I love this place!\r \r Good food, good friends, great environment, in the heart of the city. What's not to love??\r \r Highly recommend! more

Didn't mind this place that much, just wasn't quite as good as I would have expected. Service was a bit slow, although it was a busy night since there was a convention in town at the time. The food was pretty decent, the alcohol was a bit stronger than I expected, but that's good if that's what you're looking for. Other than that it was an ok place, I'd go there in the middle of the night again if I was in Seattle at that time. more

The Hurricane is. It's a dark and cool respite from the mean streets of the city. Here is a dark, safe place for you to hide in a big cushy black booth and recover. They will feed you a perfectly good breakfast at 5 PM or 6AM - OR!! 3:47AM and bring you alcohol in any form you request. All without being judgemental or disdainful. This place is the mother everyone wishes they had. The bathrooms could be more appealing- Mom's a little off her game on that front. Whether I wake up in a bit of a fog or I never passed out at all, the Hurricane is the place I head to recover. A solid eggs benedict and stout Cape Cod can cover a lot of sins and this is one-stop shopping among like-minded peers. I love it deeply. more

This cafe was right next to our hotel in Seattle so we thought we'd give it a try since it was late in the night and they were 24 hours. We got seated within 5 minutes of arriving and served water untill a waitress came to take our order. \r \r We ordered our food and it took just over an hour to recieve it, while waiting for our food we were able to watch many people from different walks of life come in and out it was very interesting but anyway we ordered a 12 egg omelette (lol), a fiesta burger meal and nachos, the burger was very good along with the fries, the nachos were just horrible I swear the just got a bunch of tortilla chip threw them on a plate and sprinkled some shredded chese over it and thre it in the microwave...when I picked one chip up I swear the entire plate lifted along with it because the cheese was so rubbery everything was stuck together, the omelette tasted a bit funny too, there was some sort of yellowish powder on the side of the plate and thats how we found out if you order the 12 egg omelette half of it is POWDERED EGGS!!!!! we didn't even eat the omelette and there wasno way in hell we were gonna eat the nachos so between the four of us we split the fiesta burger and fries. It sad that you have to wait for over an hour for the food and leave within 10 minutes after recieving it because the food was terrible. Other than that the staff was okay, bathrooms were nasty!!!! My hubby and I went there, while staying a week in Seattle,Wash.I would recommend this ""local dive""! Their wait staff was attentive..and asked if you needed anything..and checked on you as well. They have good foods there...I loved their sandwich melts,and their crunchy fish and chips as well as their yummy breaded onion rings..My hubby enjoyed their pancakes alot.\r They have a good list of pale ales..and more. They are close to the downtown hotels,as well as the Space Needle,among other Seattle attractions. They are also open 24 hours ,prices range from $4.75 on up.\r \r They have a juke box full of many oldies but goodies...and some fairly recent as well.They also have several pinball machines, and a bar on the side.\r \r This is a good ""local hang out"", recommended more for visitors and locals...it isn't really a good place for children..but, you can take them, if there isn't any other place to go, or that is open..the food is good.\r \r My hubby and I ,really liked this cafe, and would recommend it to anybody!!\r \r I'd rate this four stars at the most!!\r \r (The only thing I think might help would be that they fix their ""booth"" seats...as they were falling apart,and some ""rock""! As far as all-night diner's go, you can't beat the Hurricane. It has all the usual - skillet plates, huge omelets, bottomless hashbrowns, shakes, lots of fried appetizers and nachos...\r and for the times when you need pancakes at three am AND a beer they serve some pretty mean drinks, too. Yeah, it's a dive, but it's a great one. It has a jukebox that plays all of your favorite alternative and rock hits, an arcade with pinball machines and old-school videogames but for all that it's actually pretty quiet. A nice plays to hang out with friends after a concert or an extra-long shift at work. The waitstaff are usual tatooed and pierced, they'll joke around with you if you're game and be snarky if your not but if you don't need a server to fake smile and call you sir or ma'am constantly you'll realize the service is actually great most of the time. They also cook up a mean bowl of vegetarian chili. \r It's not fine dining, but it is a great place to hang out for a couple hours with your friends and get a solid, old fashioned stick-to-your-ribs breakfast or dinner. Pros: 24 hours!, good parking, fun place to hang out, entertaining servers Cons: slow service, no diet options more

There are only a handful of places to get something to eat after the bars have closed, such as Honeycourt, the 5-Point, Denny's, and also this place, the Hurricane, to name a few. This is your standard greasy-spoon fare. You'll find comfort foods such as heaping mounds of mashed potatoes and gravy, bottomless hash browns that are greasy yet delicious, and omelettes that come from small to a dozen eggs in size. I've always enjoyed omelettes here. I'll typically eat at the 5-Point when I'm looking for the greasy-spoon meal, but if I want an omelette, I'll come to the Hurricane. They used to be a smoker's paradise back in the day and there was a non-smoking room in the back, forcing non-smokers to walk through the smoky haze to get to their tables. Now with the smoking ban in effect, there's no worries about all of the second-hand smoke and leaving smelling like an ashtray. This place is gritty and a real dive-diner. Tattoos and piercings are welcome and often prolific among the crowds and employees. Overall, it's a decent place to grab a bite, sit and nurse a cup of coffee over long conversations, and grease up your insides. Pros: Open all hours, parking is plentiful, Cons: Waitstaff is a bit gruff, you have to get used to it. more

for the person writing as mellymelly - the hurricane is not that old (what, like 10 years or something?) you call it ""old Seattle"", well youngling, it was once called the Dog House, and this was old Seattle. Both qualify as dives and serve/served roughly the same quality of food, but let's please not forget were once we came so soon...to the Dog House! more

Born and raised in Seattle, all late night sevants as well as just plain hungry people know of the wonderfully fabulous Hurricane Cafe! Why do us locals love it so much? The food is fantastic - gigantic omelettes, hash browns, etc... but the real fun is the atmosphere. The Hurricane Cafe staff are know for their rude, brewdish behavior; tatooed, pierced, punked out persona; and the place itself is of course, a total dive. But if you like to experience something other than the upscale dining experiences Seattle has now succomed to, I highly recommend seeing some local sites at the good old Hurrican Cafe! A friend and I vistited this restaurant based on excellent recommendations, and we were sorely disappointed. We waited nearly an hour for our food, with no explanation from the staff. The staff was inattentive, and our waitress forgot that she hadn't given us our food and asked us to hurry up to make the table available to other guests. The country benedict was quite good, but the omelet tasted like it was made with velveeta cheese. A restaurant with a lot of potential, but the service was so rude, I'll never go back. For people who have not lived in Seattle for the past 10-15 years, which seems like most 20-somethings in this town, the Hurricane Cafe is a remodel of an old Seattle institution, The Dog House. As their sign used to say, ""All Roads Lead to the Dog House""! Even though it is a shame that the original is gone, the Hurricane is a good alternative. more

Was at Bumbershoot 2004 from San Diego, came across this 24 hour diner and bar. Must say it was a memorable experience! Service was great! Food was a little high, but with bottomless hash browns that were cooked to perfection it made up the price! Wish we had somewhere like this in San Diego! Pros: friendly, 24 hour , layed back more

While the Hurricane is a little dingy, the service varies depending on how close to the counter you sit, and theres no way to escape the cigarettes, their breakfast thingies are to die for. I came at about 4pm before a show at the Key. There were no people there. Hence, service was great. Even though the girl wasnt too knowledgable about the bar, she was very friendly, and made sure we got all that we wanted.
