Here ye, here ye:
Totem House is a small fish and chips shanty close to the Ballard locks. As opposed to some of the other close fish huts, this one has indoor seating…both in the restaurant and in a semi-permanent, adjacent tent. For some reason I got a very strong (and awesome) ‘high school, tastee freeze’ vibe from the whole experience.
I don’t know if I’ve ever eaten more predictable food. Nothing to differentiate between this meal and the same one I had at Ivar's in a mall food court 7 years ago. It was pretty good and tasted exactly like…fried fish and chips. I was ecstatic to discover their fountain drinks had Diet Dr. Pepper, somewhat of a rarity (especially when they don't even have regular Dr. Pepper). I feel compelled to say the combo meal was ‘a little pricey’, but I’m beginning to realize I say that about everywhere I eat and that the problem probably lies with me rather than any and all restaurants I eat at. A filling two piece combo with soda was $10 or so. Overall? A pretty decent place to gorge yourself on grease.
