Businiess name:  UPS Store

Review content:
I'm somewhat used to getting ripped off at the UPS store. I mean, I once was charged $14 to have an item repackaged. I understand that they need to make a profit on the products and services they provide, but the treatment I got was insane. I rented a mailbox there for 6 months. $108. Everything was fine. When it came time for my box to expire, I decided I didn't want to renew. I asked about forwarding and was told by Rick it would be a $1 service charge plus the cost of a Priority Mail stamp per day that I got mail. I thought that seemed excessive, so I decided not to have it forwarded. Now it just so happened that I would be out of town on the date that my mailbox expired, so I went in and asked (a different employee) if they could just do me a favor and hold my mail for 5 days. He said fine. Rick calls me 2 days later, when I'm in Atlanta. He says they can't hold my mail. I ask why the hell not, since his employee told me specifically that he would since it was for a short period of time. He responded that they don't do anything for free. I said fine, ok, whatever, I'm a little mad that I was told the wrong thing but hey it happens. How about this: I'll pay you the $1 that you would charge me for forwarding my mail to hold it for a week. First he says no, you can extend your mailbox for a month for $38. Then he says ok, I'll hold your mail instead of forwarding it for $7.85. I ask, why $7.85? He says that's $1 plus the cost of the PM stamp, $6.85. I say that PM stamps are $3.85. He says we upcharge. I say, you really think upcharging 80% on a product is fair? He says I run my business the way I see fit, blah blah, been here 10 years, blah blah. I said fine. If you make a $3 profit on the stamp plus $1 charge, I'll give you $4. He absolutely blows up on me, telling me this is not a negotiation. Anyone who has that kind of a lack of temper for one of his CUSTOMERS, who's just trying to make a very short-term temporary arrangement, shouldn't be in business. I was ready to get another box here in the future if the need ever arose, but now I'm warning everyone I know off of this place. (Please note that this is only regarding the UPS store at 113 McHenry. I cannot comment on the quality of service at other locations.)
