The Spa Doctor, Inc

Due to a contract I have with The Spa Doctor to refurbish spas for me and because of this relationship I'm in their store a lot. I hear a lot of conversations Bill has with his employees and a lot of conversations with customers.\r Does he make mistakes? Yes, he's human. Does he fail to keep repair appointments? Yes, because sometimes he can't get the parts from suppliers. Does he cheat people or provide bad service? I don't think so. I've seen him eat thousands of dollars just because there was a chance he or his employee made a mistake. But I also see this; it's amazing how many times a customer mis-\r represents or flat out lies about their real situation. And then when Bill can't complete a job because of this bad information from the customer, the customer is embarrassed by being caught in a lie and turns it into a bad or dishonest Spa Doctor. And those are usually the ones that will post on forums like these. There actually are a lot of flakes in the spa business, too many. But there are also some very good ones and the Spa Doctor is one of the best. That's why I chose to use them to take care of my customers and they have proven it was a good decision. more

This company knows nothing very little about spas, but they know a helluva lot about the upsell and repeated service calls which bring in money for them.\r If you have this joker come out, be prepared to get your ears talked off about nonsense that has nothing to do with your problem. And, if you have cloudy water, get ready for the excuse when he cannot get it clear. Bill,,,drum roll......PHOSPHATES! Bill blames everything on phosphates, even though our neighbors has no cloudy water issues. And if he tells you you need a different filtratration system, escort him FIRMLY to the door. \r The Spa Doctor is a joke. more

The Spa Doctor has been our primary source for all of our spa needs. They are always there for us. Bill is an extremely honest and upfront individual. His wife, Rose, is so cordial and always there to help us out. We have had problems with our two spas within the last ten years and we would never ever consider going to any other spa company. They are thorough and always upfront with their diagnosis. I have checked around for pricing and The Spa Doctor fall in the middle with their charges. They are not the lowest in price, but not the highest either. I would recommend anyone having a problem or thinking of purchasing a spa, to check with The Spa Doctor first. I know you will not be disappoint. more

Make sure not to corelate this company with the Spa Doctor in Modesto, Ca. They are two separate, completely UNRELATED companies. They have no connection or affiliation with each other. \r \r The Spa Doctor in Modesto has been owned and operated by Steve Goldstein and has been a small, friendly and customer oriented family business since 1986. They sell sell the Hot Spring family of spas as well as Lopi and Mendota fireplaces and stoves, among many other products for the pool, spa and home. They service everything they sell have a stellar track record.\r \r Other than the name itself there is absolutely no ties between the two companies. more

What a Rip off! The owner Bill is a Jerk and they have the worst customer service. Just watch the hidden charges pile on. Don't say I didn't warn you!! more

We had Spa Doctor out to repair our old spa. They told us it needed a new motor / heater etc. They couldn't quote an exact price as they had to take the assembly back to the shop. I asked them what the 'worst case scenario price' would be and they said $500 max- for everything. We agreed and off they went with the unit. They came back a few days later and installed the repaired (NOT new) unit and then gave me a bill for $900+! Labor was not included in their quote! But hey, they did throw in a new light bulb for free. After all that the motor never did operate correctly- it would never cycle off when it reached temperature. We had to plug and unplug it daily. We called and they said they'd come out for an additional charge (to fix their mistake!). Well, not 2 years later and their 'repair' crapped out (and yes, we kept the water balanced). We called someone else who toook one look at Spa Doctor's work and informed us that all the splicing of wires was unsafe. Do yourself a favor and choose anyone other than Spa Doctor for your repair! more

The service we received from the Spa Doctor was horrible. They charged a service call to come out and misdiagnose our problem. Then when it didn't fix it, they wanted to charge an additional labor charge to come out and install parts that they 'guessed' are the problem, since their first guess was wrong. Then the parts took longer to come in than quoted, and they didn't even call to let us know they weren't coming out on the scheduled day. The owner Bill is extremely rude. They tried to trick us into more fees by not mentioning that the spa would need to be drained to install the parts. When we asked if it did, he said yes, but wasn't going to tell us that beforehand, because they charge by the 1/2 hour and they're on the clock while they drain the spa. I would not recommend this company to ANYONE!! Capital City Spa helped us out after dealing with these jerks. They were very nice and helpful. Go to them instead! more
