My third visit to Duo continued to delight in many ways, but left me a bit frustrated as well. Don't get me wrong -- the food is delicious and creative and the desserts are to-die-for. The ambience is charming. But, the wait for a party of four (reservations for fewer than six not accepted) on a Saturday night is now an hour to an hour and a half. I was hoping this was the worst-case scenario, but it was spot-on. And with the place overflowing with people, it's not like you can find a comfortable spot at the bar to accommodate your group while you wait. Anyway, we made it through that part (sorry to the couple trying to eat at the bar who I nudged about a dozen times) and were finally seated. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, she had to ask each of us to repeat our order; when the dining area is full, the noise level is fairly mind-numbing. Even at an intimate table for four, most of our evening's conversation went something like this -- ""Huh? What did you say? I didn't catch that."" Luckily, once the food arrived, we were all too busy enjoying our scrumptious meals to worry about talking over the drone of the crowd. And, by the time our killer desserts made it to the table, the place had thinned out a bit, and we were able to thoroughly enjoy ourselves. My advice: Check out Duo on a weeknight or go early or late. It's a great place -- and obviously very popular. Just be prepared for the downside of all the buzz.
