Yum 11/28/2011

While this restaurant is not cheap, it's worth the price to have a unique experience once in a while. They have a three course meal option, but personally, I prefer to just do cheese and then skip right to dessert. You will be a little stinky when you leave, as the food smells tend to get into your clothes and hair, but overall, a great option for a nice leisurely meal. more

Pricey! 5/24/2010

I've been to this Melting Pot location three times. We were living in Orlando for a while and had several visits to two different locations (including the flagship location which I believe is now closed). All the visits were based on requests by our kids for some special occasion. All locations were consistent in food quality and service. For the price we paid I would expected the food to taste much better than it did. The salad was good and the cheese fondue appetizer was delicious. The entrees were mediocre at best. This chain is a great place to impress someone on a date or take a young teen for a special occasion like birthday or graduation as it's a unique experience. Service: At first I thought the lack of attention was because the servers wanted the customer to have a leisurely enjoyable dinner without feeling rushed. BUT I would have expected at the least to not have to constantly look for someone to bring us drink refills. I have to rate 3 stars as the restaurant, in my opinion, is only OK. Pros: For special occasions Cons: EXPENSIVE, Mediocre food, slow service more

Great Service 6/18/2008

I went for the first time with a group at work. we had a great time. Our service was wonderful and the food was amazing. Although this restruant for me is for special occassions only due to pricing. I definietly cant wait to go back. i really am surprised ot hear how poorly a family with children was treated there. You should have heard our group have fun. we know we were a bit loud with our laughing and having fun but no one complained. I always recommend to wait a day and put your thoughts in writing to management. maybe they would would have like to have the family back for another chance, Pros: great food, great service, good ambienace Cons: a little expensive for regular dining more

Romantic setting. Good wine list. Inept service 5/10/2008

We have been to MeltingPot restaurants in cities other than Richmond and they have been fine. The one in Richmond suffered from what seemed to be high staff turnover and poor training. The food is good, and the wine list superb, though there is no one there when we visited who seemed to know anything about the wines on the list. Service was slow, and staff only wanted to help ""their tables"". We had to wait a long time between courses which was unusual because the cooking is done at the table. The average age of the staff (""manager"" included) seemed to be about 23. We expected much more given the price point. Pros: wine list Cons: slow, inexperienced service. more

Not a Family Restaurant 11/10/2006

This was not our first visit . Our previous visits were delightful - HOWEVER!!! We took our daughter for her 14th Birthday and thought it would be a great experience for her. The $14.95 balloon and picture frame was to be at our table for her - per our reservation. However - nothing was there. We have four girls between the ages of 9 and 14. They are all very well behaved. In fact, we frequent Copper Grill and Morton's with them in tow - and have never had anything but compliments on their behavior. We were seated in a small room with another family (their children were younger than ours) - at first we thought this was great. We could barely hear our conversation above theirs. However, the manager informed my husband we were being disruptive to their table. We finished the rest of our meal in silence. My husband spoke to the manager (after I took the girls to the car) and he replied this was not a family environment restaurant, it was for romance! However - I will say our server was very good and she treated us well. Pros: Menu and Waitstaff Cons: The Management more

Truely unique dining experience 8/11/2006

I took my wife there for her B'day and it was a night to rememmber. I had requested a table off the main traffic aisle and we were delighted with the last boothe in a quite corner. The four course dinner was the best. Plenty of food, fine flavors and very attentive service combined for a memorable experience. Be prepared to drop some bucks but it is well worth it. Pros: Unique and pleasant experience Cons: Takes time to enjoy more

Perfect First Date or Wine Lover 7/27/2005

Try this uniquely themed restaurant. See what your first date is made of! Classy, romantic, good place to cozy up for intimate conversation. We had the swiss cheese fondue, followed by the Land and Sea cooked in the Mojo broth. All was very tasty. I'd offer a better selection of veggies to dip in the cheese, though. Dessert was over the top. We had the Flaming Turtles (caramel and chocolate with pecan) Fondue. Comes with a yummy selection of prime fruit and cake. Our waitress wasn't the most attentive, in comparison with other waitstaff we witnessed. Pros: Ambiance, Unique night out, Not rushed Cons: A little pricey more

Friendly Service 4/6/2003

Great Staff, friendly service, romantic setting. The Food is excellent and great value for your money. Overall an A+ experience. Highly recommend dessert and appetizer. Pros: Friendly service, Intimate setting, Good food more

MELTING POT = SUPERIOR! 2/17/2003

Whoever dislikes this place will not like any restaurant. Someone complained ""cheeze cheeze cheeze"" and ""too much fat."" Let me set the facts straight. The first course is one including cheese and breads. The next course you have a variety of items, including all types of meats and vegetables. If you think they have nothing but fatty foods, than you obviously don't eat chicken, beef, seafood, or vegetables. Lastly, you can order an incredible dessert fondue! It's 100% worth every penny! Pros: service, food, quality Cons: make a reservation more

great fondue 1/7/2003

This is one of my favorite places to have a quiet dinner. The cheese fondue was fabulous as well as the seafood fondue! They also have a great wine list. Desert.....absolutely divine! Pros: friendly staff, good atmosphere Cons: not inexpensive more

Incredible Experience! 10/2/2002

What better way to spend a romantic evening with your significant other than to look longingly into one another's eyes as you play with your food?!? more

Great Romantic Rest..... 8/30/2002

Wonderfully romantic place with great service and food. Not someplace you'd go every night but excellent for special occasions. more

Fondue FUN! 8/28/2002

The service could be much better, the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired, but once seated with a special someone or a group of friends, IT'S A BLAST!!! They get you what you need, the rest you can do at the table! Pros: Fondue is fun, Pricing reasonable, Parking more

The Melting Pot gets my vote! 8/12/2002

The Melting Pot is a wonderful restaurant! I have been there several times and every time it has been a great experience. The servers are very knowledgable and helpful with the courses. The atmosphere is incrediblely intimate and personal. I can't wait to go back! more

Extraordinary! 8/9/2002

I've eaten at the Melting for about two years now and love it every time. It's unfortunate to read that someone had an unjoyable time. Who ever wrote that I hope you know that the Melting Pot is on a reservation basis so if you had to wait forty minutes for a table you must not of had a reservation and if your wife's B-day was so important you should've made one. The servers do a lot more work than an average restaurant and take pride in giving customers an enjoyable evening, and that's why we keep going back. You should give it another chance, but this time make a reservation. more
