What a joke. 11/26/2007

OK, the owner is an odd individual. I took a friend there and ordered pizza and salads. They messed up my order by not delivering the salads. No problem I thought, I let them know when the bill came that we did not get our salads (the charge was on the bill.) The owner looked at me like I was lieing and said that we never ordered salads. So, I asked him why he had charged us for salads, he said he didn't. (Actually kind of comical.) So, I simply showed him the bill and he actually got angry about having to remove it from our bill. I felt like I was on a candid camera show. Frankly, there are far better pizza places in Houston to put up with the non-service nonsense. Pros: Location - but if you like pizza- try Farrago's next door. Cons: The mangement, the service, the pizza more

Avoid the West Grey location 10/21/2007

I don't know who owns this location but they are cheap when it comes to toppings and everything else. I ordered the New Yorker, which has a lot of toppings, when they brought it to me it looked like I ordered a cheese pizza. I let them slide the first time. However, I went back to give it another chance and this time the messed up my order. Usually restaurants throw away the entire pizza and start from scratch with a new pizza, but not this one. They actually wiped off the toppings and added the toppings I ordered. Let?s face it, if you?re that cheap, then maybe you should move to a cheaper location so customers don't have to suffer.\r \r Go to the suburbs if you want to visit a New York Pizzeria! They give you a lot more for your money. more

Great Pizza, beware the lunch crowds 7/26/2007

As an Italian from New York, transplanted here almost 6 years ago, I've finally found a place to get pizza as good as I got back home: New York Pizzeria\r \r The entire pie has a great combination of the proper cheeses, good sauce, toppings and great crust.\r \r If you're an East Coast transplant like I am, this will be your last stop in trying to find a good pizza\r Pros: Great pizza Cons: Having to drive downtown for it when living in the burbs more

True NY Style! Delicious!! 6/22/2007

This is the most reliable delivery service in the Med. Center and the tastiest pizza. It's the good traditional NY style - thin and cheesey. You have to bend it to eat it by hand. What makes their pizza the best is the marinara sauce and the cheese they use an aromatic blend of fresh herbs. This makes even a plain peperoni pizza something special, but for real pizza heaven, I reccommend the Margherita pizza. Manga! more

Good food for a good price! 4/18/2007

Good food in a casual, low-hassle atmosphere. The weekday lunch hour tends to attract a crowd. Enjoy pizza, pastas, salads, and ice-cold beer. I have spent more money here over the years than in any other restaurants combined. Always good food for a good price - what else can you ask for? more

Delicious food!! Good customer service!! 4/17/2007

Delicious food, amazing dessert, and great wine selection. Good customer service. I dine out frequently and love trying new places. I found the food to be very fresh and authentic. You really need to try this place. They have a great wine list with lots of interesting wines. The atmosphere has a very cozy, neighborhood cafe feel to it. Will definitly be back soon. \r \r \r more

Best pizza in Houston 4/17/2007

This is the best pizza I've had in Houston. I've been to several other places in the area, and was disappointed. Their calzonesand lasagna are also especially delicious, and they don't skimp on the sauce or the toppings. more

The REAL deal 4/17/2007

I am a Houston native who had the great opportunity to be able to spend many years in New York. Trust me when I say that NYP is the REAL deal!! Taste just like the true New York style pizzas. Definitly won't be disappointed..... \r more

Great family atmosphere!!! Even better food!!! 4/16/2007

This is the best pizza in town. Once you try it, you'll never want any other pizza. The prices are great, and the slices are huge. And the people there are so friendly. Great place to eat for the family. It's got a charming atmosphere, very cozy. Manager knows most customers by name. Very personable staff. Would highly recommend the Greek calzone and the chicken marsala. Great lunch specials too!!! \r more

Best pizza place around!! Highly Recommended!!! 4/16/2007

I usually eat here about two to three times a week. The dishes are great!! The pasta and salads are great also, I highly recommend the Pesto Pasta Salad. Everytime I eat here I try a new dish and have never been disappointed. The servings are large and come to you sizzling hot. It's so much better than any pizza place around . Fresh quality ingredients always. Definitly would recommend to family and friends.\r \r more

Best Pizza I have EVER had!! 4/14/2007

I just had dinner at Westheimer and Chimney rock location. The service was AWESOME!! I ordered a Greek pizza. The ingredients were fresh, the pizza was cooked just right Thin and Crispy -just like the pie in New York. We love this place because they serve so much more than just pizza. My favorite pasta dish is the pasta di mare. The sauce is spicy the seafood is fresh and the pasta is cooked al dente. Also make sure you try the Tiramisu, what a great treat at the end of a delicious meal!! \r \r \r Pros: Fast casual, priced right more

best pizza in houston even tasted better then i had in new york 2/1/2007

i was surprised to read a bad review about this place, all i have to say to lex keep eating at panzo .. you like frozen pizza, this place i found by accident being a new yorker this is real pizza. i was eating a great giant slice of pizza and watching the cook make fresh pizza dough, wow thats amazing.. not to many places make there own dough fresh. the village slice tasted great. to me its better what i had in new york,,if you want real pizza in houston this is the place just look at the food lex. its not loaded with cheese like other chain you can actually taste the sauce and the crust full of flavor, not a mouth full of cheese.take my advice i am from new york this is the place for pizza. Pros: great location near the medical center Cons: needs to be bigger more

Maybe it's better to eat in 1/10/2007

The people at our favorite Heights-area pizzeria know our take-out order, but last week after a drink or two, we decided to try something different. That day we'd received another pizza delivery coupon on our front door, so we ordered from the West Gray Location.\r \r We ordered a ""new"" Italian pizza listed on the coupon sheet and were told it would be here in about 45 minutes. This pizza was advertised as having roasted peppers, pepperoni and Italian sausage. We were pleasantly surprised when it showed up much sooner, but that was followed mainly by disappointment. First of all, the ""roasted"" peppers were just raw green bell peppers. I like raw green bell peppers, but why call them anything else? I don't think the 10 minutes they're in the pizza oven counts as roasting. The Italian sausage was pretty good though.\r \r One big issue with the pizza was how soggy it was. Too much sauce? I don't know. This may be why it's better to eat in the restaurant, but I don't expect that we'll try that any time soon. I picked it up and the entire thing flopped down. It was so flaccid that it was even hard to fold in half to eat! This leads me to my last criticism: the crust. It took me a little while to decide what it reminded me of, but I eventually figured it out...it tasted just like the Pillsbury pizza dough you buy in a can and roll out. I'm not saying it is; that's just what it tasted like.\r \r My last comment is more of a question. Why is the word 'organic' in quotation marks? Maybe I'm a grammar critic in addition to a pizza critic, but I don't understand it. Is it not certified organic by the USDA, so they have to call it ""Organic""? Pros: Fast delivery Cons: Soggy crust, toppings weren't as advertised more

incompetent counter-help 11/20/2006

The counter help got the order wrong, and refused to make it right when brought to their attention. He just scowled and made denials, pointing fingers of blame, even when my dinner companion confirmed what I had ordered. No refund nor willingness to provide what was ordered. At the time of the order the counter help did not repeat order back when made nor issue any sort of receipt showing what was ordered, and thus assumed responsibility. I left and went to Pronto's on Montrose, which is much better pizza anyway. Glad I paid with credit card because I will dispute the charges. Cons: service more

Do not order delivery! 11/20/2006

The first time we ordered delivery from this location, it was here in half-an-hour and unbelievably delicious. The next two times, delivery was over an hour late (taking 1 1/2 - 2 hours to arrive) and the pizza was cold and stale. Yuck!! Pros: Extremely late delivery; cold, stale pizza more

Good pizza- mean staff! 11/6/2006

I really like the food here, but every time I think about going here I am reluctant to go back beacuse while the food is really good and the prices are good, every time I have either dined in here or ordered delivery from here, they have been really mean! I guess this adds to the NY ""atmosphere"" but it is really kind of irritating. If you go, go expecting good food and not for the ambiance or service. Pros: good food Cons: mean staff more
