Chef Lahlou takes Moroccan food to ethereal levels using spices that delight the senses. Cocktails are a must with their muddled mash-ups.

The evening had many ups and downs. Our waiter didn't even bring us napkins for our laps. We had to flag down another waiter for napkins and this was after our first course had ar...

Way too overated 1/16/2003

The seating was extremely uncomfortable. the tables were too short and the chairs were uncomfortable. The staff was rude, in addition. Drinks were highly overpriced, $10 for a bad tating, weak mojito. I have eaten at much better places for a lot cheaper. However, we did do a family style dinner, which was $40 per person, you may be able to eat cheaper if you don't choose this option. Pros: Belly dancer Cons: Rude staff, uncomfortable seating, Drink prices too high more

an evening to remember 1/6/2003

A group of us dined here for a birthday party and it was fantastic. We had an amazing multi-course dinner that knocked our socks off. And the service was friendly and efficient. Having thought the host was rude on a previous visit, we were pleasantly surprised with the new hostess. Pros: food, service Cons: belly dancer more

fun, but overrated 12/28/2002

Overall the experience was ok. I made reservations for a Thursday night at 7:30pm, but when I arrived there was no one there. I was seated quickly, and the service was great throughout the night. Neither my date nor I had had Morrocan food before, so we both had a good time trying out the new food. But the drawback was that this place was overpriced and there weren't that many customers in the restaurant. Although it could be a romantic place, it was a bit too empty and casual for a romantic dinner. The restaurant could be improved if they required nicer dress to match the price of the food. Also, a bit more entertainment like live music in addition to the belly would help. I would go again solely for the food/experience, but only for a very special occasion. Pros: Unique Experience, Good Food Cons: Overpriced, Empty more

overpriced 12/18/2002

the food is wonderful, very exotic and all but 12 dishes and they charge $500? come on! we didn't order any drinks and it wasn't filling either. we made reservation but there were enough chair for us, some of us had to sit on a foot stool! hey, we made reservation - if you don't have enough chair please decline, no one wants to sit on a foot cusion. serverwas nice enough. there were belly dancer come and go, finger bowls... (atmosphere is great) but the food itself was not so top-notch! it is more of a entertainment service, not a gormet restaurant. Pros: fun Cons: expensive, bad parking more

Fun and Delicious 10/25/2002

On a Monday night, we ate dinner in a rather full and lively main dining room. The service was excellent, the wine list is only decent, the food was delicious. If you are looking for traditional Moroccan food, this is not the place. But for a delicious Moroccan nouveau experience with great service in a warm and inviting environment, this place is great. We'll be going back with friends next time. Pros: Great Service, good value, delicious food Cons: foggy neighborhood more

Good Moroccan, not great 8/30/2002

While I certainly had a good time here, I won't go back. The reason being that while the food is good, it is only just good and it is very over-priced. At Monsuer on California, we had a similar experience, but everything was just a little better. The service was better. The food was better, the price was (slightly) better. So for pretty much the same experience, we had a better time. Still, like I said, it is not bad here, but just not great. Also, for a ""romantic"" restaurant, it was very loud and people were practically in our lap even though it was only about 1/3 full. Pros: good food Cons: loud, so so service, expensive more

great place 8/19/2002

i went out for a trip last week to SF and this restaurant was very romantic and a great place for a date! more

almost there 8/12/2002

this place is almost there. food is good, especially the bastilla and the rabbit entree. Service is attentive, with nice gestures, like washing the hands with rose water. Atmosphere is comfy, with candlelit booth. A bit noisy to be romantic. Two things annoyed me: one, they are a morocan restaurant, but don't carry any wine from the south of the mediterrannee. A good sidi-brahim or something like that would be great on the wine list. Plus, these wines are cheap. And they complement the dishes well. Second: they ask everybody to vote for them in the citysearch best romantic restaurant. I know I won't. It's kind of tacky. more

Classy Entertainment/Excellent Food 8/6/2002

Aziza's is a breath of fresh air. The moment you walk into this creativly designed establishment you feel a sense of warmth and comfort. The staff is very friendly and attentive while the beautiful authentic belly dancers add a very classy touch giving you the full Morrocan feeling without imposing on your dinner. The food is of excellent quality, the best moroccan food i have ever had. The Service was quit and I was seating to the minute of my reservation. This is really turning into a hot spot in San Francisco. Pros: Great Belly Dancers, Excellent Food, Great Service more

Overall great experience 8/6/2002

I've been to Aziza four times, and each time, from the food, to the service, to the bellydancers, I have been beyond satisfied. The food is amazing, and you won't be able to ask for better service. I would recommend Aziza to anyone........you can't go wrong! more

Groups are welcomed 8/5/2002

I just want to say that Aziza was great with our group of 8 friends. The ambiance may be equaled but not surpassed. And this may only be my opinion but they have the sexiest belly dancers in the city. Take your social groups here folks, you can't lose. Pros: Ambiance, entertaiment, drinks Cons: none, worth, mentioning more

Superb!!! 8/5/2002

There are very few restaurants that can totally take you to another place in your heart, mind, and body. Aziza does just that, through the music, the atmosphere, the food, and, most importantly, the people. They are there to cater to whims, make suggestions, and, to a certain degree, fulfill the fantasy of the evening. Pros: Price is right!, Good service, Very romantic! Cons: Menu needs variations, Chilean Seabass, No cookies more

Macorro's spirit in the Bay Area ! 8/4/2002

The best Maroccan restaurant in San Francisco ever... The most romantic, the best service and food quality. more

Terrific 8/4/2002

Magnifique!! 8/4/2002

There are few places with as much ambiance and personality as Aziza. Since its opening late last year, it has become a favorite of ours. The food is consistently delicious, the wait staff are wonderfully service oriented, and the people watching is superb. It would be great though if they brought back those little cookies for dessert; they were a perfect little ending! Pros: price is right, people watching great, nice candles/soft Cons: drinks, expensive, miss old owner, too bright sometimes more

Very enjoyable 7/4/2002

I took a friend here as a birthday treat, and it turned out to be a great pick. We had reservations & zoomed right on in, were promptly seated and got very attentive service throughout (as opposed to at some places, where they're apt to ignore two women), right down to the candle in the desert that the waitstaff added after noticing the gifts being unwrapped ... We've each eaten at a no. of Moroccan places, and we liked everything we had here. We splurged on the full-menu spread and licked our fingers over everything, esp. the chicken/almond dish. It's a great addition to the neighborhood. more

cool place 7/3/2002

I had dinner at Aziza last Saturday night with a bunch of friends and the whole experience was so great. The food was top notch. Service was very friendly, and the atmosphere fabulous. The restaurant was very crowded but it all seemed to flow nicely and we didn't feel ignored. Great experience. Pros: different, hip Cons: crowded, loud more

male belly dancer? 6/14/2002

The food was good. The service was good. The male belly dancer was BAD. I guess the waiter was right when he said, ""we do things a little differently at Aziza."" Cons: male belly dancer more

Great! If your one of the lucky! 6/2/2002

We had reservations but still had to wait at the bar for our booth . WOW what a bartender, he was everywhere and made great drinks. Our table took so long that we settled for a crowded seat in the red room, loved the bastilla and the cornish hen was good, but the poor table next to us recived nothing , we joked with them at first when our appetizers arrived , even though they ordered minutes before us, but things weren't funny when our entrees arrived and they still had nothing. I felt sorry for them, they walked out, just about the time we opened our second bottle of wine, (from their very eclectic wine list.) the list was definitely advanced , but our server Solie recommended some deals on the list. We had a great time , at the expense of some poor unlucky diners I'm afraid. Pros: Great bastilla, Belly dancers, warm atmosphere Cons: no food at bar, some people ignored, seating to close more
