Don’t have your glasses made here! 6/1/2011

I brought in a vintage frame to have my new prescription put in. As she was preparing the order, the woman told me that there was some risk involved with using a vintage frame. Having at least 15 vintage frames done over the last 25 years at various opticians without any incident, I took my chances. I got a call 10 days later telling me that the lab had broken my frame. They were apologetic, but did not offer any compensation for my broken frame. (Later they told me that was their policy, but they never informed me of that fact in advance. They only warned me about breakage.) Nevertheless, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and brought in a new frame to have my lenses put in. 2 weeks later when I got the new glasses home, I noticed that the $150 anti-reflective coating was not applied, so I had to go back again. 2 weeks later, when I got the glasses back, they seemed fine in the store, but again, when I got home, I noticed that my left eye vision was blurry. (When I rotated the frame slightly, it was fine.) I went back to Seattle Vision Clinic and the manager, Eva, adjusted the frame. Again, they seemed fine in the store, but later I noticed the same problem, leading me to believe that the lens was ground incorrectly. I went back a fourth time and after defensive and rude treatment by the staff, I became fed up and politely ask them to take the lenses out of my frame and refund my money. The woman said, “We can’t do that”, but I persisted. After talking to manager Eva, she came back and said they would refund $400, but they could not refund the $150 that my insurance company had already paid them because, “They already made the lenses.” At that point I just wanted to be done with Seattle Vision Clinic, so I agreed. (I figured losing $150 was worth it.) more

Can you sit down, 5/19/2010

Sorry, but seattle vision gets the low rating for its front desk staff and business. Our appointment that was made and confirmed on the phone, was changed to a different date, without our knowledge, or a phone call to notify us about the change. We just had talked to them one day before our appointment to confirm it too. We came to our appointment for eye exam, and were told are appointment was for the following week. This was after we were told in a mean way "can you sit down, i am working with another person, and when i finish with them i will call you" All we did was to enter, walk up to the counter to check in, waited till someone said we will be right with you, and after several minutes, were told "can you sit down". It seemed we were bothering them by standing where we were when we came up to the counter. We were just there at the counter, to check in. The staff seemed like they did not want another customer to deal with, we see that they do have alot of repeat customers, as we are too. We were not able to convince them about our appointment, they acted like we were wrong about our appointment, even after i told them i took time off of work to get here, we would not just pick a day, come here without having an appointment, but even so, they did not offer us service, simply said you have no appointment today. I guess i would have felt better if someone who over heard this conversation, which most did, since it is always very quiet, would have simply said sorry, my mistake, your mistake, both, or at least see who made the appointment, and who called us yesterday, to confirm apointment, but they did not. Not sure why? One thing for sure is that we wasted this day, without a reason as to why a business can treat customers without even a little respect.. more

I've been going to Dr. Lund Chin at the Seattle Vision Clinic in the International District since ~1995. He is the consummate professional & up to date on all of the latest technologies.
