never go there again. I've never been treated so poorly and unprofessionally. Cons: two hour wait for consultation, doctor didn't go over tests more

Very Dissatisfied with Florida Orthopaedic Institute 1/22/2009

I recently suffered a knee injury, and since I had meniscus cartilage removal in both knees years ago, I wanted to find an accomplished orthopedic surgeon that could diagnose and treat my current injury, as well as offer insight on future knee replacement or other successful therapies.\r \r I chose Florida Orthopaedic Institute because of their claim to be the largest provider in the state of Florida, and their claim that they are recognized internationally for 'comprehensive services'. Well, they are definitely large ... maybe, too large. My appointment was for 10:15 am, and I signed in as patient #20 that morning. I waited for 45 minutes and when my name was called, I noticed a hand-written sign had been posted at the check-in counter that read: ""The Doctor is Running 30 Minutes Behind Schedule. We Apologize For Any Inconvenience."" I was led into a room and told the doctor would be with me in a bit. Well, the doctor never came. Instead, I was seen by his ""Physician Assistant"", who looked about 21-22 years old. She moved my knee around, made a diagnosis, and gave me a RX for an anti-inflammatory.\r \r I have nothing against physician's assistants - if I am advised when making an appointment that is who I will be seeing. I drove about 45 miles to get the extra added benefits of this large group's expertise, which I clearly didn't receive. more
