The Palmer house is a good hotel, but chicago has so many that are so much better.

Wonderful location 11/10/2005

We love staying at the Palmer House. It is a lovely facility and very well located. We prefer to be in the loop rather than Michigan Avenue. We're so close to Fields and many other shops and all the theaters. more

Classy! 9/23/2005

We stayed at the Palmer House Hilton on a long busy summer weekend. We actually stayed there on accident. We tryed priceline.com and got a $52.00 a night rate. We were worried, thinking that we made a big mistake. We had a wonderful time! The hotel is classy and dripping in beauty. We loved walking aroung the hotel. Every staff member we encountered greeted us and was very pleasant, friendly, and polite. Our room was the smallest hotel room we had ever seen. It did have a king bed, 2 night stands, desk, ect. Yet the walking room was not the greatest. It did not bother us though. We spent most of our time either walking through the bustling city, eating at fun eateries, or in bed watching a movie as we drifted off to sleep. It is in a great location. Chicago never sleep and you could tell as people were walking to who knows where outside the hotel. I highly reccomend the Palmer House and for $52.00 a night we should have made it our permanent residence! PROS: location, more

This hotel is old and drafty. The prices even for Michigan Avenue is off the chart. The restaurants are not the best Ive been at. What is good is the lobby of shops. World class with prices to match more

Chicago's Finest 6/19/2005

The Palmer House is one of the best hotels in Chicago. I was lucky enough to stay there with my husband for one weekend as a special anniversary present. The room was lovely, and the service is unbeatable. They even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne. more

Classy, historic Chicago hotel 6/6/2005

When you want quality and class, the Palmer House Hilton is the place to go. An important part of Chicago's architectural history, the hotel lobby and banquet rooms are breathtaking. We have received superb customer service when staying overnight or attending weddings here. Brunch in the main restaurant as well as food and drinks in The Big Downtown (downstairs) were also excellent. more

One of the world's best hotels 3/9/2005

I've had the good fortune of staying at the Palmer House for many occasions, and my wedding reception was held there. It is a classic, beautiful, old Chicago hotel with nice rooms and great facilities. If you haven't been there, check out the website for some good photos. The service is world class in every respect, and it's a great life experience to visit this classic place. If you're planning a wedding there, it's worth every penny. The food was amazing. I still have great memories of the tasting, and all the delicious things that the guests didn't even see. The service of dinner was prefect, the campaign was great, and the cake was exactly what we wanted. They went out of their way to handle every detail, and I didn't have a single glitch come up on the big day. The room they gave us to stay in - the honeymoon suite - was beyond words. The suite was just what we needed to spread out and relax after the party. more

Understated Elegance & a Personal Touch 11/4/2004

To be treated well and/or to REALLY impress someone, I HIGHLY recommend staying at the Chicago Palmer House Hilton! Walking into the Palmer House, you know that you are in for a special treat! Elegance, service and every amenity you might want. PLUS, the staff seem particularly happy when they have the opportunity to go the extra mile. I was particularly impressed with the personal, caring attention from Michelle in housekeeping. It was also great to be recognized and welcomed back at night by Luis on the security staff. Anyone can guard the door, but Luis does it with the friendly courtesy of someone who really cares about the guests! Perhaps the best testament is that if anything isnt up to standard it is PROMPTLY rectified! we stayed 6/8- 6/12 and loved it. We were a little worried after reading reviews but our stay was great. We got a great price via priceline and the room was great. We got a nonsmoking room with 2 bathrooms and 2 walk in closets. We wanted 1 king bed but got 2 double (but that was okay). Service was great, location was awesome, staff were friendly and we didn't hear any noise next door--some reviews complained of the noise. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Lovely lobby, great dining, tiny room. 2/17/2004

The lobby is breathtaking and there's no beating Trader Vic's. However, the hallways were narrow and hard to navigate (felt like a rat in a maze) and the rooms were surprisingly small. The bed took up most available space in the bedroom, and the bathroom was smaller than many European bathrooms. A family member complained that the walls were kind of thin...voices and TV noises in other rooms were easily heard. Pros: Lobby is gorgeous, Trader Vic's Cons: , Thin Walls, maze-like hallways more

Small Rooms 1/26/2004

The room descriptions to me were misleading. We had a view of the brick wall of the other side of the hotel. The only good service I received was from the restaurant The Big Downtown. Pros: Quick check in Cons: Horrible View, Small Rooms more

A Chicago Original 11/26/2002

The lobby of this wonderful hotel is worth a trip - even if you aren't lucky enough to stay here. It's beautiful! Location makes the Palmer House great for visitors and I always recommend it. And as a city dweller, it is also my favorite place to get away. You can spend more on a hotel in Chicago, but you can't get a better Chicago experience! Our Trip to Chicago was highlighted by the Palmer House. We were there with our friends and we all had a great time. Friendly staff sticks out in my mind. Great hotel with a beautiful lobby. ENJOYED EVERYTHING! 10/20/2002

We stayed in Chicago to catch a game at Wrigley. It was great. THe Hotel is so Beautiful. The food was great and the Staff was very friendly. It was nice to have someone take care of us on our vacation. The concierge was able to help us get tickets to the game!!! Front Desk friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The Way A Hotel Should Be 8/26/2002

This is a Nice Place with Friendly People. Great Rooms and Good food. The Lobby is huge and has lots of Art. I liked the old Silver used by the Presidents. Hauntingly Beautiful and what a value! 8/25/2002

We stayed at this Hotel Memorial Day 2001. I have never had a more enjoyuable time ever in a Hotel Room. We plan to return Next Summer to get re aquainted with Chicago, The Palmer House and some special friends in the Area. We packed 'em in for the convention. The food was great, always something good to eat. The Lobby is Beautiful and the Service is Outstanding. FRIENDLY PEOPLE Everywhere. I rate this Hotel 10 stars for Value and Service. Give them a try! Beautiful and Affordable 8/17/2002

For the Level of Service and the Grand Nature of this hotel, Nothing can beat it. Why spend the night at a regular hotel when you can enjoy the personality of the Palmer House Hilton. We totally enjoyed the entire stay. Great Food, Mai Tai's at Trader Vic's and my husband enjoyed the Cigars too. For a family of our size it was perfect and below what we budgeted for Chicago this summer. I recommend this Hotel to everyone! Pros: Friendly Staff, Great Value, Beautiful more
