We were introduced to Abuelos almost 7 years ago by one of my husband's friends. We had to make the drive all the way to Hurst, but once we did, we made it a monthly stop. Abuelo's has Mexican food that is extraordinary. They have the usual enchiladas and fajitas, but do yourself a favor and try something from the specialties menu. One of my all time favorites is the steak medallions and bacon-jalapeno shrimp. The potatoes with chiles are fabulous as is the creamed spinach - and I don't even LIKE spinach! Both the queso and salsa are excellent. They gotta do something with that queso! And the margaritas and swirls are fabulous and will knock you on your butt. The only disappointment I have is that they took the bread pudding of the menu. My husband and I have tried to find this particular capriodata and other Mexican places, but it is just not the same. Now Abuelo's are popping up all over the place. If you haven't tried this Mexican Embassy, I would encourage you to give it a whirl! more

This is sooooooooooo good. You must try the cheese dip. I haven't ordered a dish here that I haven't liked. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. They are very quick too. It's surprising, because even on days when they seem really busy, you don't wait long for your food. The prices are normal for a nice Mexican restaurant. The decor is tasteful. If you like Mexican, this is the place to go. more

I sometime forget all the great places I have been to in Arlington until I read other reviews.. This place is awsome. It is not your cookie cutter franchise place, its good home cooking mexican and tex mex food. The atmosphere is awsome. It looks as though you are in a great place somewhere south (way south) of the border. The service is friendly and the food is mouth watering. I love the Carne Asada and the tortillas seem so fresh they must be made in the back. Make sure to come during lunch to utilize their cost efficient lunch specials!! more

I love the food here because it is outside of the box of regular Tex-Mex food. They have many options, and their papas side dish is wonderful-kind of like Mexican mashed potatoes. I love the atmosphere. I think this would be a fun place to go on a date. They have fantastic food and service! more

The food here is great tex-mex. Not too greasy or overdone. The only thing that needs improvement is the guacamole, it is not fresh, it's the kind that comes out of the vaccuum sealed bag. It does have a great atmosphere with the sky painted ceiling and the fountain in the center. The enchiladas are great, and they have a great combo where you can pick your options. The papas con chile which are mashed potatos with salsa mixed in are GREAT! The only bad thing is the guacamole. Overall though, great stuff! more

All Mexican food places usually make you feel so over stuffed once your done, well Abuelos does the same because you get chips and hot sauce, tortillas, and your meal. The meal alone is enough to feed a hourse. They have very large plates that you will enjoy every bit of it. The atmosphere is very professional, you almost would feel uncomfortable going in dressed to casual. more
