Kind & Compassion 8/24/2011

This review for Spruce Street Internal Medicine is way overdue. Everyone there, from the front desk to the doctor's, are all kind and compassionate, making it a wonderful atmosphere to be. I just want to thank you guys for doing what you do, and doing it with a caring attitude. more

Delightful Visit Every Time 8/22/2011

Thank you Spruce Street Internal Medicine for making going to the doctor's as easy and comfortable as possible. No one really enjoys going to the doctor (at least I don't) but you guys make it a delightful visit every time. Thank you. more

Uncompassionate. 10/6/2010

I scheduled an appointment here because they were able to fit me in the same afternoon I called. I went in for an extremely sore and swollen throat which was accompanied by a common cold. The doctor came into the room and immediately treated me with a lack of respect which was apparent in her being very skeptical of why I was there. After explaining to her how I was feeling she told me that I was simply having symptoms of a cold and that I just needed to go home and rest and it would pass. I explained to her that my throat really hurting and that I hadn't slept in days for the pain. She seemed annoyed and then had a look at my throat. The doctor immediately scooted back in her chair and said, ""wow! that looks painful!"". She said my throat was extremely red and swollen. She did a swab for strep throat and other things. The results were negative for strep but positive for yeast. She prescribed me an anti-yeast medication but when I asked for something for the pain (which is what a previous doctor also treated with) she looked at me as if I had suddenly denounced her religion and said, ""i've never heard of that, I dont know what you're talking about"". She then quickly got out of her chair and walked out of the room. She returned a minute later and said, the infection will pass on its own and told me to go home! She refused to write me a prescription simply because I asked about something to treat pain!\r \r Do NOT go here. They are mean and incompetent. Also, not that I have a problem with it but this is a clinic specifically designed and geared for women. It is not advertised as such but when you walk in you will find that every patient and staff is female and that all the questions on the medical evaluation are regarding female health and gynecological status. I also felt as if because I am male, I was treated a bit less compassion and respect. This may be in my head but it just seemed as if I got the cold shoulder from the staff and doctor alike.\r \r In any case, the medical care I received was extremely unprofessional and I would NOT recommend this clinic to anyone. more

Office Staff is rude, abrasive 2/9/2010

I followed Dr. Sheila Ling to Spruce Street Internal Medicine from another practice because I like her so much, but after years of struggling with the rude office staff, I'm leaving. \r \r The last straw is a bill that was submitted to insurance, but had the wrong information, so it was rejected. Instead of working with the insurance company, the billing department/office manager came after me. They put very little effort into figuring out why the claim was being rejected and alot of effort into harassing me. And like the previous review, the tone the office manager takes is very unpleasant and insulting and will leave you angry and frustrated.\r \r While the doctors/nurses may have good intentions, this practice, deceptively located in a ""quaint little house"" is not about caring for patients. Everything from always being put on hold when you call, to the ""cool"" greeting by the receptionists to the poor follow up on messages to the unhelpful billing department confirms this feeling.\r \r The care provided by the doctors and nurses is completely negated by the office staff and, it seems, that is not likely to change. For this reason, I cannot recommend this practice. more

Highly recommended! 12/19/2007

Most people only write reviews when they have a complaint, but after reading one such review I thought I should write one of my own about the positive experiences I have always had at Spruce St. Internal Medicine. I am a long-time patient and although I now live outside of the area I wouldn?t think of going anywhere else for my medical care. The doctors and staff are not only efficient and helpful, they also make me feel like they genuinely care about my well-being. Several times I?ve needed to come in unexpectedly and they have gone out of their way to work me in despite their busy schedule, and I have always found the office manager to be friendly and courteous. Plus, they have their own parking lot! I would recommend this office to anyone. more

Don't go there. 4/6/2007

My husband went to this office, and no one in my family will ever go back. Our insurance made a mistake and at first denied the claim. They didn't resend the claim, when my husband talked to them and explained the situation, they failed to note this in his chart. So the next month, they billed the entire balance to our checking acount. Our insurance is taking care of the bill, so I will get reimbursed but the office manager was rude, RUDE, RUDE on the phone with me. I could get over everything else, but there is no reason to be rude to a customer. I was honestly asking a question (about the late fee they so kindly charged us in the mean time) and she freaked out. I will never deal with these people again. I don't yell and I don't expect to be yelled at. more
