Best

So I orginally had been going to Tenpachi and loved all my haircuts/colors, but unfortunatly my favorite lady left and had to go to a new girl. I walked out looking like fraggle, ...

It's hit or miss with Sprout, depending on if the stylist you get deems you worthy of their time. Overall, the inflated prices are not worth the outcome nor the attitude of some i...

first impression: the space is beautiful and exciting in a calming sorta way. Pros: smells, products, sexy staff, relaxing yet fun. Cons: parking more

You'll look like Sprout after a Cut Here! 3/7/2007

I am super picky about my hair. I usually get it cut in NYC, or L.A., but have been searching for a decent person in the Baltimore area where I actually live. I went to Sprout b/c of the good reviews, awesome space, and location. Don't be fooled! Pros: Nice spot, nice products, clean, great atmosphere Cons: Can't cut or dye hair, uncaring desk staff more

Sprout is the BEST Salon in the WORLD! * please note: previous statement is not hyperbole (= 2/28/2007

WoWeeWoWwowWoW! My experience at Sprout was the best hair related experience of my life. The whole vibe is happy and relaxed. The staff is incredibly talented and knowledgeable about their products, processes and benefits of organic products. Pros: too many to list - everything was positive Cons: zero more

Baltimore's Best Salon 2/14/2007

WOW! I love this salon. From the interior design to the very of-the-moment cuts, everything about it speaks of attention to detail without pretention, high style, without the high price tag. What really impressed me though was how Rachael Epstein, the salon owner really seemed to listen to what I wanted out of my haircut, and also was able to give me a cut that suited by face. She has a true gift for visualizing hair. Also, everyone at the salon was relaxed and easy going. It was just a very lovely experience overall. Thanks, Sprout! Pros: beautiful atmosphere, great modern haircuts, reasonable prices Cons: getting harder to get weekday evening appointments more

LOOKING & FEELING GOOD!!! 2/14/2007

I was turned onto Sprout through a friend, so I decided to check them out. My hair was getting a little long & looking like I play in a grunge band (which I don't & don't particularly prefer). Pros: Great Experience! I have a new Salon!!! more

Would avoid 2/12/2007

Was very excited about new ""organic"" salon- was looking forward to new stylist, new experience, and better hair- was greatly disappointed. The staff was lacking energy and not a smile to be seen, hardly any reading material, receptionist on My Space most of the time, and my hair stylist was either having a bad day or is just in constant expressionless mode. I was trying to look past these things however, could not look past the fact that I was told a price on the phone which was MUCH different that price I was charged. When I questioned this the stylist at the front said ?well our pricing guides are wrong- we should probably throw them away.? I wasn't satisfied with that answer so placed a call to manager the next day just to give her a heads up- being a new salon- that her stylists and receptionist were not on the same page and giving out different prices. The manager tended to talk over me, was very loud, and all she could say was that her husband probably talked to me over the phone about price and he knows nothing about the business- then why is he answering the phone and quoting services? I got nowhere with her and was very upset at how unprofessional she was and how unaccommodating she was to a new client. I did not feel taken care of by anyone there. Also thought it was odd that when I asked stylist about the benefits of organic treatments I really wasn?t given an answer- makes you wonder.. Overall I look for a comfortable environment where I enjoy spending time and do not feel guilty or taken advantage of when paying for my services. Salons are investments for clients- these services are not cheap and you must make your clients feel that you are there for them and willing to listen to concerns. Pros: shampoo was nice Cons: overall - thumbs down! more

Fun Cut and Color with Natual Products and Great Service 1/1/2007

Having lived in Baltimore for a little over one year, I've been to at least four salons (Balance, both Tenpachi, Crush, ... ) searching for the perfect stylist in a great setting. I think Sprout finally delivered Leah! She's extremely talented with cut and color and also listens to what you like and don't like about your hair so she can work with you. I've been there twice and both times I've left extremely pleased. Plus, the atmosphere of the salon is great: open, airy, laidback. Since Sprout products are natual, the salon doesn't have that awful chemical or amonia-like smell you experience in other places. Plus, the color doesn't burn or itch when it's processing. Pros: great service, nice setting, friendly Cons: Street parking in Hampden might be tough at times but you can always park on a side street without a meter. more

Fun location, great haircut 12/28/2006

I really enjoyed this salon. Since leaving Hawaii, I have been looking for a low-key, calm, and inspiring environment where I can get my hair done, and leave feeling great about the hair, but also about the time I've spent there. There was no sales pressure, it was quiet, but a beautiful spot. Rachel did a really great job on my hair, and although I was late for my appointment (I messed up the time) she didn't hassle me about it or act like she was doing me a favor, which I really appreciated. I like that she was willing to listen to what I had to say about my hair type and incorporate that into the cut. One major plus with me is that there were no surprise up-charges at the end. What they quote you is what you get. The end result was a fun cut that I feel I won't have to spend hours styling each day. Even my kids liked it. Pros: Pricing is very compatible, if not better than other area salons. Cons: Parking is limited, no services listing, more

A Refreshing New Salon! 12/23/2006

My hair feels & looks amazing!! I have definitely shopped around in the salon department and a lot of different women and men have done my hair in the past. I told Rachel kinda what I liked as far as cut & color and she took it from there & did an awesome job. She did something very different than what I usually get (especially with the color) but was great at keeping the color & style within my comfort zone. I've never met a stylist so knowledgeable about products...I LOVE that everything is organic. Rachel answered all of my questions in detail as far as ingredients that I should & should not be putting on my hair. I really like that she has taken the time to research every product that she uses in her salon...other places could care less what they are putting on your hair. The prices for cut & color are comparable to other places that I have been to in Mt. Washington & Towson so I didn't go through sticker shock. I think I have found someone who I can stick with...my salon hopping days are hopefully over! Pros: Extremely Knowledgable Owner & Organic Cons: Parking could be tough depending on time of day more
