I used to really like this place but due to our poor treatment tonight my friends and I will not be going back. We arrived at 7:30pm for my husband's 40th birthday celebration. ...

Very Nice 9/21/2005

We were wondering if we were still on Aurora, the atmosphere and food was so great, but then we saw a street-walker strolling down the sidewalk. Try the deep-fried cheesecake, it's strangely delicious. Everything we tried was very good. Is a little pricey though. Pros: Fast service, Easy parking, Great Food more

what a deal! 8/11/2005

They have very good sushi and rolls at reasonable prices. The best dish is the whole salt and pepper fried chicken for 16 bucks. This easily feeds four and very moist and tasty. Considering other restaurants charge 20 bucks or more for half a chicken, this is an inceredible deal. The service is casual and friendly. Go try it! Pros: food, value, free parking more

Excellent Sushi 1/28/2005

We decided to check this place out based on the citysearch review and the fact that we live in Greenlake and always no the lookout for good japanese. We had a party of 4 and tried some of the new types of sushi rolls that were on the menu. Highly recommend the Yamashiro Roll (house special) and the Red Dragon Roll (if you like Spicy/hot this is the one). We also tried a selection of Soju coctails which were somewhat tasteless, so if you really love soju go crazy on the coctails. I would return here in a flash and bring more friends with me. They have private rooms also which would be great for a larger group or celebration. Highly recommend you give this place a try, you will come back. Pros: prompt service, value for money, execellent fod Cons: it is in a strip mall more

Actually this place is quite good 11/7/2004

I admit I'm a bit of a restaurant snob who considers most restaurants north of 85th street the sole domain of fast food outlets or fare served along with a hefty dose of cigarette smoke and Budweiser. But this fresh and clean enclave of very good sushi and upscale saki is a pleasant surprise in the no-man's land of 137th and Aurora. Tucked in between some auto repair shop and other destination only businesses, Yamashiro's is easy to miss. Once inside you could be anywhere though. The sushi is high quality and portions generous for the price. I have to admit I like it a lot. The owner is very excited about bringing downtown sushidom to northend denizens and wants to serve and serve well. What more could you ask for? Well besides another location, more customers. So come on down since I'd hate to see this place go away. Pros: Excellent sushi, great price, caring owner Cons: , too bright inside more

awesome place to go! 10/3/2004

I went with some colleagues from work and was surprised by the welcoming and clean ambiance. Once inside, it is very easy to forget you are on Aurora. Great food. Great service. I'm going back with my family tonight for the long Sunday Happy Hour. more

Excellent! 8/31/2004

Who woulda thought you could find top notch sushi in North Seattle? Well, you can at Yamashiro Sushi Bistro. Moreover, their vast menu not includes great sushi but some classic meat/seafood dishes. Clean as a whistle, polite and efficient service, sophisticated atmosphere and really good food. Oh, and good parking outside. As good as Izumi or Kikuya on the Eastside or any of the Seattle institutions like Saito, Shiro's or Nikkos. Pros: Great Food/Service, Good Bar, Good Parking more

Newly discovered Sushi 8/29/2004

Sushi under four bucks?-that's what lured me to Yamashiro's late night happy hour. With friendly staff and a full bar, I had an awesome time at Yamashiro Sushi Bistro. I went back with my friends who do not care for raw fish because, believe it or not, there's something for everyone-including non sushi eaters and vegeterians. My best friend's favorite was the all natural beef steak and I had the Yamashiro Roll. We are anxious to go back next Sunday to try out a different roll on the happy hour menu. With more than 35 different rolls, we will be visiting Yamashiro for a very long time. I am so glad that I don't have to drive down to downtown for a great meal. Pros: excellent service, delicious food, great ambiance more

Fine dining / Fun bar scene 8/29/2004

Dinner was fantastic. The sushi was delicious and the restaurant offered an eclectic selection of other meals to dine on. The bar offered a wide selection of drinks. Service was prompt and the staff was attentive. more
