Voss Road Animal Clinic in Houston, TX. killed my friends dog! 10/13/2014

The women that work up front are pathetic. Very unprofessional. Rude. Stupid.\r \r They murdered my neighbors dog two and 1/2 weeks ago. They told my neighbor her dog had cancer. After surgery, (removal of the spleen) and some other stuff, turns out that the dog did NOT have cancer. They performed surgery on an assumption. Disgusting!!!!! They killed, (murdered) the dog.\r \r When they called and asked about cremation or burial, they also asked if my neighbor wanted a paw print. Of course the answer was yes. Well, guess what they didn't do before cremation?!?!? NO PAW PRINT!!!!!\r \r Do not under any circumstances do business with Voss Road Animal Clinic if you love and care for your pet. You will be sorry and so will your pet.\r \r From the minute you walk in that place, it's a zoo. None of the women behind the counter have a brain or IQ over 60. The most unprofessional vet clinic in Houston by far. more

$$All about the$$ 4/18/2013

Emily B. 4/18/2013\r The vets are nice and friendly they will run unnecessary tests and more tests just to get your bill higher.I have never left that place without paying at least 150..and paid 285 for my appointment today since the doc didn't really ask but rather told me what shots and meds he was giving ..They don't care about the needs of the animals or owners. The front desk is mass confusion..They have 3 receptionists and it takes 45 minutes just to check in/out.I don't understand how hard it is to communicate with someone sitting a foot from you..The Receptionist are unorganized, rude, and unprofessional more

dr mcguire almost kill my dog 5/14/2012

the other day I took my new puppy Isabella to doctor Mcguire, she was pretty sick, even though i told her not to take too much blood from my puppy since that could make her sugar drop, they did and as a result they called me 2 hours later, because her sugar had dropped from 50 to 20 and they didn't want to keep her there, all this after paying 600 dollars. i took my dying dog to another vet, and thanks god they got her back, and now she is as healthy as she can be. Pros: null Cons: null more

I agree w/Kearby and the others who assessed the vets as excellent, but the front desk staff as inefficient, clueless, with poor customer service skills. I have taken my dogs there about 3 times since moving to Houston 2 years ago. I have made appointments, but have been left standing at the desk for up to 20 minutes while they looked for my appointment information and records, then told to wait for a vet for another 20-30 min., then waited another 15 min. to check out - most of the time with the number of front desk staff outnumbering waiting (or exiting) patients. No one greets you when you come in. No one gives you a straight answer about billing, and, yes, I have received lectures about the importance of appointments and medical information, when I have provided both well ahead of time. I only go there because they are a bit less than other vets in the area, but the time and aggravation is no longer worth the few dollars saved. more

My Recent Experience 4/16/2011

It had been 3 yrs. Since my little kitty adopted me while sitting at a picnic table with friends. She was so malnourished she could have only been days away from dying. I rushed her to VossRd.Animal and the doctors worked with me financially to save her life. They called me @ work over a period of a week with updates and options. She is now the love of this retiree's life! Dr. Ben is famous in the Tanglewood area for his care of our precious animals! The medical staff remain 5 star. The people out front in 2011 are obnoxious. I was made to feel during the 30 minutes I had to wait, that I was some kind of idiot I hadn't brought my older cat in years, they were expressing among themselves how dissatisfied they were with their management, and how angry that they had to be there @ 6:00pm. They're the ones who told me to bring my cat (that I thought was in pain) @ 5:00. The vet was wonderful and reassured me she was not although she needed to lose a few lbs. When I came back to reception, more

Just Out To Make $$$$$--Love your pet and stay away 4/7/2011

Voss Road Animal Clinic is not in the business of caring for your pet....they're just in the business to make money. I had been taking my pets there for 18 years, but now that their bills are coming due on their building renovations, all they care about is $$$$! Two years ago my cat Buddy was diagnosed with hyperthryoidism and was placed on medication which I order by phone and have delivered by an independent vet pharmacy. A year ago VRAC refused to renew his prescription and said that I had to bring Buddy in for "blood tests and lab work", which I did to the tune of $250. Buddy was so traumatized by the visit that he did not eat and hid for 3 days! (Apparently the lousy tech couldn't find a vein and stuck him multiple times.) Now, a year later, VRAC will not renew his prescription until I bring him in for another round of $250 blood tests and lab work which will certainly kill him. He is 18 years old!! And had been doing great with this medication, and will probably do great for anot more

What's the point other than $$$$ for the clinic???????? Voss Road Animal Clinic just sentenced my Buddy to death so that they can make money! I hope that they can live with themselves....and Buddy comes back to haunt them. more

Only out to make money!!! 11/15/2010

I used to take my dogs there, but moved when our doctor changed clinics. There has always been a feeling that they are just out to make the most money they can on their patients. Regardless of what the pet (or pet owner) might need, they always seemed to have the most expensive option. more

I wouldn't recommend taking your pets to this clinic 3/22/2009

I am new to the area and took my 2 dogs to this clinic. My Golden Retriever needed a kennel cough shot and my German Shepard needed a heart worm test. I arrived early by 10 minutes for our appointment. When I got there, only one other customer was in the waiting area with her dog. While waiting, three other customers showed up with their pets. All the customers were taken before my two dogs and went in the back with their pets. When they called me, they would not let me go in to a room in the back with my dogs. They asked me to wait in the lobby. I asked why and said that everybody else went in with their animals. I was told that what I needed done didn't require me to see the vet and that I also needed to have made an appointment. Well, I did make an appointment for the visit. It was the first time that I have ever been to a vets office where I could not go with my dogs into a room. I had no verification of what what services were performed.I would not recommend taking your pets to th more

Great Clinic 8/17/2008

When I lived in the Galleria area, I used this clinic for over 10 years. Dr. Hays was my vet and I felt he was the best. I moved to Dallas and his brother cared for my baby. Moved back to Houston and came back to Dr. Hays. He cared for my 16-1/2 year old Pom for almost 10 years of her life. He was there for me when it was time for her to pass. He was very compassionate. I no longer am able to use this clinic, I live in The Woodlands now, but I highly recommend them. I do agree with the other people that reviewed this clinic, the staff could use a little lesson on professionalism and customer service. more

Excellent Vets, extremely unproffesional front desk staff! 2/23/2008

We have been taking our 6 pets there for the past year. We LOVE Dr. Landry. He is an excellent vet, very personable, friendly, knowledgeable, and answers any & all questions in detail. We recently had him perform surgery on one of our babies, he was very nice through the entire process & called us regularly for updates on how our puppy was doing, asked how he was healing, and if we had any questions for him.\r We are leaving this clinic because of the chaotic, unproffesional, misinformed, and very disorganized front desk staff. \r They regularly charge the wrong amounts, pull up incorrect files, their records are NOT updated the way they should be, breed info is wrong, if you're not careful they will charge you a new patient fee every time you go in, they forget that you are STILL waiting to be seen by a vet 30 mins later.\r We understand that they ARE a very busy clinic, but think that that ought to be all the more reason to have organized and competent front desk personnel. more

Good vets but Horrible front desk staff 1/2/2007

I have been using these Vets since I moved here 1 year ago. I really like all three of the Vets, but their staff is rude and sets up shots and treatments that are not necessary. My dog was given rabies shots that were not due until 1 more year because the "girls in the front" said he was due. Not really good to rely on the "girls in the front". Also I set up an appointment for them to see one of my puppies that had a scratch on his eye-told them I just needed some antibiotic cream for it-they said they were busy-just drop him off and they would get the vet to look at it in his spare time. I called back about 15 min. later and they said they were going to have to sedate him. It was an obvious scratch- the puppies were just playing a little rough. I told them I would pick him up and of course when I got there- they handed me antibiotic cream. Now when I call the staff is noticably rude and puts me on hold for a LONG time. I am changing Vets because of the staff in the front desk. They never had been nice, but now they are really not nice. Pros: The Vets are friendly Cons: To get to the Vets you have to go through the Uncaring Front desk staff more

Not a good experience 12/13/2006

I believed my pet was horribly misdiagnosed and put through many days of unnecessary agony before they found what should have been found almost immediately. I won't be going back, even though it is really close to my house. more

Good service 11/20/2005

They'e close to where I work, so I gave them a shot. I could not be happier. They saw me in a reasonable time, and they had Calvin back on his feet before I knew it. The prices were fine, so I'd definitely go back. more

good clinic; nice staff 11/8/2005

We bought a yellow lab puppy who had been given all of his initial shots here. When we asked for the paper work to send to a vet near our home, the staff was very pleasant and helpful. Even though I had to request it again because they didn't send it after the first request, I was pleased that they sent it at all since we weren't the actual clients of theirs. They seemed to really care about the animals and were very nice despite the disorganization we saw. more

The staff at Voss Road Animal Clinic are so kind and patient and understand that our pets are our babies. They had the unfortunate task of telling me my precious cat would have to be put down. I couldn't have asked for more wonderful people to help me through such a tramatic event. I highly recommend this clinic. I will never take any of my pets anywhere else! Pros: sympathetic, kind, patient more
