Very Disappointed 1/10/2012

You be the judge: waited 45 minutes, saw Dr. for 20 minutes, was charged $564 (self insured) for unnecessary biopsy and minor procedure. Examination room untidy and ill-equipped. Would never recommend. Chose Dr. because of convenient location. more

Very nice & will save your life 5/16/2011

I liked my appointment with Dr. Finesmith. She is nice and low-key, and somehow made me feel very comfortable about doing the exam of my whole body. Dr. Finesmith thoroughly examined me, and identified my little ongoing skin skirmishes which had concerned me, as a non-threatening common change for someone my age. With just the right amount of medical information, she educated me about what the differences would be if it were something dangerous, but told me to come in and have everything reviewed visually at regular intervals and especially with any further concerns. I also am not sure what kind of experience those reviewers that gave a negative review had with Dr. Finesmith or what they were after. She is plenty friendly ( or as friendly as I need a doctor to be). What's most important, is that she knows what to do to protect you from skin cancer and will biopsy what really needs to be biopsied. I believe that she may have saved my best friend's life. Dr. Finesmith ended up doing a intricate surgery for a what turned out of be, a carcinoma on the top of this friend's knee, or all places. My friend is a nurse and thought it was just an infection from gardening that wouldn't quite heal up. My friend has been skin cancer free now going on three years and is quite thankful to be under Dr. Finesmith's care. Dr. Finesmith takes a lot of insurances, and her staff makes it easy to see her. Another plus is that the area in Ballard, where she has her office, still has a lot of easy on- street & free parking. more

Great 5/22/2010

I have been seeing Dr. Finesmith for about three years. After living in a tropical climate for many years, I am concerned about skin cancer. I have had several ""spots"" frozen off and a few moles removed plus a few other minor skin conditions. I like her matter of fact demeanor but she is also friendly and conversational. I agree that she has received either very high remarks or very low-not much inbetween. Personality differences maybe? Pros: No drama, No Upsell more

Her treatments 4/26/2010

I have been a patient of Dr. Finesmith for over 7 years, as well as my husband. I have always found her to be straight forward, and not one to add additional tests or treatments to pad her pocket. Pros: Honest, Truthful more

Unprofessional 3/3/2010

On my last visit, I was charged $125 over the office visit because I had not been in for 2 years (gee, I didn't need to go every 6mos/year!). Even though my insurance paid the entire office call, and $24 of this ""extra charge"" Tina was unwilling to negotiate, though I'd been a patient for 5 years. Cons: Extra charges for visits over 2 years more

Don't know what the 1-stars are about 1/8/2010

I decided to go to Dr. Finesmith mainly for her convenient location in Ballard. After reading the reviews I didn't know what to expect of my visit. Seems like people either loved her or hated her - which camp would I join? Pros: Friendly, efficient front office, experience Doctor, Ballard more

Professional and Effective Care 3/5/2009

I had a couple conditions, she explained what they were and my treatment options. She also took a culture at the infected spot to ensure an effective treatment plan. I was called promply by Dr. Finesmith with my results. I also thought she seemed genuinly dedicated to helping me. I'm going back for a follow up and would definitley recommend her more

Office/ doctor needs help 1/21/2009

Worst dermatologist ever! Been to many and have never felt the way I felt walking out of her office. more

As it turns out, not accepting credit cards is a giant hassle. 1/6/2009

I thought Dr. Finesmith was mostly okay during the two examinations I had with her. A little curt during the first one, but she wasn't an ogre or anything. more

I didn't realize that bad bedside manner meant 10/7/2008

I was recommended to this doctor by my parents' dermatologist. I was told she was trying to ""build her practice."" I made an appointment and I was told they only accept cash or check. I found that to mean ""it's a really small practice and may not be a quality experience"" so I came to citysearch to check it out. Thank goodness I did, so I was prepared for her ""bedside manner"". She treated me as though I had no understanding of my own body. She cut me off when I tried to explain the issues I was having, she got impatient with me for not being able to give her an exact time period I'd been having a condition, and she spoke down to me. We were short on time and she cut my appointment short. This was actually because her receptionist couldn't get ahold of my insurance company so I had to wait an extra 20 minutes before she would see me. Pros: I got prescriptions Cons: I have to find a different dermatologist. Like I'd go back there again. more

I am a medical professional and am very pleased 9/2/2008

I am a medical professional and believe that I am in a good position to evaluate the care that I have received from Dr. Finesmith. Her service is professional, straightforward, and medically appropriate. I am completely satisfied and cannot explain her negative ratings. Additionally, making an appointment is easy, office waits are short, and the visit is quick and to the point. Many dermatologists have blurred the line between medicine and cosmetic procedures. Dr. Finesmith is very much upfront about the fact that her practice is focused on the serious side of dermatology. The office setting is not glitzy or intimidating, but it is nevertheless modern and pleasant. Pros: Scheduling, Straightforward approach, Non-intimidating office environment Cons: Not focused on cosmetic dermatology more

Very surprised by the negative reviews 7/15/2008

I was a bit nervous before my appt based on the harsh negative reviews, but they couldn't be more far off. I was seen promptly by the doctor herself (rather than sequestered to a room by a nurse for a half hour) and she was friendly and straight forward with her assessment and treatment. All of my questions were answered, we had some friendly chat about an existing condition I have and I was out and on with my day. Seriously, if there were 6 stars I would have given them to her. Don't be worried about the negative reviews, she's great. Pros: On time, easy to find, easy parking, smart. Cons: Cash or check only, but there's an ATM next door. more

i still itch. 3/18/2008

and guess what... i still itch. Pros: ballard has a good sunday market Cons: everything about my experience with ""dr"" finesmith more

Dr. Tina Finesmith 1/2/2008

For several years, I have visited Dr. Finesmith for annual routine skin exams and help with occasional moles, etc. She is very professional, knows what she's looking at, and gets the job done. I prefer her professional and matter-of-fact approach - she is direct and doesn't waste your time (I don't need to be coddled). Recently she found a suspect mole on the back of my arm that I had not noticed. She was recommended to me by one of the best skin cancer doctors in Seattle. Pros: She's a pro, direct, I like the short appointments more

Knowlegable and direct dermatologist 1/2/2008

I have visited Dr Finesmith's office and had very satisfactory treatment. I have also referred my sister. And my boyfried is her patient as well. We have all shared our experiences and have recommended others for treatment. I know she has many satisfied clients and it is unfortunate that a couple of complainers can ruin her reputation with this web site. more

Tina Finesmith MD Dermatologist 11/8/2007

I have been seeing Dr. Finesmith for about ten years. She is professional and smart and funny and is always friendly while getting her job done. She has a sense of confidence in her work that is comforting to me. She always makes me feel comfortable, even when I'm in for a procedure that isn't necessarily fun. She takes time to listen, answers all my questions in a thorough manner. I never feel like I'm being rushed in her offce. I highly recommend her. She's the best dermatologist in town. Pros: Easy parking, easy access, sometimes has free samples in her waiting room :) more

dr finesmith 9/25/2007

my family doc referred her to me. no bedside manner to speak of. short, curt, late....sorry, but i would never recommend her. find someone that will take a sincere interest in you. Pros: late, late, late more

Scrooge 5/20/2007

This doctor seems to be just concerned with the $$$-no nurse, curt attitude--a definite scrooge. I would not refer friends and family to her! Pros: she has appointments open Cons: bad attitude and service more

Dr. not -so- fine smith 4/24/2007

After procrastinating out of fear of the results of a mysterious bump on my arm, I finally made my appt with Dr. Finesmith upon a referral from my naturopath. I was able to get an appt in a timely manner, and the staff was very nice and helpful. I arrived, filled out the appropriate paperwork and was called in and with in 10 minutes of being in the room with her, I had to just leave. I have never been so offended by a professional. She completely belitted my concerns for the health of my skin....not a good move for a skin doctor. She told me that she knew exactly what she was going to find before she even looked at it and when I commented on how big I thought it was, she just snickered and said..""yeah, big"" in a most sarcastic way. I am going to call my doctor who referred her to suggest that she not refer her anymore......and I will NEVER recommend anyone to this NASTY woman's practice. more

My experience not so rosy... 3/2/2007

I got Dr. Finesmith's evil twin sister, judging from the other reviewers, but I had a horrible experience at her office. I showed up a bit early for my appointment, and the office door was locked, and then when the doctor finally came to open the office, she was talking with her first appt, looked over at me, and asked me ""what are you doing here?"" as bluntly as if I had wandered off the street. more
