Family owned market 6/27/2009

This is a small family friendly "japanese" market. You can get veggies, fish (sashimi), sukiyaki meat along with other staples such as rice, stuff to make sushi, noodles, etc. They even have "bento" boxes and sushi to take home for lunch or dinner-first come first serve-items made fresh every day. The staff is OUTSTANDING and KNOWLEDGEABLE so don't hesitate to ask about anything they are sure to help. We go there every year for our "New Year Celebration" and I go there every couple weeks to pick up stuff for dinner. MMMMMM GOOOOD! more

Great prices and good food! 2/16/2006

Santo is one of the few places that makes musubi. You can find them in the front as you enter. They also sell hawaiian sun drinks at the best prices in the bay area. There is a deli in this store as well that makes these great sandwiches. They also make shaved ice when it's warm enough. more

Nice market 9/30/2005

This is a nice little supermarket. I like japanese food and so this store has become one of my favorite. I especially like japanese snacks such as cake, manju, candies. I think their snacks are delicate and delicious. You must try it if you come here. Parking is not a big problem here. I will highly recommend this little store. more

i really love these kinds of little shops. they have a great selection of food. and the manju is terrific! it's a kind of japanese candy, you've got to try it. the staff are super nice and friendly so, get to know them. parking is pretty easy to find and everything is pretty organized. they have a wide variety of foods, why not try something new? more

Great little market 7/23/2005

This is one of my favorite little markets--they carry a variety of Japanese and ethnic foods, and they also carry great Hawaiian foods such as Hurricane Popcorn from the Hawaiian popcorn company. You can also find great little snacks, such as manju from the nearby Manju shop on Jackson. If you go there regularly like me, they'll start to recognize you and remember your name. I adore the people who work there. They have a deli in the back where you can get sandwiches, and you can custom order the sandwiches too! The downside is their business hours are a bit short, so it cuts back on the convenience factor. PROS: Great staff, great selection of food and snacks CONS: Tiny, less than desirable business hours more
