Cut and Highlights 10/12/2009

Now don't get me wrong, the stylist here do a pretty good job and are very nice as well as attentive. Which is what we would all hope for when entrusting someone with scissors near your locks. The person cutting my hair, I believe her name was Sara, got the cut I asked for right but not really the base color I wanted although the highlights came out lovely. She was pleasant and nice to talk to during the almost two hours I was there. What I did not like was the price! I felt I was paying more for the location of the salon than the actual hair cut and dye. With tip I shelled out about $185. I am sure I can find another salon to do hair just as well and not charge just as much. more

Words can't express awesomeness sometimes. 12/7/2008

I see Kristin. She is probably the best thing to happen to Chicago. Every time I see her, which is hardly enough, I throw some out of control demands her way and she way beyond delivers every time. I.E. I hadn't seen her for over 6 months and came with the worst hair and asked for the world. So I guess Kristin has the market on packaging the world at a reasonable price. Everyone is nice too! Plus they have a billion product lines with something for everyone. Seriously, after enough soccer mom cuts and over priced color, you have to go! Pros: Price, Service/Quality/Ect, Good Times, Open Sundays, Full Stock of Special Effects Color Cons: Wrigleyville isn't my favorite place when there are Cubs games? more

Matthew is the best - extremely talented and he listens to what you want 11/15/2008

Matthew, formerly at Fuga salon, is now at Orbit's new location in Wicker Park. I highly recommend Matthew - you will never go wrong with him. He always consults with me beforehand - listening to my ideas and what I want and adding his own expert suggestions. I've asked for a wide range of different hair cuts, from conservative layers to my current extra-short pixie, and whatever he does, I love. Also, he explains how to style it and what products are best. He makes it really easy to style my own hair. Even when my haircuts from Matthew start growing out, they still look fine. LeAnn is the best! 4/28/2008

After doing a hairshow I went to LeAnn and she totally fixed my weird haircut and color and that's something really hard to do! She is just amazing, always listens to what I want in my haircut, and besides being awesome at cutting hair and coloring it, she is also the nicest person in the whole world! so it's always nice to go to the salon because it will always be a great experience with her! more

Jeff Pitlarz saved my day! 3/20/2008

I went to Orbit for the third time to try a stylist that was highly recommend because I could have been happier with the first 2 cuts so I thought hopefully third times a charm. Well, I find out AFTER I arrived my stylist wasn't coming in so the owner recommended Jeff. Honestly I was nervous because I thought why isn't he busy. He is newer to the salon but not to the biz and he gave me the absolute best hair cut I've had in years. He is great with short hair and knows how to texturize. A++++ Thanks Jeff! Great style without the attitude and huge salon bill! 12/10/2007

Everyone is very friendly and personal. Not only does my stylist Shannon make me feel welcome every time I come back, but so do the receptionists and other stylists. I was a walk-in 5 years ago and have been a happy client since. Shannon is fun and friendly, does a great job with my crazy mop, and my hair looks great for weeks. I'm glad I found someone who takes their time, because my hair can be tricky. Pros: fun, friendly, open on Sundays, reasonable prices Cons: salon can be messy, watch out for parking during Cubs games more

Binh is the best! 6/14/2007

I've been going to Orbit for two years now. Binh my stylist does an amazing job with cut and coloring! Not only is he extremely talented with scissors and foils, he's very attentive. He always asks what your looking for and listens closely to make what you want happen. He's great company for those long highlight/cut appointments. He remembers everything we chatted about at the previous appointment and asks for updates the next time I see him. I never have to wait more than 3 or 4 days between the day I call and the day I want to make the appointment. There's no waiting two-three weeks for your stylist to finally have an opening. Definitely ask for Binh when you call Orbit to make an appointment. He won't let you down! more

Great service, cool salon, accomodating hours 2/7/2007

I love Shannon! She is sweet, takes time to find out what I do and don't want, is great with hi-lights, and is affordable. I'm glad I don't have to spend a lot of money for haircuts that I REALLY love. And my hair ALWAYS looks good, even after it's grown out. I love that she works evenings and on Saturdays and Sundays as well. Makes it easy with my schedule to still fit in a cut and highlight. A great find in Chicago, where there are so many salons, but not always filled with good stylists. Pros: Salon is open 7 days a week. Great service. Friendly environment Cons: Parking can be a hassle during cubs games, but, there are meters and a lot in the back. more

Travis is an amazingly talented hair designer! 2/1/2007

Travis is my new BFF!!! In all seriousness, Travis does a WONDERFUL job! I agree with the previous post, this is the first time I have had a hair style that is hip, and that i love!!!! He is great with color AND CUT! He got it perfectly right the first time. I have curly hair and was nervous about going to someone who doesn't have curly hair, but he is amazing and knew exactly what my hair needed. Also, he is super fun and relaxed! If you are looking for someone who is very reasonably priced, very easy to talk to, and EXTREMELY talented, Travis is your man!!! more

TRAVIS Is the Best!! 1/20/2007

I recently went to Orbit for a haircut after having several unsatisfying cuts from my stylist of 5 years. I went in blindly, asking the receptionist who to use. He recommended Travis. With some hesitancy, I went to the salon, only to discover the best stylist I've ever had. Ladies, if you want a hip and amazing haircut for an affordable price, Travis is your man! I have long hair, which is usually hard to maintain and to look cool and hip. I fret no more. Travis has honestly given me the best haircuts I've ever had, and I'm sure he'd be able to do the same for any type of hair. I would recommend him highly. Aside from being incredibly talented, he is just a really nice guy, easy to make conversation with, and makes you feel right at home. I am so happy! more

finally found my go-to 12/27/2005

I happened to stumble upon orbit when i was trying to get my hair done last minute for an important event. Not only did I love the way my hair looked, but I went back a few weeks later to get it cut and could not have been happier! I have been going to heather ever since and have reccomended her to a couple other people who have been equally pleased...I couldnt imagine getting my hair cut by anyone else. Definatly try this place out! more

I finally found my stylists! 10/14/2005

I found my stylist Heather and colorist Megan at Orbit. I had been a client of theirs at a different salon and had to hunt them down. I finally found them!! They are both extremely talented and sooo nice. I got a hot short punky haircut and an amazing color my first time there. The salon is very hip and the staff is really nice. The prices are very affordable. If you are in need of amazing talented stylists go to Orbit. I walked out with a hot cut, great color, and got my make up done too. Absolute EXPERTS in Cut and Coloring 8/25/2005

I've gone to Orbit for about a year now and COULD NOT be happier with my stylist Sandy. I have very fine, sleek almost black hair that doesn't do much else except hang limply around my face. I've always gone to good salons, but nobody has ever given me a cut that actually adds volume to my hair...until I went to Sandy. She keeps notes on all of her clients and has a really great understanding of what cuts work well on different hair types and textures. She's also a TERRIFIC colorist. All I have to do is tell her what I like about someone's hair in a magazine and she manages to mix the perfect colors/highlights/lowlights for my hair. Highly recommended. more

Cost should equal Quality 12/29/2004

The salon looks impressive, with it's trendy sign and hip decorations, but I was not impressed with the service. While getting my haircut, I chatted it up with the hair dresser only to find out she had been cutting hair for a mere 6 months... of course I was nervous, but then became angry when I was forced to pay $50 for the trim! I have no problem paying good money for an experienced stylist, but when a student is cutting my hair I expect to pay a student rate. more

I have gone to many different salons in Chicago, and Orbit is above and beyond the rest. Sandy is incredible. One of the best in the city, in my opinion. Plus, they are all lively and friendly. Go there, ask for Sandy, you won't regret it! more
