Best

I got my house painted by Student Painters last summer and I absolutely love it. They provide very quality work at a very affordable price. It really feels good to work with stude...

Worst

Their guarantee is for two years for a reason. Two years after they painted for me I now have to have the work done again! They said the paint job would last 10-15 years and it ...

Very poor experience 8/26/2012

While our crew leader was a very nice young man these are FAR from professional painters. When we questioned their experience level they told us "this isn't rocket science you know". Well, it may not be rocket science but they weren't up to the job. First, we were told there would be a crew of 4. Only 2 came to our job, a 4,000 sq. ft. house. And one wa the crew leader who left the actual work up to the other guy who was very inexperienced. The first clue was not being able to figure out the pressure washer and leaving water and mud all over my entryways and deck and not picking up. They don't know how to properly cover things to protect them from overspray. I question how well they are taught how to actually paint! They tried to use a roll of paper only 11 inches wide at the base of each wall they were going to paint. How does that protect anything??? We told them professionals use entire drop cloths yet they protested that! Then , after 4 days of screwing around and not getting much done they began to paint areas that are above the roof (dormers, etc.). They didn't have the tip to the sprayer on tight enough and they sprayed a ton of paint on my new roof. It is still a filmy white color. My rule to them was NO paint on the roof. That verys ame day I noticed they were both gone for about 2 hours. Turns out the crew leader was out "on bids" and who knows where the other one was. That was the last straw. If you're having a tough time taking care of your current customer don't take off to give bids to new people. Or do it in the evening. My wife and I decided this was it and we cut the cord. Paid them for the percentage of the job they had done thus far which wasn't much. That is the first time we've had to part ways with a contractor mid-stream. I fault management. They focus on the sales aspect but on teaching them how to paint like professionals more

what a joke 6/6/2012

I wanted my house painted, not my landscape rocks, cedar, salal, and rhodies. And not my windows either! They left painted footprints on my deck, splats of paint on the front porch and my driveway pad and their "pressure washing" was using our hose nozzle we had bought at a dime store. That is painted too. Two of our neighbors complained about the loud music and their vulgar language that they had to listen to all day. The job was never completed, they just ignored us and went back to school I guess. The biggest problem I had though, was finding paint on our native plants on the other side of our driveway. I asked if there had been an accidental spill and the project manager said "I don't think so". They walked across my driveway and dumped paint in the ground! We live in a wetlands area and can see the straight from our house. You don't dump paint in the ground! If I hope I never see their fliers in my neighborhood again for the sake of my community. more

Cheap paint 5/26/2011

Their guarantee is for two years for a reason. Two years after they painted for me I now have to have the work done again! They said the paint job would last 10-15 years and it lasted barely two. I do not recommend them. more

Awful company 4/26/2011

Do NOT hire anyone from Student Painters. The painters are treated like crap and forced to work without pay. Do yourself a favor and hire a real painter, do not let this company continue more

WHAT A NIGHTMARE 8/14/2010

Student Painters just left after saying job was finished. They did not finish all the painting that was part of the house and was told to do it ourselves (we are in our 80"s). The person that we had originally dealt with was very courteous and listed some of our concerns and what was to painted. Replacement supervisor ignored some stipulations and also said we did not pay for areas that were listed on contract. Also took it upon themselves to change color on deck and then argued that it was going to cost an additional $100 to paint it as shown. Out deck railing is the same color as our siding and they tried to tell me that it was wrong and was always the painted the trim color. We were also led to believe that the job was only going to take 2 to 3 days, it took them 2 weeks as they kept leaving to work on another job. Without consulting us some very heavy items that we could not move they removed from the deck. Their response to this about how we were going to get these items put back was "not our problem". Have now learned that it is going to cost us $45 and hour to get these items back where they belong. Even though job was not completed they refused to leave until paid in full and the contract signed. On top of all this had to give them access to a bathroom so they could all tramp through the house. Never again will we hire these people to work. BEWARE Mrs. P C more

"Incompetent" 7/14/2010

The name of the business (Student Painters) defines the quality of work I recieved from them. They are not professional painters. Beware the sales talk. Go cheap, hire students, and prepare for a disaster. more

Nightmare 6/13/2010

Affordable and accommodating house painting 7/22/2004

A little over six months ago, my husband and I hired Student Painters.net to paint the exterior of our 1928 home in Seattle. When the crew leader came out to do the estimate, he told us about a house just around the block that they had also painted. In doing the estimate, we were given lots of options on where we could cut costs or make upgrades. It was nice to see they had some flexibility. After we got the estimate, we walked up to the other house to check out the paint job. Seeing what we liked, we knocked on the door and spoke with the owner. She told us about her experience and because everything she said was good and because they were reasonably priced, we hired them. The crew leader paid us another visit to leave us with paint chips to decide on the colors. In the end, he was the one who choose the right white to achieve our desired look for the trim. The crew leader continued to be very accommodating, acquiring quarts of paint to do test patches on the house before we committed to a color. When we didn't find exactly what we wanted, he custom-blended the color that we eventually went with. The crew was very professional. Everyday, one or two guys would show up. They worked around the various obstacles in our garden. They even put up with our dogs. We let them leave their equipment by the side of the house and in the driveway overnight. The job was done in about a week, with most of the time spent on prep work--taping and scraping. I don't think we could have asked for better results for $3500. Everyone we know agrees it was a vast improvement over the previous bad paint job and color. more
