Jane has been cutting my hair and styling my spouse for 20 years. I wouldn't go anywhere else. In fact, we'll be in Arizona for a few months and I'll wait until we get back befo...

Some of these comments strike me as quite unfair. I have frequented this shop for 20 years, and always ask for Debbie. I now live in San Francisco, visit Seattle frequently, and try to time my haircuts to those visits -- because Debbie always does a great job. more

Disgusted 11/8/2011

I made an appointment with Scissor's Edge last week because I needed my bangs trimmed. I called to make the appointment and told the woman on the phone exactly what I just told you - ""I need my bangs trimmed"". So when I sat down in Debbie's chair the day of my appointment, she started snipping right away. No questions, just started cutting, and telling me some ridiculous, unrelated story about her sister. I left a few minutes later with one side of my bangs significantly and noticeably longer than the other. Moreover, she completely changed the style of bangs that I had, going from piecey, feathered, longer bangs to blunt, straight (well, at least I think that's what she was trying for) and much shorter bangs than I wanted. But how would she know that's what I wanted, since she never asked and never gave me the opportunity to tell her? Debbie's problem is that she doesn't ask questions and doesn't give her clients the opportunity to tell her what they want. She just assumes. And in my case, she was wrong. Unfortunately for her, she also can't cut in a straight line. That's two major things against her and therefore I am never going back there, not even to try the other stylists. In sum, I paid $5 for a bang trim that I had to go home and try to fix myself. more

Scissor's Edge is very good 9/16/2011

The owner, Jane, is an expert hair stylist and a total professional who gets good stylists to work with her. It's also a friendly, fun place. I know many folks who come back again and again, even though they're no longer at UW. more

Don't go to Debbie. 5/16/2011

I had a great haircut with the owner, Jane....but Debbie is horrible, doesn't listen to instructions and has a messy work station. I'm guessing this is because she was on the phone while I was trying to tell her what I wanted my hair to look like. She chopped into it before I was finished telling her what I wanted, and tried to justify it by telling me it looked better than what I had asked for. \r \r Again, Jane is great. She has an eye for what works with one's features and listens to her client. I would absolutely recommend her. Debbie, on the other hand, is COMPLETELY unprofessional. I can't believe that I had to pay for her to massacre my hair.\r \r more

Horrible 1/8/2010

I wish I could give them 0 stars. I had the worst haircut I've ever had from a lady here. I could have done a much better job just cutting my own hair! Stay away... Pros: On campus Cons: Everything else more
