Best Chinese anywhere and I've looked everywhere. The Tao Tao beef and Chinese chicken salad are the ultimate! You gotta try it. I would love the recipes and make it everyday!

I ordered food to go from Tao Tao on 10/26 and was very disappointed. I had shredded chicken salad and pork fried rice. The salad was not at all crunchy as if it had too much dressing. In addition, there was way too much horseradish which overpowered the other flavors. The fried rice wasn't even fried...it was clumpy and soft. Also not very much flavor. Too bad...this used to be the best Chinese food around but, now, i wouldn't even return. more

It's a very dirty Restaurant!! The bathrooms are disgusting and haven't been cleaned for decades! The white table clothes are a cover up!! The manager Kevin is very Rude and Aggressive. We asked for no hot mustard on our chicken salad...when it arrived they washed it so they didn't have to make a fresh one. The chicken was so hard and fatty. Kevin the manager freaked out when we pointed this out to him. No water on the table, the service was so shitty! The back outside exit was so filthy. It hadn't been washed down or powerwashed ever! They have been cited in the past for having a dirty kitchen. Looks like the a Health Department needs to pay a visit!!! more

Tao Tao 12/5/2010

I have been coming here since I was 15 and the food was fantastic but when the original family sold, the food has been going down hill. I should have stayed away when the health department gave them a citation for a dirty kitchen but I didn't.Tonight's food tasted really bad and the only good item was the rice and all they had to do was steam it. more

Not good! 1/4/2010

I will never eat here again. The kung pao chicken was disgusting! It tasted like pure corn syrup and the smell was unpleasant. In addition, the chicken tasted old. Also, the chow mein was not good. I did not have a good experience! more

Tao Tao beef has got to be one of my most favorite foods on the planet! If you've never tried it before, you're missing out. I can't get enough of the chicken salad here, and the sweet and sour pork, and although I don't personally like prawns that much, my friends have gotten into fights over the honey walnut prawns, so I guess they're good =) They have a nice bar at Tao Tao's too. The Mai Tais are a favorite. more

Gross 8/9/2008

We got take-out from Tao Tao and it was gross. Very greasy and the meat (pork ribs, BBQ pork) was fatty and dry - tasted several weeks old. Not sure if the food is better in the restaurant, but won't be finding out. more

Tao Tao 4/1/2007

This Chinese restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. They have a chicken salad with nuts which is really tasty. Almost all the dishes we ordered were very good, especially the kung pao chicken, beef with broccoli and chow mein. The service could have been a little bit better, considering I had to keep calling over different waiters in order to get things. The price was competitive. more

Great food, decent service and the best house drink around! 12/8/2006

The decor has changed, but the food is still great. Tao Tao beef, chicken salad, hot and sour soup and the prawns in lobster sauce are incredible. Service can be spotty, on a Friday or Saturday (as most resturaunts are) but the food is worth the wait. I have eaten here dozens of times and have friends that have as well and I have never heard of the food coming out cold as others have stated. Pros: The food and Mai Tai's Cons: VERY busy on Friday and Saturday nights. more

Why do people love this place??? 12/6/2006

I just don't get why people love this place- I've eaten there 4 times and was repeatedly less than impressed. After ordering take out and getting a cold and inedible lychee pork that was hard as a rock and dried out (as if it had been fried way too many times and then sat for days), I vowed I was never going back to Tao Tao. But then when a friend's b-day was held there I went back, which turned out to be a big mistake since I became terribly ill that night. Bottom line: there are tons of authentic and delicious Chinese restaurants in the area- this just isn't one of them. Pros: location, atomosphere, service Cons: food! more

The best chicken salad 9/11/2006

I've been going to Tao Tao since 1984. My grandmother recently passed away and this was the place we had our holiday parties. Their Chicken Salad, and Tao Tao Beef, are to die for. I now live in Texas and crave this food. Unfortunately I only get it once a year. Fortunately, I have the recipe since Grandma was a friend of Franks. This has excellent chicken salad and a decent bar. It is great for large groups and convenient to other locations on Murphy Avenue. I don't like a lot of spice, so just be sure you don't order something too spicey . PROS: Quick service CONS: Sometimes they are really busy more

I have been going to Tao Tao for almost 30 years. I now live 100 miles north of Tao Tao but still try to come down south just for the best Chinese Chicken Salad in the world (the cilantro, crushed peanuts and crispy noodles are the main secrets!) So the bathrooms are nice, but this place sucked. The service was horrible and they forgot part of our order and then the food came out cold. Why is it so hard to provide good service. Most bland chinese food I have had in a long time. more
