Wally's Chowder House

Our dining experience at wallys chowder house was anything but good.The service was poor,our waitress had unsightly scabs on her arms that she could've covered with a long sleeve shirt.The chowder was so full of pepper that we got heartburn instantly.Then when we got our combo platters the oyster breading had even more pepper than the chowder making them inedible...moving on to the fish and scallops,they had a strong bitter taste as if they were cooked in old rancid oil-making them inedible also.It was over priced garbage that we threw away.We give wallys chowder house a 1 star rating because a 0 star rating isnt an option and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone.I remember when it was moby dougs-the food was good then more

Our dining experience at Wallys chowder house was horrific.The service was poor,our waitress had unsightly scabs on her arms,(a long sleeved shirt would have been appropriate).The food was over priced garbage that we took home and tried to eat but ended up throwing away.Someone in the kitchen has a fondness for pepper as they over did it in the chowder which we managed to eat-regrettably ,due to the instant heartburn, and the oyster breading making them inedible,the fish,shrimp and scallops tasted bitter as if cooked in rancid oil also making them inedible.I remember when it was Moby Dougs,the food was great then,not now.We will not be going back and We give it 1 star(no stars would be more fitting)nor would we recommend it to anyone. more

Wallys is a restaurant located in Des Moines by the marina. Wallys has been around forever and has great chowder! They also serve fish and chips, fried shrimp, as well as several different dishes of fish. Wallys has a great relaxed friendly environment that is also kid-friendly. Wallys is a great place to eat at when you are hungry for seafood at a reasonable price! more
