Editorial review from Citysearch 10/25/2013

I have patronized Erin Hayes Shoe Repair for many years, even before the shop was purchased by the current owner. I have always appreciated the quality of their service and customer service UNTIL Saturday, September 28, 2013. A week prior, I left my brown dress shoes with the cobbler to be stained. I had spilled bleach on them and could not wear them. The cobbler (the short Romanian) assisted me as he has always done since his employment in this shop. He quoted me $10 for staining the shoes, and I paid him that amount. I was confident he would do a good job. I picked up my shoes on Wednesday, September 25th, and wore them on Thursday, September 26th. Unfortunately, the new stain rubbed off and the shoes looked horrible at the end of the day. I didn't discover the scuffed appearance until the morning of Friday, September 27th. When I returned the shoes to the store the next day, I was met with such rudeness and unprofessionalism by the cobbler. He obviously was in a bad mood and he argued with me repeatedly stating that if wanted the shoes stained, I would have to pay him $25. I told him I already had paid for the stain, and he began arguing that he only sprayed the shoes, and had not stained them. That's what the $10 was for. I told him I was not aware of any request for a $10 spray stain. I wanted the shoes stained. Had he initially told me the charge would be $25 for the stain, I would have gladly paid this amount. The quality of the cobbler's work has always been good and to my satisfaction. The cobbler angrily repeated that I had to give him $25 and he would stain them. I told him I was not going to do that because I expected him to stain the shoes as I had initially requested. We went round and round as another staff member looked on. Surprisingly, the cobbler took both shoes from me, and angrily wiped the brown spray stain off each shoe, then abruptly handed me $10. He then had the nerve to say, ""All right, now give me $25!"" in a demanding tone of voice. I was shocked at his negative attitude and couldn't believe what he had just done. His behavior deeply offended me. I took my shoes and $10 and left the shop. NEVER AGAIN WILL I PATRONIZE THIS REPAIR SHOP. After many years of patronizing this business, ERIN HAYES SHOE REAPIR SHOP has lost a very faithful and committed customer. I shall NEVER take my shoes to this business again. WARNING: Every potential buyer and customer should be aware of the negativism demonstrated by the cobbler and the lack of cleanliness and disorganized facility. Hopefully, Erin Hayes' new location will be able to keep a clean appearance and always demonstrate a professional and customer-friendly environment. Oh, I also agree 100% with the review comments written by Diane S. on 10/4/2012 and Stefan B. written on 6/29/2012. Both are right on target and give an accurate review of Erin Hayes Shoe Repair Shop. Shopper, be aware of this business. more
