Bad follow up service 5/3/2007

Update 2/22/08 9 months later I went back to have my frames adjusted. The owner did a fabulous job adjusting them for me (service I couldn't have gotten if I had ordered them online) and he also mentioned that the woman who was rude before is no longer with them -- that after getting complaints about the service, he has made some personnel changes. ************** I liked this store at first, but ultimately I am very unsatisfied with the price I paid, the amount of time it took, and what I ended up with. Previously I've gone to Lenscrafters type places but now I have vision insurance which will pay for some of the cost but not at the big chains, so I picked out this place. I already had a prescription so I can't say anything about the eye doctor. Their web site advertised vintage frames, but their selection was pretty standard. The guy who helped me explained that I needed to get glasses that fit the shape of my nose so they didn't slide around or put too much pressure on the bridge, which the old ones were doing, they were leaving a horrible mark. I felt he was very helpful and appreciated his advice. They didn't tell me (and I didn't realize) that the frames I picked were way too wide for me since I have astigmatism and the lenses are curved; these frames are wider than my old ones and they act like a magnifying glass on my temples and my face looks really wierd. This wasn't apparent when I tried them on because it was just plain glass, not curved glass. I feel like he should have warned me about that. But he did tell me that if I was unhappy for any reason, I could bring them back within 30 days. However when I did come back, the woman who was there spoke very little english and was not helpful. She told me they could not reuse the lenses in different frames, which I don't think is true, and followed me around the store while I tried to look at different frames, telling me that none of them would work. Finally she started arguing with me about the color of my frames, whether they look brown or black, and I left. If I had it to do over, I would definitely order some glasses online. I would have paid a lot less and would probably like them more. more
