I found the younger staff members to be rather rude. I will drive to Seattle or Renton where I get treated with respect when I need yarn or supplies.

Need a Yarn fix . . . 3/10/2006

The Yarn Gallery is a great knitting store! The staff is so helpful and friendly. If you are stuck on a project and drop by they will sit with you and walk you through with grace. They have a great selection of resonably priced yarn and the store is also very comfortable. I buy most of my yarn here. Even if you don't live in West Seattle it is worth the trip! more

Best darn yarn store around. They have tons of selection and plenty of helpful service (while shopping or mid project). You may end up paying more then you would at a chain store, but the yarn is going to be 1) better quality 2) original and 3) prettier. You can even come on in for a knit and a chat. They offer plenty of instruction. more

My other favorite yarn shop 8/30/2005

(Note: this is really the Seattle Yarn Gallery; another shop called The Yarn Gallery is on Greenwood in Seattle.) I was chatting with one of the staff once (a buyer? the owner?), and she said something that suggested to me that she had a hard time saying no to all the lovely new yarns that come along. It really shows - they have tons of terrific yarn! I love this shop. I understand it's just been remodeled, but I hope it's still floor-to-ceiling stocked with quality yarn. Oh, and they have a frequent buyer program (free punchcard). more

Everything you can think of… 8/20/2005

Walking into West Seattle’s Yarn Gallery, one wonders if the shelves are going to collapse and send yarn tumbling everywhere. Yarn of absolutely every persuasion can be found here, and the staff seems like they’ve been knitting every moment of every day forever. If there is a knitting-related notion you’ve seen in the back of a knitting magazine, and you want to see it in person, stop by the Yarn Gallery – chances are, they will have the item you are looking for, and other brands to choose from as well. more

Luscious Yarns 7/19/2005

This is a smaller store filled from floor to ceiling with the most beautiful yarns. The prices are reasonable for "boutique" yarns. The staff is very helpful in guiding you towards fibers that will work for whatever type of project you have in mind. I only crochet, but figure they are even more helpful for knitters, since most folks seem to knit rather than crochet these days. They have a large pattern selection and decent book section. I believe they also offer classes. They also provide a little basket of toys which usually buys me a few minutes of browsing time w/o my daughter running a-muck! more
