It's changed - BEWARE 10/21/2010

I used Alice Zotta several times with succes but my most recent experience was horrible. Alice is no longer working there (she is an assisted living facility) and the place has turned into a total rip off. I waited 2 and half months to have something reweaved only to show up and find that it wasn't reweaved by sewed over with a patch. shoddy work. I then took it to French America where they were able to fix it - costly but done right more

don't go near Zotta 11/25/2009

Alice Zotta is now in "assisted living" and the shop is being run by a relative. They appear to be shortstaffed. When I was recently told two months to repair a tiny hole in a cashmere sweater, the woman running the place started to shriek that she couldn't work any harder. Poor lady. Too bad; Zotta was always quirky but got the job done. Not worth leaving one's belongings to hope that they might return someday.... more

horrible experience 5/4/2009

Brought 2 pants in over 7 weeks ago to be reweaved. They promised to finish the pants in 4 weeks and said I had to pay in full. I called them 6 weeks out and pants were not finished yet. I called them today and they said they have no weavers and don't know when they can start on the pants. When I asked for my money back, they said they don't give refunds. They had no problem charging me $300 in advance but do not tell me when they cannot perform the service and don't even want to write a refund check. more

The Only Place to Repair a Suit 11/11/2008

Alice Zotta has been an institution in NY for decades. The new LIRR trains have arm rests that rip clothing. This the only store I would trust to fix a suit flawlessly. They repair a tear in fabric as though it was never torn. Truly amazing. There is no other place I know of that can do what they do. more

Incredible! 5/19/2008

I bought my first cashmere sweater at Saks in 1980. A year later, it had seven moth holes in the shoulder. Alice Zotta repaired it--and I'm still wearing it! It's as if the holes were never there! more

Terrible customer service 11/28/2007

This company has been reviewed by many newspapers and magazines as the best re-weaver, but my experience with them has been terrible. They may be good at re-weaving, but it took many months longer than they promised me to receive my ripped suit jacket. When I called them to see what the status was, they never called back. Always an excuse. Never an apology. Plus the rip in my jacket (small rip) cost over $100. I've already called them 8 times over the last 3 months. Buyer beware. more

Almost miraculous repairs on ripped fabric 11/24/2005

Re-weaving is truly an art and Alice Zotta is a master. I heard about this "secret resource" from a friend who worked at a very upscale store -- this is where they sent expensive damaged clothing for repairs. I brought in a wool blazer that had been slammed half in and half out of a trunk. There were 5 rips and holes. The repairs were so good that they were absolutely invisible. It was as if the fabric had never been damaged. I still don't know how it was done -- maybe magic. more
