MUCH BETTER BABY STORES IN AUSTIN 1/25/2012

I will never shop here again! There are much better baby stores in Austin. The staff is always rude and too busy to help the customers. Most of them have no kids and know nothing about the products. The clothes are overpriced and the furniture selection is minimal. Also, beware of the horrible return policy. more

Love this one! 1/25/2011

Walked into this classy Austin baby and maternity boutique last week and can't stop thinking about how perfect my experience was! The customer service was top notch, friendly and helpful but did not smother me while I browsed. Also, they were extremely knowledgeable! more

Great Merchandise! Great Customer Service! Great Store! 6/11/2010

I feel that it is my duty to tell everyone all of the wonderful things about this store! After my experience at Picket Fences, I got on Citysearch and was shocked to discover all of the negative feedback. Keep this in mind: People generally only log onto these sites if they have had a bad experience. Rarely do you find people taking the time to note positive things. Since I am very pregnant and have all the time in the world, that is precisely what I am going to do. Picket Fences is an absolute dream for a pregnant woman. I have been all over Austin desperately searching for maternity clothes that are still cute and fashionable and make me feel good about myself. No where else could I find the selection that I found at Picket Fences. Sure, it is kind of pricey, but only because they carry many of the higher end brands. I was able to outfit my entire pregnancy after one trip through the store. The sales people were wonderful (I was working with the manager), and they were always honest with me about how everything fit and looked. It was clear that she was not going for the sale, but truly wanted me to look and feel good in what I was wearing. As far as the merchandise for baby, all it takes is a once around in the store to realize that they have the absolute cutest stuff. I was able to create my dream nursery, using only Picket Fences. They had most everything I wanted in the store, and if they didn't, they ordered it for me and it was no problem. The manager helped me design adorable custom bedding (She really has a knack for that sort of thing - I highly recommend her assistance!), and when I left the store, I couldn't have felt more ready for my baby. I will go back to Picket Fences again and again! And as far as the complaints that I have read about their return policy... THEY HAVE IT POSTED EVERYWHERE, PEOPLE! From the hours that I spent in the store, I must have seen policies posted in at least 5 different places. Maybe it's just because I have loved everything that I have purchased from Picket Fences that I haven't had a problem with the return policy, but still. All I am trying to say is go to Picket Fences and decide for yourself. I think it is a wonderful store, and I have recommended it to ALL of my friends!! Pros: MOST adorable baby items and the BEST maternity in town!! Cons: TOO cute - I have never had a bad experience more

Poor Customer Service-Do Not Shop Here 12/28/2009

Do yourself a favor and do not spend any money at this store. I bought a diaper bag and bedding at this store, despite reading many bad reviews about customer service and return policies. I was never told that my bedding was non-returnable when I purchased it. After finding out that my sonogram was incorrect and that I was having a boy instead of a girl, I was told that I was unable to return my bedding; store credit was not even an option. I was also told that my poor customer service was due to coming in on a bad day and was reminded that my bedding was on sale. I don't believe that buying sale merchandise equates to being ignored in a store. Be wise and shop at Nordstroms or Saks instead. They have better merchandise and sales people that are helpful. Picket Fences is a baby boutique with rude, dishonest and unreasonable sales people. If you like nice things, there are much better places in Austin. Pros: store carries some nice items Cons: poor customer service and poor return policy more

Not worth it 1/14/2009

Purchased custom crib bedding. The sales person wasn't really good at putting colors/fabrics together. I paid 1/2 of the total cost up front. When the bedding came in, I was charged sales tax again when I paid the remaining balance of the bedding. Also, they used the wrong fabric for the bedding ties so I had to take it back. Finally, the crib was not ordered on time and is now two weeks past due. I'm due in two days. The customer service here is horrible...it feels as though they really don't want to help unless you are wanting to spend a lot of money. Also, there seems to be zero system in place...too many hands in the kitchen. Pros: nice selection of items Cons: horrible service, horrible return policy, not helpful more

pricey but worth it. 7/16/2008

it's a good store and it's worth visiting, especially with the custom bedding. i had a little problem with the parking, however. Pros: great selection, custom baby goods! Cons: pricey, not enough parking more

Great Store and customer experience!!! 7/11/2008

I have had many great experiences at Picket Fences baby boutique!! I have two little boys who have had rooms completely furnished by the unique store. The furniture is practical, beautiful, and the furniture will have longevity in our home as the boys will be able to ""grow with it"" over time. I have loved everything I've taken home - from maternity clothes, to custom bedding, to furniture, to adorable baby clothes and accessories. In fact, when I was miserably pregnant there were several times when Picket Fences Maternity was the only place I could find adorable, comfy clothes. I've experiences great customer service (especially from the owner) and appreciate everything the store has brought to my home. The parking has been challenging at times but it's well worth it!! Highly recommended to anyone visiting or living in the Austin area!! Pros: great store with unique gifts Cons: parking more

Could have been a No. 1 Baby Boutique if the Customer Service was Present 6/20/2008

Picket Fences is a great boutique but the customer service is terrible. I was in a couple of days ago and a tall brunet was working. She did not acknowledge me but managed to stare at me for a few seconds. There were a couple of cute girly things I was interested in buying but decided not to when the customer service was lacking. I would have to agree that there are a plethora of other baby boutiques in Austin that are more deserving of my purchases. Pros: beautiful baby items Cons: bad customer service; parking more

i like this store 6/4/2008

i've shopped here a few times and each time i had an enjoyable experience. great selection of merchandise and the salesfolk have always been helpful to me. more

Not a glowing experience for a pregnant lady 4/14/2008

This is my very first online review of anything. I read the other posts referring to the bad customer service and I feel the SAME way - I thought they were just rude to me. One reviewer said she liked this store because ""they do not harrass you"". Be prepared for this - they do not talk to you at all. The parking isn't plentiful, which is a real minus when you are largely pregnant in the Austin summer. I entered the store hot and tired from walking all the way down the behind ally. No one greeted me, but that's not a big deal. It is a big problem though, after 30 minutes of browsing and listening to the employees chatting loudly with their friends that had come in, I did have some questions. Immediately after their friends left, they went right to the phone. Despite this, I went back with my sister later in the week and it was a complete repeat performance. The only reason I felt compelled to write this is that we then went down 35th to another baby boutique and were immediatly offered water, smiles and great help. The cute things you find at Picket Fences can also be found around town at places that seem to want you there. more

Didn't pass the test... 1/25/2008

Unfortunately, I agree with the bad reviews... A boutique is special because of the uniqueness of the products and catering to a more exclusive shopper, I get that! Therefore relying on the customer experience as part of the package, especially a pregnant one!! I don't expect flower petals at my feet when I shop but like most people ~ I always notice indifference. more

Cute, but terrible customer service 1/11/2008

I am due to have a little girl in 3 months and I am looking for a Ju Ju Be diaper bag. I picked one out online and wanted to see it in person and this store supposedly carries this brand. The parking here was awful, but the store was really cute and didn't seem dirty. I found a bag that I thought was the one I wanted, but wasn't sure so I took it up to the two women at a desk - neither would acknowledge me. Finally I asked the girl looking down at papers if she knew the name of the bag. She finally looked up and told me it was on the tag and grabbed it and looked at one of their catch phrases and told me that that was the name (It was not). More research online proved that it was the bag I was looking for and the ""sales"" person just didn't want to bother with me. So I would have bought a bag from them, instead I will buy online or at a friendlier baby store in Austin. Pros: Cute, unique baby items and maternity wear Cons: Parking, customer service, pricey more

TERRIBLE SERVICE - HORRIBLE RETURN POLICY - 10/26/2007

I am 8 months pregnant, I bougth hosiery a month ago for a wedding out of the country. I just returned from my trip and since I did not use it I wanted to return it. It was in its sealed original package. I went to the store and they looked at me as if I was trying to return i am not sure what. They said hey have a 10 DAYS return policy plus that is consider underwear and those sales are final. Definitely, will shop at Babies are Us where you can return anything you have not used. ALso, their cribs are overpriced. I bouth the exact same one from USA Baby (next to Central market South) for $150 less. more

Beautiful baby boutique 5/1/2007

I loved this boutique. They offer the most amazing products for your baby's room and clothing. They also had a great selection of stationary and maternity clothing. You can pick out a piece of fabric from a large unique selection and custom make your bedding for you baby and theres always someone there to help you decide on what colors and styles to pick. The owner is always there and is very helpful and sweet. You can park up front or in the back, it can be tough to get to but its worth it. more

Have been a customer for almost 4 years. 12/13/2005

I have always had a good experience at Picket Fences. They do not harrass you when you walk in and they are very helpful at coordinating fabrics for the nursery, the owner-Katherine-has a gift in interior baby design! more

Terrible service 11/6/2005

I was shocked at how poor the service at Picket Fences was; I am 5 months pregnant and was so excited to select a nursery; the staff was rude and didn't even greet me, never mind helping me to select anything. Needless to say, they didn't and won't get our business. Parking was terrible too. Cons: Terrible service, Dirty store more
