I will be back 11/12/2008

Went for the first time last week. I was floored by the food. I haven't eaten in such decadence in a LONG LONG time. This is easily the best meal that I have had in NYC. I didn't think that the prices were too outrageous considering the portion size. My starter could have been an entree.\r \r All that being said, the restaurant is sweet and the service is good without being over bearing.\r \r I will be back. I will be back all the time.\r Pros: quality food, amazing service more

Just OK 8/1/2008

Stopped at Rosie's before seeing Jersey Boys. Nice and close to theater. It was empty and we were seated immediately. Menu did not impress. This is an Irish Pub and they do not serve corned beef on the dinner menu. I requested a hamberger, which was not on the menu, for the price of $12.00, a cheeseburger was $15.00 . It was OK, but not great. Tab with coffee, tax and tip $25.00.\r \r Too Pricey for a Jersey Girl more

Great Food & Atmosphere 1/22/2008

I've been to Rosie O'Grady's many times for meetings as well as with my wife for dinner. Its located conveniently in the midtown/Times Sq. area which is always a plus for business meetings and groups. More importantly, the food is excellent as is the service. I've never been disappointed. Great steaks and seafood, nice ambiance. Pros: Cuisine, Service more

Stay Away From This Place! 1/7/2008

I've visited this restaurant twice - once in Oct. 2007 and again in Jan. 2008. In October, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience AFTER the floor manager took over for our waitress whose shift apparently ended during our meal. And her attitude suggested that it was time for her to leave. Despite the rocky start, the only complaint I had was that the restaurant was drafty. \r \r When I returned in January, I was eager to take friends there but it was a bust. One person's soup was cold, the grilled WARM portobello soup was cold, the bread was cold to the touch, and one coffee was cold (whipped cream floated in it like an iceberg). The lobster ravioli which my friend enjoyed in Oct. was bland in Jan. Our waiter was perfectly indifferent to our requests/complaints (telling us that that they don't serve WARM bread when we told him the bread wasn't even room temperature - which isn't saying that much given that the restaurant was again drafty). Also, I spoke with the floor managers about my differing experiences at the restaurant and how I would be hesitant to return in the future. They thanked me for my feedback and offered nothing - no dessert, no discount, no apology to the table.\r \r So while I plan to return to the area often, I will spread the word and will not return to that restaurant. This is the first review that I've ever been moved to write. So steer clear. While your experience could be good, it just might not be. Pros: Close to Broadway Cons: Everything else. It's just a roll of a dice as to what kind of service you'll have from night to night. more

OK 8/12/2007

I ran into a reality show contestant at this theatre district corner restaurant. That, however, was the highlight of the experience. The steaks are good but nothing special and the rest of the food is OK. Service is good but the wine is served in really small glasses and the selection is very far from impressive. Good for after a broadway show if you don't want to walk a lot but that's about it. Pros: Location, service Cons: Food, presentation more

Service is terrible, Management did nothing to correct experienc 7/1/2007

Avoid this place. The service is horrble. It started with the bread. The rolls were cold and stale. I asked the waitress if there was any other bread and she said no, even though the 2 tables next to us had other bread. My steak was not cooked correctly and I sent it back. Instead of just cookingi t more, they made another steak. It came out when everyone else in my party was done. The replacement steak was even rawer.\r \r I spoke with the manager and she just said she would not charge me. Wasn't thatt great !!?? No dinner , what a favor.....???\r \r Then they forgot one of our parties desert that came with the pre-fix. When the others in our party got ceaser salad, they were not offered fresh ground pepper. We saw other tables getting pepper.\r \r When we asked for refills on drinks, the waitress forgot.\r \r To top off the bad experience, when leaving the waitress said, ""have a good night"" I told her I couldn't beacause I did not get my steak and the service was bad. She started to argue with me. Her assistant jumped in to defend her and started argueing. He said the reason we didn't get a variety of bread was that it comes in a different times during the night. I told him that the 2 tables next to us had the variety, so why didn't we?. He said that it just came in, even though both tables were seating within 10 minutes apart and the bread delivered to the tables within minutes \r \r Why would the staff start an arguement with with a dissatisfied customer? When I was leaving I told the Manager that the waitress and her assistant picked a fight with me and that she should do something. She wasn't sympathic at all.\r \r In summary, don't bother going, the aggrevation is not at all worth it and management doesn't care. Cons: Terrible service more

Great Trad. Irish Fare 10/26/2006

Although it is a large restaurant and bar, you get a really great cozy feel to this restaurant. I've grown up on Irish food, and visit Ireland freequently, and this is the closest you get! Enjoy! more

EXCELLENT - you MUST go there 6/2/2006

My husband and I went here during our recent trip to NYC. We were very impressed with this place. The ambience was great, good service, and outstanding food. I had a mixed seafood entree which was absolutely delicious. My husband is VERY picky with food - especially when it comes to steak and he praised the steak very highly (and trust me, this doesn't happen often). Don't be fooled by this place being listed as an ""Irish Pub"" - the inside looks very upscale and the service is comparable to other very nice restaurants. If you're in the city and are looking for good food, special occasion celebration, romantic dinner, or just a relaxing place to eat, you should definitely try out this place. Pros: Great food, Great ambience, Good service more

Good Meal in Good Ambiance 12/18/2005

Family and I ate at Rosie's for an early dinner (4PM) during our visit to NYC. We were seated promptly though it was a few minutes before we were given menus and water. Ambiance and decor was fun and relaxing. Prices were a little higher than we're used to, the families' steak were good and they were pleased. My seafood combo was nothing to write home about as portions seemed small for the price. It was decent meal to me. Overall, I would recommend Rosie's but would probably be good idea to have a reservation if you dine later in the evening. Pros: Decor, Service, Steaks Cons: Price, Seafood portion more

Not bad, but not great either 9/13/2005

My wife and I visited this place Mon, Sept 12, 2005. I had a seafood combination plate that was very good. I imagine most of their seafood dishes are pretty good. However, my wife ordered a steak, medium-rare, and there was hardly any pink in it at all. She had to resort to A-1 to flavor it up enough to eat it. The ambiance is very nice, and the service was exceptional (he did offer to make another steak), but we'll try another place for steak the next time we hit the city. more

Great Place, Great Staff 3/10/2003

We were at Rosie's March 7, 2003. We went out on the town with the idea that we were going to mingle with the ""in crowd"", you know, go to a place where you pay an outrageous cover charge, have to wear all black to ""fit in"", and pay $12 for a watered-down martini, and if you're lucky, have a good time. We stopped in at Rosie's to get a quick bite before we headed out on our journey, and ended up staying the whole night! We hung out downstairs, where the music was great, the people were friendly, drinks were excellent (ask Greg to mix you up a Cherry Lifesaver!). My wife & I will certainly be back the next time we're in town. --sjk Pros: Ambience, Downstairs, Great people Cons: none! more

Awesome food! 12/9/2002

My parents and I stumbled across this place freezing and starving after visiting Rockefeller Plaza to see the Christmas tree. We were treated to delightful service, but the food is the star here. We each got something different and none of us went wrong. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the preparation was perfect. The shrimp and scallop risotto was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted in any restaurant. Definitely check this place out. more

With friendly staff, stiff drinks and good food, it's hard to beat in midtown. While it attracts mostly tourists and business types, it's a great meeting place and perfect for groups. more

Splendid Food & Drinks 11/15/2002

On each visit to Rosie O'Grady's I have found this restaurant always has a comforable dining atmosphere. The menu has a good selection to choose from and I was very impressed with the service. It was prompt, couteous and what a delight. Looking forward to my next visit more

Upscale Irish Pub 9/12/2002

An upcale Irish pub which offers great food & service. Steaks are amazing & it's a good choice for large groups. Pros: great food, terrific staff Cons: higher prices more

Great Steaks, Fun Bar 7/26/2002

We were pleasantly surprised to find a great restaurant in Times Square. After a show we had surperb steaks and had cocktails at the bar. The bartender was really fun and the crowd was great. We would recommend it highly! Pros: Best Steaks, Fun Bar, Near Theaters more

Our favorite bar 7/10/2002

I didn't eat here ( although I tried, but the kitchen was closed by 11:30 on Friday evening), but Rosies is our favorite bar in NYC because of the great selection of draft beer, the courteous and skilled bartenders and the interesting people that you are likely to encounter here more
