Best

I love it here. This is definitely one of my favorite Hollywood spots and I try to frequent the club with friends as much as possible! This is really a great spot...you just need ...

Worst

If you are going for dinner than this place is great, but I would not recommend staying for the club. This place has gone down hill.

VERY average and cheesy 2/14/2005

If you're looking for a commercial and cheesy hollywood club, then this is the place to be. I must admit - sometimes, that's what i'm looking for - but at most one or twice a year. Beyond that, and this place gets tired. The go-go dancers are hot - but the DJ on saturday nights - one of the worst i've heard. Pros: go-go dancers Cons: DJ, cheesiness more

overRated!! 1/27/2005

oooooo HIGHLANDS!!...i finally went to see what all the fuss is about....so what is the fuss about?...the actual club setting was really nice but i would like to remodel the crowd PLEASE!...the only thing i was happy about was going in through the VIP entrance...other than that...there are better places to get chill at.... more

Disgusting, pretentious place. 11/19/2004

The staff is arrogant, rude, and pretentious. The DJ was decent but the crowd consisted of tourists and out of towners who had no idea how much this clubs sucks. They're just happy to be outside of the house after curfew. Don't go here. more

Come Early! 7/13/2004

Reading through the other reviews, I learned to arrive early! Not ""around 10"" or ""sometime at 10"" but at 9:30! Waited for a bit while they set up, but really no problem getting in. Make sure to have some girls in your party however, as the bouncer did ask for the girl-guy ratio in my group. When my gf was hungry and we had no reservations, they were very accomodating in the restaurant upstairs. Not as pricey as other places I have seen. The upstairs bar staff was really nice! I have been to quite a few snobby Hollywood places, and have left feeling snubbed at all of them. Not so at the Highlands, of which I was pleasantly surprised. more

PRETENTIOUS!!! 3/21/2004

I have been to many clubs and none are as PRETENTIOUS as this one. The staff makes you wait for more than an hour and pay $20 dollars even though there is really no one inside. Being on the GUEST LIST DOES NOT GUARANTEE ENTRANCE, while others are able to gain entrance even without being on the guest list. Unless you want to wait needlessly at the club that neither want your business nor deserve it, and then deal with staff who are condescending, I suggest you take your money elsewhere b/c this place is SO NOT WORTH IT!!!! Pros: NOT WORTH TALKIN ABOU Cons: , Pretentious, guest list irrelevant more

I love The Highlands! 1/25/2004

Don't like the song that's playing? Don't waste precious dancing time...just go to another dance floor. This place is enormous! It has multiple dance floors, lots of places to sit, and cool views of Hollywood. I had a great time there! It's a little expensive to get in, but I've read that if you have dinner at their restaurant, admittance to the club is free. Parking is convenient in the garage below, and although you do have to pay to park, I don't remember it being too overpriced. The music is fun and upbeat - mostly hip-hop, rap, and some pop. My only warning...don't go NEAR the dance floor with a drink in your hand! Bouncers will come out of the woodwork to scold you!! Overall, it's a great place though. I highly recommend it. Pros: Fun atmosphere Cons: Expensive more

A Throw Back to the 80's 9/26/2003

We went on Saturday, Feb 22. Ten of us went..8 girls and 2 guys. 4 girls got in because they arrived early at 930. The rest of us arrived at 1000 and had to wait almost an hour. We had called ahead twice to make sure we were on the guest list, but when we arrived...we werent on the list!! We finally had to grease the door person to get in. Once we got in though, the place was extremely impressive. Good music, lots of women, and expensive drinks!! more

Total Blast! 8/31/2003

OMG, what a good time I had! I went on a Sat around 10 pm, so it didn't take long to get in. The bouncer was probably the nicest I've met in LA so far. (If you are lucky, they waive your $20 cover charge.) The DJ played all a wide variety of music for everyone (that sometimes you might not like all of it). Talking of the drinks... the bartender was extremely friendly. The drinks taste really good (not too strong though), but can be expensive (he gave us a couple free rounds). Never worry about taking too long to get a drink, because there are many bars inside this huge club. And if it gets too hot, you can take a walk on the patio and enjoy a little view of Hollywood. I had to say it was really fun. I will come back for more! Pros: Good drinks, Freindly people, Huge dance floor Cons: $20 cover charge, $$ drinks more

Good celeb sightings. 8/13/2003

I went to this club last friday night to see The Dan Band. I read about it in US magazine & checked it out a month ago & now I am addicted. Their show rocks! I love the Dan Band. Plus everytime I go see them, I always see celebs. Last week I saw Jenny McCarthey, Charlie Sheen, and David Spade....after the show - the nightclub starts & we had a great time. I like to go here because of the killer balcony - you can sit outside, order a drink, and have a cigarette. It's a great place for smokers too. They have new dj's I think because the music was better last friday night than it's ever been. check it on a dan band night for sure fire celeb sightings. Pros: celeb sightings, live show, good drinks Cons: in a mall, some bridge & tunnel more

The Place to Be in Hollywood 8/13/2003

Some girlfriends of mine came down to visit from San Francisco and I thought I would take them to The Highlands. From the minute we walked in we had a good time. The bartenders are hot, the music was great and the atmosphere was rad! I have come here quite a few times with newcomers as well as Hollywood natives and both have had only great things to say. What a refreshing new addition to Hollywood- glamorous decor and a good music!!! Pros: great decor, good drinks, fun people more

thursday night NOT spot 7/26/2003

stay away from thursday night at highlands or you will encounter bad music (pop-garbage psuedo-hip-hop) spun by some neophyte DJ, ill-mannered doormen, a typical bourgeois hollywood ""bling bling"" crowd, and over priced piss water in a plastic cup. An average rating of 1 for this place, but if i had a choice it would have been goose eggs all the way down. Pros: none, at, all Cons: soul-less hollywood, obnxoxious crowd, pretentious more

ilyria 5/30/2003

This is one of the worst clubs I've ever been to- this is what people are talking about when they trash LA. Pretentious, and rude the staff tries unsuccesfully to make the club seem popular by forcing people to wait needlessly. In reality there is no one inside and being on the ""list"" still means you have to wait for an hour and pay $20. Go to Hollywood Cantina instead. The drinks are a huge rip-off too. Pros: nothing Cons: Wannabe trendy, Waste of time more

Pretty Standard 5/17/2003

Not bad or great. Young sort of meat market crowd the night I was there (yawn!) Pros: parking lot nearby, outside deck Cons: typical more

High Rent, Low Grade 5/6/2003

As a native Angeleno & Hollywood resident, I usually laugh off pretense & bad manners in clubs. But the Highlands is nothing to laugh off: it's something to scoff at & shun heartily. (Unless, of course, you ENJOY pandering to an out-of-state staff whose I.Q. is in the low double digits.) On a list? Never mind. Come here often? They don't care. Judging from the experiences of a half-dozen of us, this club neither wants your business nor deserves it. Skip this overrated tourist trap & head for Hollywood Cantina, Vinyl, Boardners, Gabba. At these places, you'll experience the soul & spirit of this city minus the poor taste in architecture & hired help. Pros: uh, it's in Hollywood, escalators Cons: acne scars & attitude, chips on shoulders, bitter bouncers more

LOWlands 3/7/2003

This place is such a waste of space in hollywood! The crowd was lame, the bartenders were the worst: rude and arrogant. even though I got right in cause I was with 5 girls and we were on the list, I saw people waiting out there for hours even though they were on the list as well! I will never go back, I don't reccomend it at. Pros: locality Cons: bad crowd, everything, everything more

Saturday Night 3/7/2003

The best times are Saturday Nights. Large everything....dancefloor, music, crowd. Get there early to avoid the LARGE Line. There is something for everyone, singles, couples, older, younger, drunk, non drinkers, it's good for all. more

Music sucks 2/9/2003

Went back in June and they really need to get better djs cuz the music SUCKS. I had more fun taking pictures from the balcony. (Okay they have a nice view) The most amusing thing I saw was this elderly couple getting their groove on. And you would expect from bouncers that power trip, (not bad if youre a female) theyre would be more a filter for sleaze. Hahayou would think. more

Hot spot! 1/13/2003

Great restaurant and nightclub. Good place to meet all type of people. more

Getting lousy... 1/12/2003

It's not hard to get in for free for girls since there're always some guys on the VIP list but need more girls to go in with. However the last time I went the music sucked so desperately and the people weren't fun anymore so I won't be returning for sure.....plus they make everyone wait outside longer on purpose because the place was always empty while there's a freaking long line outside of the door, and it's very irritating to see the doormen walking around, doing nothing and not leting people in..... Pros: Open till 3 Cons: Unnecessary long line more

Weak.... 1/4/2003

Guest list does not guarantee entrance. They make everybody wait and leave the club empty. Typical hollywood club. Don't waste your time here and save your money. I've talked my way in once and it wasnt all that. Cons: expensive, rude doormen more
