Like the reviewer before me, I am writing to let tourists and fellow New Yorkers that the Rooftop Cafe is most assuredly NOT a cafe, or a bar of any sorts. I read the descriptions on citysearch and was excited to check this place out, assuming it would be a swanky, artsy bar atop the Museum with interesting cocktails and interesting people. I take the elevator up, and immediately to my right is a sandwich cart. In disbelief, I poke my head around the rest of the roof, but to no avail. That cart is actually the cafe. Sure, the view is great, and it's worth a trip up there. But seriously, don't go up there for the ""bar."" You can buy an expensive beer (and, incongruously, a bag of chips as well), but why not enjoy the Museum sober and then go to a real Upper East Side bar?
