Absolutely wonderful 11/29/2009

We were a group of 8 needing to make a theater showtime. The waiter was sensitive to our timing; the food was unbelievably good; the atmosphere just lovely; we all agreed we'd be back again soon. Their price-fixe dinner was perfect. Pros: Food is spectacular; reasonable prices more

Intimate Dining at its Finest 1/29/2009

This may come across as corny, but I don't really care. My best friend and love of my life took me to dinner here in October 2007. The ambiance, spirits, and fare made it a dining experience I will never forget. The lighting added to the moment. I highly recommend this establishment for an intimate get-together for someone special in your life. Pros: Everything more

Average but friendly 9/28/2008

The reviews we read on this site are very misleading. Unless 5 stars means average, the ratings are way over the top. We came because of the proximity to an evening event we were attending and needed to have an early dinner. \r \r This is a friendly place with a comfortable atmosphere - table linens, oil candles, nice window/open air seating available. Service is efficient, attentive and fast. The food, however, is average at best. The cost for the prix fixe menu is so reasonable that perhaps average is OK. Those items are clearly the best value. The ala carte items are a bit more, so it would be fair to expect better, but the salad greens arrived limp, the avocado spotted and discolored. The pasta was drowned in an unremarkable sauce (the lamb ragu should have been really rustic and flavorful) and somewhat overcooked. A seafood linguini dish was only slightly better. The proseco at $15 a glass is a bit overpriced, but many bottle selections on the wine list are reasonable and offer good value. Think Italian diner, and realistically 2-3 stars. For $75 per person you could do better, even in NYC. Pros: Service, ambience, dessert Cons: Food is far from fine dining more

A place to revisit 2/27/2008

Last week my wife and I happened to stumble on to this lovely Italian Restaurant while doing some shopping in midtown. We had a wonderful dinner especially the Papardelle with Shrimp, Scallops and Asparragus. The Strada 57 Salad was also outstanding. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was good. The place was very busy and all the tables were full. We shared a nice bottle of Cambria Chardonnay which the waiter suggested. It was a very good choice. The desserts were delicious. My only concern was the weight I gained from finishing the generous portions they served us. Considering the location this is a bargain. We shall return. Frequently... \r \r \r more

Cozy, and quiet in the middle of bustling 57th Street 2/17/2008

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It was the dinner rush on a Sunday, and although the place was busy, the wait staff was extremely attentive and polite. For mid-town, the prices were more than reasonable. And most importantly, the food was fantastic. We weren't feeling particularly daring, so we stuck to simple dishes this time like the Chicken Parmesan, Cheese Ravioli, fried mozzarella, but the flavor and portion size was wonderful. As important were the deserts. The chocolate mousse and the tiramisu were a nice way to cap off the meal. they were very rich but not overblown. Compared to the many 'theme' restaurants up and down 57th, this is a wonderful jewel in the heart of Manhattan. The atmosphere was romantic, but not uncomfortable or 'snooty'. I cant wait to try many of the items on the menu, and there is enough variety that no can walk away unsatisfied. more

bad attitude 11/9/2007

Poor Service"" by tw1967 (1 comment posted)\r November 10, 2007 - My family and I were in the resturant and although my food was ok another person in my party was not satisfied with his food when other people in my party tried the food on the plate the consensus was that it was not good ( it had a very fishy taste). The waiter offerd to get somthing else but by that time the rest of the people in our party were almost done with there dinners so he said to the waiter ""never mind just take it back"" when the check came the other person in the party noticed that he was being charged for the meal after sending it back. He of course refused to pay for the meal.when the manager/owner refused to take the meal off the bill there of course was a problem. Why should anyone in any resturant have to pay for a meal that was unsastisfactory and sent back.....well the owner said it was half eaten and we explained to him that we all tried some of it and all agreed that it was awful. With that said the manager then said to him(the other person in the party) ""we have had problems with you before.......In fact we (my family) have eaten there before and have alwys enjoyed it........just on our first visit of many ther relative in question sent a plate back many months ago...could this be the problem the manager was talking about? When a new yorker goes to a resturant he should not be treated that way, therefore even the food is fair the service not only is bad but down right rude""We have had problems with you before"". Does the owner/Manager always treat customers who refuse to pay for meals sent back because of poor to bad quality ,this way...............This resturant just lost a valuable repeat customer. Pros: food is ok Cons: management can not take complaints more

A very nice surprise 9/27/2007

Strada 57 is wonderful. The food was good and reasonably priced in my opinion, and the atmosphere is very nice (dim lighting and candles, romantic). The server visited a few times to check on us, but wasn't intrusive. I'll be back. \r more

Just Ok 9/19/2007

Went here for a buisness lunch.. I had read all the reviews so I thought it would be really good, but it was just okay... the sauce tasted like it had come out of a bottle. The people eating sea food dishes seemed content, but my ravioli was pretty average. Pros: good service Cons: average food...better italian other places more

Genuine Italian Seasoning Is an Art at Strada 57 8/13/2007

Whenever I eat at Strada 57 whether it?s an extravagant dish or something simple, there?s never any shortage of seasoning or flavor; ?I LOVE IT!? \r \r Whatever traditional process and seasoning they use it?s a secret, and I?m left only to my many frequent visits; I?m not complaining but I only wish I could serve up something comparable to Strada 57 myself.\r \r It comes as no surprise that owner himself dines in his own restaurant, with his immediate family, on a regular basis.\r \r Strada 57 is in a perfect location for me, and with the perfect Italian cuisine, the Italian restaurant, Strada 57 is a winner in my book; ?Bon Appetite!? Pros: The Food! more

Good value, great italian restaurant 1/17/2007

My girlfriend and I found out about Strada 57 online and we are glad we went to try it. We went before a Broadway show and the meal was delicious. Great value for mid-range prices, everything we got was delicious. The fresh mozarella and proscuitto appetizer was to die for. \r \r Nice pleasant atmosphere, great service. Pros: Food, value, atmosphere Cons: n/a more

nice west side option 8/9/2006

working near 10th ave does not offer alot of dining options, but Strada 57 is a go - to spot for our office. Great food, quick servcie and the Lunch specials are a Friday favorite for us Pros: lunch specials, food, quick & friendly service more

Generous portions. Delicious sauces. Attentive staff. Tranquil atmosphere. 8/7/2006

I descovered this gem in midtown a few months ago. I have eaten there several times and will continue enjoying this fine Italian cuisine. Just yesterday I had Capellini Ignacio for lunch that I could not put my fork down untill I finished it all. They also offer an extensive selection of wines. And to top it all off the prices are very reasonable considering the location. I will go back again and again and would recommend it to my friends. Pros: Great food. Generous portions. Reasonable prices. more
