SLC review Kierland 3/18/2011

We have been taking our son to Scottsdale Learning Center (SLC) since he was 8 months old. He is now almost 5 and in the Preschool program. We have been so pleased with his education while attending SLC. He has had a curriculum in place since he was 18 months old. At first his curriculum consisted of shapes, colors and a theme each week. For each classroom he moved into the curriculum became more comprehensive to include letters, capital and lower case, numbers, etc. We have always received praise for what our child knows / understands and attribute a large part of that to what he has learned while at SLC. more

Children are in good hands at SLC! 2/15/2011

My son began at SLC in December 2007. It was love at first sight for both of us! He felt comfortable, happy and safe. I felt confident that he was in good hands and would be cared for as part of the SLC family, not just another kid in daycare. The teachers take a personal interest in all of the children, and work as a team to enforce education, respect and play. The education that my son received has put him at the top of his class when he made the transfer to public school. When it came time for my daughter to start school, we didn't even consider anywhere else. She actually asks to go to school every day!\r The staff at Scottsdale Learning Center is genuine, trustworthy, and go above and beyond for the well-being of each child. Finding this pre-school has been a blessing and a positive start to my childrens' education. more

Hands down! Best childcare & preschool in North Scottsdale! 2/14/2011

SLC is dynamite! My son has been going to SLC since November 2009 and my husband and I could not be more happy. Out of the 13 children that he started out with, 8 of them are still together and in the same class, 2 children are in the class below because of birth dates and 3 children have either moved or stayed at home with mom because of the birth of a new baby. I have NOT heard of one child that has left SLC to go to another school. SLC provides 3 different playgrounds based on your child's age and physical ability. The infant playground is padded and surround by a security fence that includes age-friendly toys. The toddler playground is huge with plenty of space to run and play. There are plenty of bikes, balls and toys for each child to have one while playing. The grass is artificial on this playground which is great for the toddlers when they take ""spills"". You can bring in your own child's blanket for nap time use. My little one has had the same blanket the entire time and they wash it for him every other day or as needed. I also pack my son's lunch every day and the teachers and lunch staff could not be more accommodating. I have never been pressured to provide my child with SLC's snacks or lunch by any of the teachers or additional staff. SLC does not take subsidized childcare and is priced fairly. SLC is not cheap, but is worth every penny! The teachers are incredible and the turnover is practically none. All of my son's teachers have been patient and understanding with regard to teaching my son as he grows and communicating behavioral situations that need more attention when needed. We work as a team! Hands down LOVE SLC! more

RARE FIND, Simply the BEST! 2/10/2011

SCCLC is one of the rare ""day cares"" that actually focuses on the kids... this is not a babysitting facility - they actually educate and work on forming kids into active, respectful, happy little people. Some of my favorite parts: The Directors and Teachers. They're some of the sweetest, most trustworthy people we've ever met and our kids love them. Communication. There is always an open and welcome line of communication with parents - regardless of whether it's good or bad. Tuition. The tuition policies are very parent-friendly. Part-time is okay - you only pay for the time you're there. And tuition includes food and diapers. Involvement. There are lots of events to participate in with your kids and they open up their teacher education programs to parents as well. We have a toddler and an infant at the Kierland location, and SCCLC is the simply the BEST we've experienced or heard of! more

Aweful 1/25/2011

The owner is more concerned about filling the rooms to capacity than the wellfare of your child. My 4 year old was tranferred midday to a different class almost everyday ... very inconsistant & a child need consistancy. I would drop her off in one room & pick her up in another room ... ridiculous. The class she was transferred to into in the afternoons had a graduation ceremony to kindergarden, however, her morning class did not have one. VERY disappointing to many children and parents. Also, the restrooms are Co-ed and NOT monitored regularly. So, a girl and a boy could be sharing a bathroom at the same time, which happened to my daughter on 2 different occassions. I spoke to the director and she promised it would not happen again, however, it did. They pack the rooms with 25 children and only 1 teacher and 1 aide ... it is almost impossible for 2 teachers to monitor 25 students and the restrooms. more

Excellent place for facilitating learning 10/4/2010

My three children have gone to Scottsdale learning center for years & we have nothing but good things to say. The staff is very supportive of a nurturing, learning environment. My children enjoy their teachers, their friends, & the welcoming front office staff every morning. I would highly recommend this facility to any of my friends & family. more

The Best 8/19/2009

I can't begin to thank the staff at SLC for the wonderful care and guidance given to my son for the past three years. This school was one of the best decisions I've made. My son is now in Kindergarten, in public school and he is WAY ahead of the curve. The love, respect and friendships he gained will last a lifetime. I highly recommend SLC to ALL! Just can't say enough. We will never forget our experience, awesome. more

Daycare Disaster 8/19/2007

At Scottsdale Child Care and Learning Centers, our child had been bitten 4 times in 2 weeks and we inquired about the policies and procedures of the facility and shared our concerns regarding our child's well being and we were disenrolled for making the facility director uncomfortable with our questions and concerns. We were given 48 hour to find other day care. Based on our experiences, our child was never a priority at the Scottsdale Child Care and Learning Center. How could they have been; bitten 4 times and then disenrolled????? more

Inconsistency 8/17/2007

Inconsistency of staff in the classroom making an inconsistent environment. Many time went to pick up child and I was greeted by a brand new face. This has to affect learning in the classroom. more

A child care center that really cares about each child! 5/28/2005

Scottsdale Learning Center is a great place to take your child to! The staff are amazing, they all care about each child as if they were their own! They are consistent with the daily plans. They do many different learning activities throughout each day, it's great for the children! My daughter is 2 years old and loves to be there, that says a lot ! more
