Best

I love it here. This is definitely one of my favorite Hollywood spots and I try to frequent the club with friends as much as possible! This is really a great spot...you just need ...

Worst

If you are going for dinner than this place is great, but I would not recommend staying for the club. This place has gone down hill.

Great place to dance 1/22/2007

This club boast a very large dance floor that spins mostly hip-hop. The venue is pretty sweet looking and the crowd is diverse, with Asians leading the race (no pun intended). $20 cover unless you guestlist in advance. LA wouldn't be LA without lines. So be forwarned. This is the place to go if you just want to go out and dance because you don't have to worry about rubbing elbows with other people. The dance floor is that big. The girl-to-guy ratio is pretty evenly matched. I wouldn't necessary call the crowd attractive. I've seen better. It's a mediocre club at best. No complaints here. But then again, no compliments either. Pros: The dance floor Cons: Line more

One dance floor.. 1/16/2007

We got there pretty early and so had to wait some for the club to open...it looked pretty cool inside but we went straight to the dance floor which was pretty big...but as soon as it started getting packed, people were just rude as they pushed or shoved you to get through....the music was okay but not really mixed...they started with like, gangsta hip hop and then moved to techno and then to like reggeaton...but it wouldv'e been cool to check out other rooms with different music, if they had any...the security was good about keeping drunkies off the dance floor, preventing any drink spills or mishaps...the guys are cute...the drinks are semi expensive and not too strong...bottled water is $4!!! they didn't even offer tap water!!! overall the club is great but i have been to others, much smaller that do offer great music and better drinks... Pros: big dance floor Cons: no free water! rude people more

Good place 11/17/2006

This place was ok, this is not my favorite place but it isn't the worst place to come to. The line gets long, the drinks are good. The atmosphere is nice there is a good mix of people. If you want to come and just hang out and have a good time than this is definately the place. more

Fun Crowd 11/17/2006

I've been here on several diffrent occasions, ranging from Friday to Saturday night, from a ""commoner"" to VIP. The atomosphere here is always fun, even ran into the Taboo and Apl from the Black Eyed Peas, they hang there alot. Everyones there to have a good time and it shows. Line is long so get there early. Guest list is highly recommended! If your a guy arrive with lots of girls! And if your a girl arrive with more girls! The more girls the better the chances of having to skip the long line. Cover ranges from 10-20 bucks depending on the night. Drinks are not the greatest, they gotta get some new bartenders up in there! The average drink costs about $10 bucks but what night club drink doesn't?! Lots a room to dance and the people there are generally a good mix and fun crowd. Good place to hook up and meet new people. The ladies look good and the fellas look fine. more

Be on a list and get there early 11/16/2006

lines can be long but if you are nice to the bouncers tehy are nice to you, expect a cover charge, but a huge club and always fun and they always have the women to men ratio in a mans favor great place to dance and meet beautiful women more

Could be better 11/12/2006

The wait to get in was a bit ridiculous, but over all the club was pretty fun. The music was very mixed. Getting a drink did take quite a while. Their vodka redbulls kinds weren't the best I've ever tasted. Either were their rum and cokes. They tasted....it's hard to explain, but they lacked something for sure. Pros: Mixed music, bathrooms were clean, parking Cons: Long wait in line, drinks weren't the best more

Spacious, good crowd, good music 10/30/2006

There is usually a line to get in, but it goes pretty fast. There are a few bars, so getting drinks doesn't take forever. The place is massive and there are different rooms that play different music. A great place to hangout with a large group to chill or dance. Pros: Spacious, trendy, variety of music Cons: Lines more

Fantabulous! 10/17/2006

Went there with three friends a couple weeks ago. We get there and saw about 20-30 people in line. I walk up to the bouncer and said I have three friends with me and if there was a way that we can go ahead of the people. He let me and two of my friends in right away but as soon as my other friend ( a guy ) followed behind he wouldn't let him in. So this place ladies have the advantage because the only women standing in line were the ones that had a dude on their arm. We finally get inside and the music was awesome. It was a pretty decent size dance floor with beautiful dancers on platforms looking like rainbow brites. Large patio that overlooked the shops and Hollywood Blvd. Drinks were average about 10.00 dollars but worth it. The night we went we noticed A LOT of couples that were together. Not much of a singles scene compared to a lot of other spots I been too. more

Not what it used to be 6 months ago 10/6/2006

First time I went to Highlands, I had the time of my life. I went back in September and oh boy!!! Like most clubs, being on the guest list doesn't mean a thing. About 20 peopel stand in line for a good 30 minutes and when the line's grown to 40 people, they let the first 20 people in while the next 20 people serve their 30 minutes of agony. The security check: this is thorough to a fault, I've never been rubbed so vigourously! The painful thing is I ended up paying $20, even though I was on the guest list and had been standing outside for half an hour. So not worth it. The music was good (and most clubs in Hollywood play good music). Pros: Good Music, Lots of Parking (not entirely free, but it's there!) Cons: Bad Attitude Security Personnel more

Great Dance Club 9/7/2006

Please read below if you plan to spend your evening at The Highlands... a) The Guest List My friends and I signed up to be on the guest list last Saturday night. Below is exactly what is posted on their website in regards to their guest list: Q: How much will I have to pay with this guest list? A: Guest lists are usually free of charge, if the guest list is applicable to any charges those charges will be posted in the event description. Once we received our guest list tickets we went to the cashier and she said $15 CASH ONLY. We told her that we are on the guest list and it did not say anywhere on their website and the front door that people on the guest list would have to pay a fee. She said that general admission is $25 and the guest list ticket we received were $10 off. As for free, she did not have an answer to that. b) Parking Validation None. They do not have parking validation unlike the last time I came here which was about 6 years ago. $10 parking. c) Security They took my friend's key hook because they thought he would use it as 'brass knuckles'. Really? If my friend did get into a fight it would take him at least 15 seconds to take it from his belt. Yeah that's a quick and useful weapon. After the club he went to the front to get his key hook and it was gone. They did not know what happened to it. He noticed a lot of items that were taken from other patrons including lots of gum. Really? You can't bring gum inside? d) Dress Code This is their policy: Dress code of upscale-casual is strictly enforced, though nice jeans are permissible. However, absolutely no athletic attire is allowed. I saw gang bangers wearing t-shirts, jeans and dirty tennis shoes in the club. Does this sound upscale-casual to you? Moving on, my friends and I hung out in the lounge area where the music was pretty good and there were plenty of lounge seats to sit down. Midway through the night around 12:15am the music stops, the lights turn on so they could force everyone to move to the larger dance floor area (since it was pretty empty). Really? That was a major buzz kill. If you don't want anyone to be in the lounge area then don't open it in the first place. So if you want to go to the Highlands and be on the guest list: $15 cover (cash only), $10 parking, $10 patron shot, $13 gin and tonic (glasses are very small) and taken-and-lost items from the security. Gee... what a great night!! Pros: Huge dance floor, nice patio view. Cons: Get there before 10pm or else. more

Great Venue 8/17/2006

I saw a comedy showcase at this venue. It was very cozy with tall tables and barstools. There were oversized couches in what probably doubles as a dance floor. The lighting is cozy and the stage puts just enough distance between you and the performer. Making you feel intimate but not like you could become part of the act. They validate. Pros: They Validate Cons: Traffic in the are more

Very Rude Security Staff 7/30/2006

My girlfriends and I went to The Highlands to watch Hollywood Men. We stood up and danced in our booth as all the girls were doing. A hostile security guard named Jay kicked us out. Then, they made us wait outside for 30 minutes for my credit card, and refused to refund any of our money. However, the guys were really hot... more

Don't Ruin Your Night Out 7/29/2006

The crowd here is always lowbrow and unfriendly, but worse are the people who work the place. The bouncers are raging a-holes and the girl who solicits a kickback to her in order to skip the line will often take your money before having the bouncer deny you entrance or simply not help you pass the line anyway. There are plenty of great clubs in Hollywood, don't ruin your night here. Pros: Not as hard to get into as some others in the area. Cons: Not worth getting into. TERRIBLE service. more

impossible not to have fun 6/26/2006

we've been to this club 3 times in the last year or so...everytime my friends and i take a limo, bring about 10-15 heads and have the time of our lives...ive been to many clubs around southern california and vegas, but i honestly have to say the best times have been at the highlands..its simple...get on the guestlist and you're almost guaranteed to have a good time cuz we all know lines are horrible... the music is great, the djs have actual talent, they actually mix the music and dont just play records...the crowd is excellent, very diverse everytime and have never encountered a stuck up gurl which is very surprising, very nice people, the bouncers for the most part arent that rude as other people have said, if you go to highlands and not have fun..you must be with boring people!! Pros: music, girls, diverse crowd Cons: sometimes long lines more

oozes may goosez 2/16/2006

OoooooooooOOOOOOOOOOooooooooO highlands, i liek it. ya ya. salt salt salt salt salt salt salt love todd more

well what can I say 9/27/2005

Well where do start. I better put few words nasty place. Don't even come close Cons: trash more

drinks are not worth it 7/14/2005

drinks don't cost much since it probably water down. i usually need 2 shots to get buzz, but i drank 4 shots and i was still sober. Pros: upscale place Cons: waterdown alchohol, too much girls more

I don't want to hate but... 7/12/2005

I don't like being a hater, and even more, I don't like contributing to these review things because I rarely use them myself. BUT...I was at Highlands this last weekend and had the worst time ever for a clubbing night out! In fact, we didn't even get in. I've gone clubbing long enough to know that if you get there late, you're gonna wait, but this was ridiculous. Even though we had girls in our party, we ended up standing in line for over two hours without getting in. It wasn't even a line since no one in it was let in unless they tipped the bouncers $20 a head, on top of the cover fee. Worst night ever! more

SUPER Exciting 6/9/2005

This is a place to go if you want to REALLY party and bring your friends. This place gets packed on the first floor so sometimes its hard to get ya dance on. But heck you can always move into another section of the club. IT IS FUN. Its a mixed crowd. And upstairs in the dining area turns into a club later in the night. The dj upstairs is DJ MOTIV8 who spins hip hop, salsa and reggae tone. You will meet many people from all walks of life there. And many celeb appearances. And the go go dancers are HOT!!! i think its worth the pay because you will dance until u cant dance no more. ""its a workout"" I usually go on Sat. I have never went on a Fri but i heard its the same. Have fun! Pros: mingle w/many people, FUN, STRAIGHT DANCING SPOT Cons: PACKED more

Friday nights are the best at Highland! 3/2/2005

you just gotta work around club rules. The best way is to RSVP through DMK Org. I am a member, Friday night , make sure girl-guy ratio in ur group is >= 50%. since girls get in free, so bring more girls for your benefit . Guys only $15. Pricy drink, luckily, i don't drink, but water is $4. Music is good (hip-pop, 80s) most of the time. i agree with people, bouncers are rude and snobbish. But they do keep people with drinks out of dance floor to prevent spill. Large multiple dance floor, nice balcony with great night view, girls of all ethnicity (asian, white, black, spanish etc) good crowd and hot go-go dancers. parking is very cheap, $2 for 4 hours, mall parking. Also, they have restaurant upstairs, free club entry if u eat there. I will surely go kick it again on FRIDAY nights. Pros: good music, nice view/parking, go-godancers Cons: bad attitude bouncers, pricy drinks more
