I went to planned parenthood on Jan. 15, 2008 expecting nice, understanding people. I called them with an emergency because I found a lump in my breast. She got me in right away, and that?s when I explained to her that I had no money and no health care. She then told me not to worry because all I had to do was bring in a check stub, an id, my birth certificate and my children?s Medicaid letter and the whole thing would be free. I was also very taken aback when I got there and they told me since I was an ""emergency case"" I would be seen right away. Mistaken, it wasn't until an hour and a half later that they realized they haven't even given me any papers to fill out. Meanwhile, by the way, my two little kids where starting to fuss and scream because of the long wait. Finally I was seen by a doctor and she said that she can refer me to another doctor that is a beast specialist. I go to check out and they give me a very hard time because I didn't know the exact income my husband made monthly because he worked off commission. I keep asking them if I needed to call him and have him fax them some kind of proof of income and they were not even listening. They were very rude saying stuff like ?how do you not know what your husband makes.? I tried to explain that he makes money some months and makes nothing another. Then they proceeded to tell me I owned them money. When I told the nurse that when I called they said if I brought all those things they needed, the visit was to be free. She then said rudely ?Nothing is free.? I then called my husband and was able to tell the nurse an average number he makes per month. After that I asked how much I owed them and with an awful tone she said, nothing. That whole thing was completely uncalled for and there was no reason for their behavior. I will never go to that clinic again. When I finally left 2 1/2 housrs later my kids were screaming and I was late for work. I thought these clinics are made to help women?
