Bent Pages

I LOVE Bent Pages!!! A coworker of mine referred me there about 12 years ago.....I am STILL a customer! If they do not have it in stock, they WILL get it for you! My selections are always in very quickly (about the same amount of time if not quicker than amazon)! They are very personable, and offer a terrific discount on their prices. To anyone that doesn't see the charm of the business and the service they provide, you obviously are not worthy of this place!!!! more

When I came to see the capital of the bayous and the last plaqcea I expected to see was a great, lively bookstore with PERSONALITY! This place is something else. It has a wonderful collection of books particularly books of the region.\r One of the wonderful part of the shop is a certain lack of order. It drawns you in. You want to poke around. I left the place very Happy after buying more books and spending more money. As a Seattlite I know good lottes. Molly's are great. more

Sorry that your experience at Bent Pages was unpleasant. Traffic in Houma can be aweful, sorry for that too. Maybe if you were in Houma a bit more often, you would learn to appreciate it and its people quite a bit more. With that, if you really knew how hard the staff at Bent Pages work to service their customers, you would understand why the store was closed for the week; everyone needs a vacation, even you. As far as BooksAMillion, try their service, try their knowledge, wait for someone to return a phone message, go ahead and wait because they offer any of these things.... Besides, Bent Pages has over 650,000 titles, great prices WITH "book buy back" credit, will find anything you want and ship it to you, walk in more than twice and they will know you by name and reading preferences, (try any of those at BookAMillion), and most of all, they are a locally owned and operated business and Houma is lucky to have them. Excellent bookstore. The owners know authors, books and sources. They are able to obtain anything that could be possibly wanted. They are and support the local economy and the local arts. Each year they are key in the sponsorship and coordination of a writers conference which is second to none. One comment complained about the place being closed. We do have hurricanes and storms in the region-maybe he was stuck in evacuation traffic! more

After going to their website for their location and hours, I sat in traffic for 45 minutes to get to this store. There is no sign advertising the business, just a place that looks like a house. When I did finally find the store, a handwritten sign on the door said the store was closed for the week. Another half hour of sitting in traffic and I was at Books-a-Million browsing their selection of used books.\r This store has both an answering machine and website, one would imagine that the fact the store is closed would be on at least one of the two. I am in Houma at least once a month, but this experience has made sure that Bent Pages will never get mine or any of my friends business. more

I love bent pages. I have a love of reading, but this love at times can become quite costly going the traditional route of retail book stores, such as the bigger chain stores. Bent pages is different in the effect that I can trade my books that I have already read in for store credit to be used towards books that I am wanting to read. Even the cash price for used books is a steal at 1/2 off the cover price. The selection of books in this store is enormous and the staff is very knowledgeable and knows exactly where each author or each type of book is found. Highly recommend this store to all of you who have a great love of reading, but not a great big pocket book. PROS: ample parking, knowledgeable staff, trade in books for store credit CONS: far from my house i don't get to go in often enough more

Bent Pages is a wondeful bookstore to lose yourself in for hours. Molly and her staff are always on top of things and are always ready to recommend a great book! PROS: Always on top of things where the books are concerned! CONS: Honestly cant think of any! more
