Best

Best idea ever. Late night dimsum in the lounge. The food is good and the drinks are wet. Great time to be had by all.

Worst

First off, I would definitely avoid any Americanized food here. My friend ordered General Tso's (I know, I know, but it should still be edible!) and it was gloppy and greasy, not...

Hygiene is not a word in this restaurant 2/22/2011

Wong?s King used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant until I found a fly on my Mongolian Beef. When I called the waiter and asked to see the owner or head waiter he responded that he was in charge at that time. He picked the fly with a clean spoon and said ?no more fly.? I refused to pay and he threatened to call the police, and my reply was let?s call The Health Department. more

Best dim sum In Portland 1/4/2011

food is always hot off the carts this is convenient for many located off Division instead of doing to downtown Chinatown and try to find parking. All items are about $4 each and you get get full under $20 for two people. Great finger foods and authentic taste more

Best Dim Sum in Portland 6/21/2010

Whenever I visit, I always feel like the only caucasian in the place. And, believe me, that's a good thing. The food and service both feel authentic. I think if you ask questions and are choosy, there is defiantely something for everyone. I try to go with at least 4-8 others; that way, if you don't care of a style of something, someone else will probably love it. I was there yesterday and was shocked at how much we all put away, and how delicious it was. Then, I was shocked at how low the bill was after 8 of us left completely stuffed. I don't live conveniently but try to get there at least every couple months. Yum, yum! Pros: Amazing Dim Sum, affordable, feels authentic Cons: Dim Sum is only Sunday mornings, I believe more

nice dim sum selection 5/8/2010

great food and great service, probably the best seafood restaurant next to the oceancity just around the corner. Pros: just like hongkong Cons: too busy more

Above Average Dim Sum 2/4/2010

While the food is on the greasy side, I expect that of Dim Sum. They have a pretty good selection of dishes that go around the carts. If you don't see what you like, there is a menu, which you can order your Dim Sum from. Pros: Taste Cons: Waiting in line to get seated / greasy more

I must have ordered the wrong thing... 1/8/2010

It has been some months since dining at Wong's King, but I can almost taste the sugary-sweet food like it was yesterday. The hot and sour soup had so much cornstarch that it coated my mouth like...well you can imagine. The egg rolls tasted kind of like cabbage twinkies. The lemon chicken was lovely white meat fried chicken breast completely drowned in 'lemon sauce' which is comparable to the lemon gel in a lemon-meringue pie. It was served on top of shredded iceberg which, becoming hot from the chicken, scented the whole thing with a strange musty smell. I desperately attempted to wipe the lemon candy sauce off of the chicken before it permeated the crisp breading but it was impossible. We had plenty of leftovers-but we left them on the table. What a shame. Pros: Giant blue cocktail with an umbrella Cons: Food more

One time wonder? 9/4/2009

Quite the cavernous place. The poor economy has certainly increased customer service and food quality around the city. I was a little slow hitting Wongs, and was a bit worried based on some web reviews. I found the service a-ok and the food delicious. The braised pork belly was worth fighting over. The clams were tender and very well seasoned. The whole squid was very tasty, but I don't think I am used to the BIG SQUID! We also bickered over the Sea Bass. I was hoping for the smoked sea bass rather than the fried sea bass. Our host was gracious enough to order both! The smoked sea bass was delicate with a subtle smokey flavor. The fried version was absolutely delicous as well. A bit thinner cuts, but with a much bolder asian seasoning. I found the meal fantastic. Did I mention the pork belly? I am looking it up on line right now to try and prepare it myself! Leftovers to be served to my co-workers at work only if I mess it up. Pros: Yum Yum YUm Cons: what's not to like? more

Does Not Maintain Regular Business Hours 6/21/2009

Agree, that Wong's Seafood has excellent food. However Wong's continues to close the restaurant on weekend evenings to carter to banquets. This happens on a regular basis, very poor customer relations. Therefore, we will probably not eat at Wong's anymore, unless they decide to maintain their regular business hours. I would encourage others not to eat at Wong's on weekend evenings until this issue is resolved. At least call ahead of time to see if they are open to the general public! Cons: Closes restaurant for banquets more

Dim Sum on my Mind! 3/23/2009

I am so in love with this place I can barely keep it out of my head. I had a lovely shrimp with scallions, ginger chicken in foil, seafood and pea, and these pork meatballs with mushroom. I also had eggplant which is never my favorite but quite good and the best was the dumpling with scallop. I can't wait til I can do it again. Slippery, sticky, and delicious. I have fallen madly again, indeed. Pros: Yummy steamed dumplings Cons: I can't eat there every day, tho I really want to. more

Real Chinese food in Portland 2/16/2009

Every town should have one of these places, from live seafood in tanks, to whole chickens, ducks and squab, and a whole bunch of other cool stuff that a white person like me probably won't like. The food all tasts amazing and the service was exactly what i expected in a Chinese banquet hall. Pros: real chinese food Cons: banquet style atmosphere more

Awesome Dim Sum 9/1/2008

We were looking for a new dim sum place, as we've been tired of the older on on NE Division. We tried out Wong's King and oh my it met and excelled beyond our expectations! The shrimp tasted like shrimp, the dumpling skins were thin and light, an everything was fresh and hot. We will be back soon. Pros: fresh dim sum, great sticky rice Cons: parking is crazy more

The Best Dim Sum Ever! 6/26/2008

This place is packed on the weekends and there's good reason why! The food is hot, fresh and there's so much variety it boggles the mind. The waiters are friendly and will explain what the dish ingredients are if you're not sure. The food is reasonably priced and I drive about 35 miles to get there and with the price of gas, that says a lot! This is so worth your effort and wait, which can be a long one if you come too late. I really recommend their humbow! Pros: Way fresh and plentiful Cons: too much to choose from more

great dim sum 5/26/2008

very great food, very nice atmosphere, this place is well worth the wait in line. when i saw how long the line was i new that the food or something had to be good, why would anyone wait an hour if it wasnt. when i was finally seated the dim sum is rolled around fresh so the wait isnt so bad when the food is readily available, it was very tasty and good prices Pros: food Cons: long line more

A swankier than average Chinese and Dim Sum palace 5/11/2008

Wong's King, although it is in a strip mall, definitely has a lot more ambience than your average Chinese place. The dim sum is great, with a wide variety of items on the carts with others available from a menu. Service, even on a busy holiday, was fast and responsive, although they did forget my potstickers at one point, a minor glitch. Everything was tasty. more
