I like the Edgewater. I've stayed there several times over the years. It has a "Northwest" ambiance, with a lot of exposed wood. But the coolest thing about it is its rather eccentric history. It's famous for the time the Beatles fished for salmon directly from their room window. Now that activity is expressly forbidden (probably because the fish would be dangerous to eat!), but the fact remains that you are resting on a pier, over the water, with spectacular views across the harbor to downtown. Good location. It's a fairly long, but do-able walk uphill to Seattle Center, and the waterfront trolley runs right by, so it's a snap to get to other interesting areas like Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, Safeco and Qwest Fields, and the International District. The restaurant is also quite good. Unfortunately, in recent years, they have gotten quite proud of themselves, and the prices are, to my mind, quite a bit higher than they should be.
