Good french toast and Lox and Bagel 5/13/2011

I can recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the service is friendly. I can recommend their Lox and Bagel. It has a very nice presentation and is the pest I have tasted south of Skokie. You may wish to order an extra toasted bagel because the size is ample. Also, their french toast is wonderful. Thick pieces of challah bread with a touch of Cinnamon. Beautiful to look at and to taste. Parking is also across the street. Very helpful. more

Great breakfast on the near west side. 11/28/2010

This has become a very nice place for us to grab breakfast on our way to the Bears game. Today I had a ham and cheese omelet while my son had a breakfast burrito. It was all very good. No complaints about the service either. We were in and out at a nice pace. Parking was no problem. Pleasant atmosphere. We'll be back. more

Cute and Boring 12/6/2009

They have baked omelets and these aren't what people really want to eat. If we'd known, we wouldn't have ordered them. The waiter recommended them. Why don't restaurants just make an omelet without puffing it up and baking the top to brown. It ruins the taste of the egg. The potatoes are undercooked American fries, the white sliced variety, very pale, no taste or seasoning noted. At least brown them up and put some sliced onions on them and even rosemary would help. Pancakes are fluffy and airy. No taste to speak of other than the butter and syrup. The place is cute and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there, but its a nice neighborhood joint. We traveled 25 miles for it, but won't be back. Try the Sweet Maple Cafe on Taylor street in Chicago if you want a great breakfast dining experience. Pros: Nice cozy atmosphere Cons: The food isn't yummy, just boring and normal more

Just ""OK"" 2/22/2009

This place is just ""OK"". It's nothing special, as we are led to believe by all the other reviewers. The food was certainly edible, and the service was fine, but there is nothing extraordinary about this restaurant at all. more

Breakfast done right 9/2/2008

We live in River West and found this place. A hidden gem. Off the beaten path but well worth seeking out! Ok, the pink is overwhelming and old but the staff is great, pleasant and most important - the food is off the chart for great inexpensive breatkfast food. Large portion, large omelettes and a very extensive menu. Drinks, bloody marys and the finest of Mimosa for breakfast hits the spot! This is a great place to enjoy breakfast with your significant other, friends or just alone with a paper to relax! Love this place. Pros: Everything Cons: Its pink more

best local diner in the West Loop!! Hands down. 5/6/2008

This place has the best breakfast food/lunch menu in the West Loop. It is classic Chicago dining and if the service is a little slow so what. The reviewer(chicago60614)should really get a life leaving bad feedback for such a fine establishment-go to a fine dining restaurant if you're going to nitpick about the service. The homemade chicken noodle soup is awesome and the eggs, burgers, hash, etc. are delicious. Pros: classic Chicago fare done right Cons: none! more

AWESOME FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE!! 1/11/2008

Probably The Worst Service For A Restaurant This Good 12/6/2007

I really like the food at this place. It is by far one of my favorite breakfast places in Chicago. The only problem is I have to convince people to go because the service is so bad. People have to be willing to take forever to eat. Pros: Great breakfast food and proof you are healthy if you live long enough to actually get it Cons: Service. They should just convert to a buffet to eliminate the servers more

'Good morning' food! 2/10/2007

I like the pink walls, don't really go for the diner/waitress appearance, but the omelettes were soo good, and so was the OJ,really kept me full all day long. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the scones. All in all, a little bit more expensive than other places, but the 'pink experience' is surely worth it! more

The worst service I've ever experienced 8/29/2006

I've eaten at the Breakfast Club numerous times in the past because I live very close by. The food is very good and the price is reasonable. The service is horrible. I've ate there probably 10 times. The first incident I shrugged off, the second time I figured they were just too busy, the third time I realized a pattern, and the last time I walked out. The dining area is too small and I think they just don't care about their customers, because they know that their is 10 more waiting outside. I will never go back, and I'm sure others feel the same way. I give it a 3 because the food is good. Pros: the food Cons: the service and the wait more

Amazing secret breakfast nook! 2/24/2006

I cant believe i've lived in this neighborhood for 3 years and only just recently found the Breakfast Club! It's hidden on low traffic hubbard street amongst residential homes and warehouses, but when you turn the corner the lady pink awning will wave you down. The entire place is pink and makes for a cute New York-ish Bed and Breakfasty diner that is a rare find in Chicago. The food is excellent and fresh! They make their own amaaaaazing scones! They serve Bellini's and Bloody Mary's, their hashbrowns are thick potato slices, excellent service, healthy options, great place to meet with friends and share your bar stories from the night before. more

Pancakes that rock 5/28/2002

My boyfriend and I just ate here on Saturday, and I'm as pleased as ever. It was crowded, but we got a table immediately. Order the pancakes; I got the regular ones, and they were rich and delicious -- maybe they are made with vanilla -- with just a bit of butter. The Breakfast Club is a bit pricier than a diner or chain pancake place, but it is also a homier restaurant. But be sure to bring cash; checks and credit cards are not accepted. more
