truth is stranger than fiction 12/7/2012

i have read some of these reviews. some are totally false. irishlonewolf and chad s are the same person. this person came in for service. his battery had jumper wires attached to it. the service thought he should replace the battery as it was dead. he didn't have permission to do so. when the customer came in he was told of the events. he said he wasn't paying for a battery and would dispute the bill. he was showed on test equipment on the counter that it was no good. he was told he wouldn't have to dispute the bill, the battery would be removed and takebn off the bill. he wouldn't have that. he wanted the battery but kept saying he was going to dispute the bill. he was tolfd the old battery would be put in and he wouldn't have to worry about that. he would not let anyone put the old battery in. he took it off the counter.\r \r so yes he left with a bike with no battery in it by his decision.\r \r \r we have been in business for over 60 years. you don't stay in business with out taking car more

They Destroyed my Bike 9/11/2010

I took my bike there for routine maintenance. I wish I hadn't now. My bike was in perfect condition, several upgrades and less than 10,000 miles. It was a beautiful bike that I loved.\r \r Short story, they dropped by bike off the lift (because they never use straps to secure the bikes when they work on them), and now it's totaled. They were very unsympathetic and didn't care that it was my only vehicle. They offered me book value and they keep the bike, so I'm waiting to hear from their insurance company.\r \r Bottom Line - NEVER go to Troy City Garage. The owner is an ass and they have no clue what customer service even means. more

cheap 9/1/2010

Their bikes are cheap, so buy one and don't go back. As to the others complaining about their service, do it yourself you lazy bastard. more

always good to me 6/12/2010

been there many times, have always been treated with respect. have been there once when customer was a complete a--hole. it is tiough to deal with the public i guess. sometimes you get back what you dish out . i have purchased several machines and had service done. they always called me if something was more wrong with my machine. more

another unhappy customer 6/7/2010

Here's my story.. After buying a WR450 from Herba Honda in Perth, the electric starter would lose the key that held it into the crank. This happened 8 times. Finally, after threatening to sue Herba (bluff) they gave me a YZ450F. After a short time I noticed that it took way more oil than it should have. I brought it to Troy City Garage. \r \r I went there one day and the motor was laid out on the floor in a million pieces. The bike mechanic told me that pieces were missing inside. The owner saw me standing in the bay and started yelling at me. I get it, insurance reasons. Bt when I'm paying $1004.00 I don't want you screaming at me.\r \r Months later I went back and this 4 foot tall sales puke who had previously been overly nice when I was looking at new bikes asked me if he could help me. I was standing at the parts counter. I asked if the guy that worked the parts counter was around. I forget his name now, but he was a nice guy. The shrimpy sales puke told me he had been let go and then more

Advertised price isn't everything 3/8/2010

I went to troy city garage looking for a bike for my wife. Don't touch the bikes, don't sit on them was the response we got. At the time they did have to many bikes on the floor and very close together. I can understand wanting to have alot of inventory on the floor, but if you have to wait for 15 minutes or more and can't help yourself to see what might be a good fit.....whats next take a number and wait for the next available salesperson. Went to Sportline in Queensbury and bought her a bike there. They have class at that dealership and the most helpful staff. I have bought at Seymours and they are very nice to deal with also. Troy city....not happening. more

Troy City Garage TROY, NY poor customer service 3/7/2010

Unfortunately, I have to agree with most of the other reviews on here. Troy City Garage in Troy NY is one of the worst dealers I have ever encountered. Very rude and technically incompetent sales guys. I would not recommend this place other than just to window shop and then take our business elsewhere. more

Troy City Garage Inc is unknowledgeble about its products!! 10/13/2009

Service department is terrible. When I asked what type of oil to put in the rear differential of my Kawasaki Prairie, they told me std. 90 weight oil. The Prairie has a special wet brake system and takes hydraulic oil!! I am glad a friend stopped me or I would have ruined the back brakes. Do not go there!!! more

Check Your Fillters, Fluids, Bolts, and Rear Ends... 7/1/2009

What a joke! The place has the best selection with the worst service. Who owns this place? I hope not that Jim guy! They have serious management issues! I bought a brand new kx 250f in 6/09 and upon inspecting the air filter after my first ride at a sandy track i noticed their was NO air filter oil on the filter or around the seal! The manager tells me to bring the bike back and he will put some oil on it! Sweet! What is the $65 prep fee for and should i check the oil, coolant, and all the bolts too?? Never buying there again! more

The epitome of rudeness! 5/21/2009

I would recommend that you never visit this place. I went to look a couple of bikes and was yelled at for touching one. I found out that this is normal procedure, so in my opinion it is not worth saving a few dollars to be treated by such rude jerks. more

Good prices, HORRIBLE customer service!! 4/28/2009

These guys are terrible; I have had 2 separate experiences with them and both were really unacceptable. I went in to look around and buy a bike here, and it took the sales guy a good 10 mins to walk over. Finally he did, and he simply stood there giving me this look like "Either buy it or get out; either way, don't touch it you'll break it." No info about the bike, no real help in answering my questions, generally silent and non-conversational the whole time. I called up a few times after the sale, and he acted like he didn't know me! \r \r I was given a $150 Tourmaster jacket for Christmas bought here, and the seam ripped a few days after I bought it. I took it back in to complain, and the guy behind the counter acted like he didn't care if I was dying, and suggested that "I would have to take it up with the rep, and maybe I could leave it for him, he should be in sometime in the next few weeks." FEW WEEKS??? Puhleese, that is so ridiculous. I've spent over $5,500 between the bike and t more

DO NOT GO HERE 1/16/2009

Last night I took my son to troy city garage to get an atv for his birthday. The salesman was the rudest person I have ever encountered in a customer service venue. He was very unhelpful and didnt even seem like we were worth his time to help. I am 28 and my husband 26, maybe he thought we looked like kids, and didnt know what was going on. We asked him many questions all with snippy rude answers in return. How can you build a client base like this? I dont know, but if you want to be treated with respect, you should choose a different shop. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone, please buy somewhere else. Cons: everything more

Huge selection and amazing prices! 1/7/2009

I was in the market for a new sportbike and was looking at each of the Japanese 1000cc bikes. After researching a bunch of different bikes I decided on a Kawi Ninja. This shop was routinely around $1000 (at LEAST) LESS on machines than EVERYONE else in the area...seriously. I couldn't believe it. They also stock all four of the major brands in bikes/ATVs (Honda, Kawi, Suzuki, and Yamaha)...and it was awesome to be able to see all the different models in one place. I've heard that the staff is rude, but I had no issues at all. I've also brought the bike back for service and had no problems with them, either. It was a great experience overall...especially considering how much cheaper my bike was! I bought all my gear (boots, jacket, pants, gloves, etc.) with the money I saved...seriously! more

Don't ever go here (In my opinion) 10/29/2008

I recently went for service at Troy City Garage. It was horrible. No communication about what was going on with my bike, my perfectly good battery was replaced without my authorization. I was treated rudely when I disputed the issue and instead of making right on the deal, I was kicked off their property with a dead bike that they refused to fix. How about that for customer service? I would never go there again and am curently suing the company and notifying the state offices about them. In my opinion you are a fool if you go here. Be smart. Take your bike, ATV or watercraft elsewhere. I brought my bike in running good and after paying more than three hundred dollars for service I was kicked out on to the street for disputing it with a bike that would not run without further repair. DON'T GO HERE!\r \r Pros: None\r \r Cons: Just about everything they did more

Worst Customer Service I have ever experienced!!! 8/25/2006

I went in to get insurance, jacket, pants, helmet, gloves and more after purchasing an 18k bike and was treated with the utmost disrespect from one of the owners! I stood around waiting for help and when I asked for help from someone sitting in an office I was TOLD TO exit the office and go back out to the counter and wait until someone could assist me...I was the only customer in the place and will definitely not return for a snowmobile purchase this winter. The owners are known to be rude and feel they have a captured market...what a waste of a business. PROS: NONE...RUDE!!!!! CONS: NO CUSTOMER SERVICE OR RESPECT. more

Good service, not so friendly staff. 11/30/2005

Troy City Garage is overall a very good company. I've been going there for a few years for dirtbike parts and riding accesories. They usually have what you need in stock or can have it for you within a day or two. The staff there are sometimes rude. You have to speak up and ask for service most of the time, otherwise you'll ifnd yourself standing at the parts counter waiting. more
