Was referred to Lena by my friend Rafael. She is GREAT!!! Strongly recommend to see her for a great cut. Will refer others. Thanks, Lena. Great job! Next time, you teach me R...

Worst

I went here after reading the near-unanimous praise heaped upon it here and was sorely disappointed.

GET YER HAIR DID 12/13/2005

Don't let the avante-garde, psycho-sexual aesthetic throw you off. The staff at Shorty's is serious about delivering you a perfectly coifed head of hair for a mere 18 dollars. Come back often, tip generously, and be a Chatty Cathy with your stylist and you will be treated like platinum. I particularly like Gilbert for his attention to detail and sparkling pharmaceutical personality, but I have never had a bad experience with any of the stylists, and I have been a regular for 2 years. Ample street and meter parking makes this location prime real estate for my follicles. Pros: hair, hair, hair Cons: no appointments, no appointments, why no appts? more

My New 'Do Place 3/3/2005

Full disclosure: I'm a guy with not particularly tough hair to cut. With that said, I've suffered through years of inconsistent haircuts from FS and Supercuts. Sometimes good, sometimes not. I never thought a guy's haircut mattered that much until I went here. The staff is young, hip, and veeeerrry Melrose. Giving them the same instructions I gave the other places, they get my hair to not only look better as I walk out, but still look good weeks later. And the price is right. One warning: this place tries hard to be trendy and hip. The decor is young and anything goes. People with conservative tastes probably should avoid. Pros: great cuts, price Cons: street parking, decor may offend some more

Hottest Place in Town 1/17/2005

This place was great!! They just moved to a new location down the street from the old one. Now they are at 755 N. Fairfax Ave. In a much bigger and hipper place. I was able to get the best cut of my life and the atmosphere it the greatest. The must is was great and the vibe was friendly. Best of all a haircut is only $18. Would go again and again. Pros: Inexpensive, Great Atmophere, Good Location more

Excellent barber shop! 1/5/2003

A friend recommended Shorty's and I am grateful. After doing Fantastic Sams-like places forever but never finding a good stylist and being wary of paying someone $40 to cut my short hair, this place is a find. $16 is what they charge and the stylists actually know what they're doing. Shorty's just found a regular customer. I went on a Sunday afternoon and had no wait at all. Pros: Great stylists, Cheap more

Cuts that are cutting edge! 6/27/2002

I love this place! It is funky and the stylists are cutting edge. Once you walk into the place you'll know this is not your everyday barber shop. Graffiti on the walls, club music and great energy. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, they don't take appointments. If you know who you want to see you can call ahead and get put on a list. more

  • You can get a stylish 'do, the hottest color, or just find out what's going on in town at Shorty's Barber Shop.

A men's regular haircut is only $25, which is about the same price as the big haircut chains, but the industrial style ambiance (graffiti-covered walls, pulsating music, and tattooed and pierced staff) adds so much more to the value of your haircut. At that price, you can go every few weeks and maintain the perfect look.

Shorty's has won three WeHo Awards, been listed in the "Best of LA" guide from LA Weekly, written up in CARGO Magazine, and feature worldwide on CNN. The shop is high energy, exciting, and offers a hip atmosphere. Call when you're on the way to get your name on the list or just stop in!

Editorial
  • With its retro sign and candy stripe barber pole, this barbershop might look like an all-American throwback to the '50s, but step inside and it becomes obvious that this chop shop is far more than...
