Five Point Cafe is a standard comfort food choice. 3/13/2006

Here ye, here ye: Five Point Cafe is a sister restaurant to Mecca Cafe and an equally delicious choice for diner food. Doubling as a bar and attached to a laundromat, this restaurant has all of the necessities to constitute a good dive establishment: eccentric and cheesy decorations, personable staff, unrefined regulars, and most importantly good and greasy food. They offer plenty of home-style dishes and their fries are delicious. There are whispers of some sort of 'periscope' in the men's bathroom, but alas I cannot adequately report on that as I generally follow restroom gender etiquette. more

Diner-esque, good music 12/4/2005

This place is open late if not 24 hrs, and can be a good place to get after hours food. I haven't actually eaten here, and, while the food looked kind of nasty, when it's that late at night you typically don't care. The right side of the place is more diner focused and the left side is more bar-ish, but there isn't really a difference so it doesn't matter where you sit. There are always people here and it's very down to earth. No PBR on tap though, which was disappointing. The juke box played some good music (pixies). Overall we've had fun here and I would recommend it. more

Booze, Food, and Laughs 8/16/2005

The 5 Point is like a breath of fresh air in Seattle. If by fresh air, you mean air laden with the scent of liquor, cigarettes, and Seattle's best freaks. The food is hearty and huge, my favorite wavers between their Meatloaf and the Chicken Fried Steak (something as a misplaced mid-westerner, I'm especially picky about). With a full service bar, you can get plenty buzzed by the time your food arrives, and afterwords too. Of course, this is Seattle, so the wait-staff is surly, but in a good way. So long as you don't give them the wrong kind of grief. Hang out there long enough, and someone will...that's when the show starts, and it always entertains. more
