The Food and selection is excellent. The waitstaff and management are very friendly, professional and attentive. This is a good place for 2 to 30 people. Some of the best tasting steaks anywhere. Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Nice People more

Not my taste 2/4/2003

Taste of Texas is good food but for a steak I would recommend Lynns STeakhouse off of Dairy Ashford. It is excellent service, food, and the setting is quiet. Alot of companies around that area take large parties there for dinner and lunch. more

Overrated 2/4/2003

When I go out for a nice Steak I want to show up at the restaurant and be waited on, especially considering the cost of a fine Steak dinner. Overrated since the average wait for me has been 1 hr., 45 minutes, no reservations, loud in the dining areas, salad bar instead of a waiter bringing your meal. The food is good but would choose 5 other Steak Houses in Houston before this one! Pros: Food Cons: No Reservations, Wait, Noise more

My Favorite Steak House 1/17/2003

I have been to this restaurant many times and will continue to go on a regular basis. The service is excellent and the staff is attentive. The salad bar and homemade bread are incredible and this all is before the steak is brought to your table. The meat is excellent and cooked exactly to my taste. However, I do recomment getting there early, 5:30 p.m., if you want to be seated promptly. They will give you a beeper and you can go to Town & Country to shop while waiting. more

No way Taste of Texas comes in first. It not close to being as good as Pappas Steak House which is number 1 followed closely by Mortons and then Capitol Grill. In addition to lagging these in food quality the decor isn't even close. The inside of Taste of Texas is not muh different than a big Bonanza! Completely Over-rated! 1/13/2003

Taste of Texas is completely over-rated in my opinion on steaks. The ""sizzling hot"" plate continues cooking the meat and typically I have ended up with an over-done steak. Very minimal seasoning of the meat makes this over-done meant even less appealing. more

A lot of fuss for a mediocre steak house in Texas. Overpriced steaks and not so friendly environment. Just about the only thing that is original is the bandana and Hee Haw for the out of state visitors. Otherwise, everything else is pretty much the same. more

A native Houstonian, I have eaten at countless different restaraunts in the area. Taste of Texas is by far the best! From the delictable salad bar, complete with huge blocks of cheese and rasberry vinagarette, to the fresh warm bread and cinnamon butter, Taste has got it all. The steaks are to die for, but even if you arent a fan of red meat, there is something for you on the menu. A visit to Taste of Texas is a must for any occasion, from casual to elegant. Our friends and family love Taste of TX. Everything there is Grade A. From the moment you walk in the door. You are greeted by smiling friendly hostesses. The steaks are the best I have ever had. The salad bar is always fresh and their breads are unbelievable. Be sure to leave room, if you can, for desert. They are AMAZING!
