very unique 10/9/2008

I have eaten here twice. The food both times was outstanding and was served uniquely! The Passionfruit Souffle [sp?] and the banana dessert is to die for. Some apetizers and desserts need slight assembly! Which is fun! I don't quite know how to explain it other than they had great plating. Their thai food was much different than any other thai restaurant I've been too. It had a different fresher flavor. It was a cozy nicely decorated environment. Pros: food, plating, environment, service Cons: parking more

Worst Hostress 10/31/2007

I have always been a food lover, enjoy a great meal either with friends or by myself. From New York and had a decent exprience at Vong midtown, I decided to give this one a try to while on a business trip. \r What a mistake! I have never felt so humiliated by a hostess. Was told that the dining area doesn't have any table for one and suggested to sit in the bar area as it offers the same menu. \r I waited for 5 minutes before she pretentiously noticed my presence and rudely implied to help myself. Not until I layed my backpack on the booth chair, she commented that the table was reserved. \r Although I never got the chance to criticize the food, was glad that I walked out of it. I went to next door called Vermilion, an Indian Latin restaurant. What a day and night experience, one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. more

If you love CABBAGE... 4/18/2007

I've been here several times and enjoyed myself. But last week I had the chef's special and honestly, $20 for a small bit of fish and a big plateful of cabbage is not what I'm looking for when I go out. Not that it was bad tasting, I just couldn't believe they'd serve that dish in a restaurant. That being said, the curries are good, and the appetizers & deserts are very good, although far more American than Thai. The drinks are also very good, especially if you have a sweet tooth. I would definetely recommend this restaurant but stick to items on the regular menu as the chef lacks inspiration when he's left to his own devices. Pros: Drinks, appetisers, ambience Cons: Strange specials more

Just the same old generic US version of suedo asain whatever 1/30/2007

Skip it and find somewhere in any way authentic. Staff had no clue. Duck pancakes looked like Pita bread ..should be very thin not to mask flavours. \r Decor looked like PF chang/opera/Big Bowl etc etc have some imagination please..\r Some silly shpeil about Asian/French/Thai influence. Rubbish! Pros: Conference winner Cons: Nothing authentic or new more

I like going here a lot 12/14/2006

I've been to Vong's about 4 times and have always had fun. It used to be a lot closer to where I lived, but I still go there. Service is great and food is pretty good quality. I actually re-met an old college mate of mine there, so that adds to it too. REALLY nice appetizers. Pros: GREAT appetizers more

Sooooo Good.... 11/28/2006

Of all the Jean Georges restaurants, why does this one have to be so far from NYC...My girlfriend and I ate here during our trip to Chicago this summer...the food was some of the best I have ever tried...the panaang curry was awesome and the pad thai rocked...the drinks were strong and tasty...even if it's non alcoholic the raspberry lemonade was terrific...the deserts, while tiny, were great too...for a moderately upscale place, the prices were great too...I would go again and again...if i wasn't a thousand miles away...i guess delivery is too much to ask... Pros: Food, atmosphere, food more

Great food, great service 11/26/2006

I loved this place!! The atmosphere was romantic and modern. The wait staff knew the menu and were able to answer the many questions we had. Food was served quickly and was fantastic! Dessert was a little to expensive, I think. Nine dollars for a little lava cake is hardly worth it! Overall great dining experience. Pros: Food, ambience, service Cons: price more

Love the Pad Thai 11/3/2006

Great food! One of my favorite restaurnats in Chicago. I highly recommend the lobster and shrimp pad thai! Pros: Excellent menu Cons: Can be a littel noisy more

I LOVE VTK! 8/16/2006

The ambience is very nice and the food is excellent! If you want to try a little of everything, definitely get the 'per person' menu. The mixed drinks are also yummy and quite exotic. Plus, it's not too pricey. Pros: Ambience, Food more

Amazing Value 8/1/2006

This place has excellent food, excellent service, and is surprisingly affordable. If you like it spicy, I highly recommend the hot red curry beef (divine!) Pros: taste, location, service Cons: They don't have one in my hometown more

fantastic! 7/8/2006

We visited Chicago for the weekend and wanted to try something new. VTK was fantastic! We shared the group dining and got to sample many things, there wasn't one thing that we did not love. The price was right, service was good. I would recommend making a reservation though, we had to wait about 45 minutes, but very well worth it! Pros: Atmosphere, food and price Cons: Air conditioning was really cold more

Good food, noisy restaurant 5/26/2006

The food is good and we have been there a couple of times. It is quite a noisy place though and be sure to only go when you have made reservations. When we went, we ended up waiting even though we had reservations. Their bar is small and gets crowded. more

Slow, very good. 3/30/2006

The food was good, but it took a good 30 minute between each course. Pros: Service, Good food Cons: Slow service more

Great ""look"", Food, not so great 10/24/2005

It's fun, hip, & in good location--since there are bar/lounges a short walk away. The food however, is just ok. If you want above average, delicous thai food, I wouldn't suggest this place. If you want ""the look and feel"" of a trendy hot spot, then it delivers. Pros: location, trendy, fun Cons: average food more

The food grossed me out 10/15/2005

The ambiance was great, however the food was awful. I got the Panang Curry Chicken. Most of the chicken was dark meat and several pieces still had skin on them. I would have sent it back if I hadn't already lost my appetite. I'll take $6 takeout from the local thai place over this food any day. I would suggest staying in the bar and sticking to the drinks! Pros: nice atmostphere, good service Cons: sub-standard food, small portions, seating is tight more

Thai food it's not 8/18/2005

I really wanted to like this restaurant and I did. Just not for the main reason- the food. The food was average and highly priced. I would not go back for the food. I enjoyed the ambiance, the waiter was very attentive, and our drinks were fabulous. Too bad I can't say the same for the entrees. Pros: drinks, ambiance Cons: bad food, expensive more

Fantastic Service 2/25/2005

Recently visited this great little spot. The food was high quality, ambiance is refreshing but the SERVICE was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and attentive waitstaff more
