Sour mashed potatos and burnt creme brulee 8/28/2007

Went with my wife on a Tuesday. About 4 tables. Relatively quiet. To start, I had the French onion soup and my wife the lobster bisque. Both were ok, nothing spectacular. For the main course, I had the veal which wasn't very tender. Tasted more like an overcooked t-bone than veal, and worst of all, the mashed potatoes were actually sour as in spoiled sour! I complained to the waitress/hostess, so she offered a free dessert which was gracious. We got the creme brulee, and the sugar on top was black! Worst creme brulee I've ever had. We're relatively new to the Southbay, so we're trying new restaurants. Definitely won't be coming back. Pros: Waitress was nice. Cons: Food was bad. more

Great Find! 8/15/2007

As you may know from another review I wrote, I have a problem with the Star Rating System on this site. However, in this case, I wonder why the overall rating for Reed's is 4.5 stars, when all of the reviews, including mine, give it 5 stars? I hatr to rave about this place, because you all will go there and I won't be able to get in. In summary, Reed's has wonderful traditional french food at reasonable prices with excellent service. It's off in the coner of a shopping center, which, of course, is the reason for the fre parking. Just a side note: it occupies the space formally occupied by St. Estephe, which was an icon during the Southwest food craze. more

Great Valentines set menu! UPDATE: It's CLOSED down. 2/15/2007

Not too expensive considering it was National Lovers Day! Set menu with four choices of the main entree including lamb, filet mignon, fish and chicken along with a salad and dessert. The salad was not so good but the main course was delicious. I opted for the filet mignon and a fine bottle of Coppola's Diamond Merlot. It was a perfect dinner for us. Each person was $45. I would definitely try Reeds again - on a regular menu night. And yes, I agree its a hidden treasure! Literally! You would miss it if you weren't looking closely. Pros: Good food for a set menu night Cons: Tables too close together, service could be better more

Amazing Dining Experience 10/17/2005

I've been coming to Reeds for 2 years and I agree with ""Oz"" that Reeds is a hidden treasure. I don't know what happened to the other reviewer, because it doesn't matter if I'm in flip flops or there for my sister's graduation, we always have excellent service. The lunches are great, tons of variety, and the lobster raviolis are to die for. They're at dinner too... the raviolis as an appetizer and the filet or the garlic shrimp as an entree... Perfection! I've never had a bad meal and neither have my guests. It's even my 6 year old's favorite restaurant - she loves their butter pasta and parmesan cheese! You usually don't need reservations, but for my sister's graduation we came with 15 people, got a great price on a special 4 course menu and had a fantastic time. Pros: amazing service, excellent food, reasonable prices more

A hidden treasure 10/28/2002

I've been frequenting Reeds for the past three years, and it has somehow remained a well-kept secret. Friendly, courteous staff serve resonably priced, outstanding cousine and fine wine in a relaxed atmosphere, complete with soft background piano music. I usually indulge in the steak, but the other entrees on the menu are equally outstanding. Don't skip the soup... Pros: Great food, Great service, Great price more
